  1. Sorry - another question rather than a reply - but what's the story with the Africans in Vientiane?

Also, can someone please confirm which bus station I need in Udon for the 'regular' bus to Nong Khai? (Above it says not No 1 and presumably it's not No 2 either.) Cheers.

When I want go from Udon to Nong Khai I go Central Bus Station and wait bus coming from somewhere south and which is going to Nong Khai. Never had to wait more than 15 min and paid 20-40b. That is morning between 6-8 am. Udonmap.com has good map to see both bus stations, http://www.udonmap.com/images/new_map.gif

  2. For travel Bangkok and back, taxi bus or whatever in Bangkok, hotel one night and extension, we are talking about 3500 thb.Yes I apply it for my first entry because I was in Bangkok for some other business.

You don't have to do your extensions in Bangkok. I think there are immigration offices closer to you. See this list on immigration website: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php?page=phone

You can call them to be sure they will do an extension.

Please tell me which is nearest and I can go there using public transportation? Living in Uthai Thani province, near Swang Arom. I think that will be Bangkok. Ok there is Tak but still have to stay one night in hotel and to go there I have take three different bus. Instead to Bangkok I can take minibus down the road.

About my visa and extensions. Yes I loose some days from start. That was because in Finland I live far from Helsinki and I apply visa when I happened to be in city for some other business. In Thailand I live up country and I don't apply any extensions because it will cost me so much. For travel Bangkok and back, taxi bus or whatever in Bangkok, hotel one night and extension, we are talking about 3500 thb.Yes I apply it for my first entry because I was in Bangkok for some other business.

After I did two border runs to Myawaddy, Myanmar (costs me about 1500 thb each) and next I will go to Vientiane in january to get double entry TR. That will cost me about 6500 thb. Not including food or drink because I have to eat everywhere I stay, even in home. Btw, AirAsia promotin price BKK-UTH-BKK 406 thb :o

And eggomaniac, please, learn quote. Very hard to understand what is your post and what you quote.

  4. There was a recent post from a member that had been in touch with the consulate in Houston and they told him that they would issue a 3 entry tourist visa. There have been other posts saying the same for other countries and consulates. With that you could get almost 9 months without getting another visa.

Other than those issued by nearby consulates that issue visas with 90 day dates most tourist visas are issued with a 180 day dates.

Royal Thai Embassy in Finland gives you that

PAD allows 88 flights out - without passengers

The leaders of the People's Alliance for Democracy have agreed to allow 88 grounded aircraft to fly out of Suvarnabhumi Airport.

The planes were stranded when they flew in as the PAD occupied the international airport last Tuesday night. Only a handful of passengers have been allowed to leave since then.

The agreement came after hours of negotiations between protest leaders and Airports of Thailand, the airport's owner and operator.

The first of the 88 aircraft already left Suvarnabhumi shortly after dark on Sunday evening.

Under the agreement, Thai Airways International and foreignh airlines can fly to airports in other provinces of the country to help evacuate tourists who have been stranded for nearly a week by the protesters.

There is no sign the PAD demonstrators will leave the airport.

  6. Ok, here is little something about my visarun. First bus starts 12.30. So I took 9.30 VIP bus to Tak, 122b. From there minibus to Mae Sot, 56b. In Mae Sot I took room in DK hotel, 450b air with hot water. Fan room, no hot water in shower was 290b(?). Morning took tuktuk to border. Lady in immigration gave me rough time, I don't know why. Asked me several questions about my stay in Thailand. And that was when I was going out. Burma side it was nice and easy, in to the office, 500b and two stamps to passport, 2min max. Back to thaiside and same lady, now nothing, only wanted I put my telephone number on arrival card. Tuktuk waited me so next to busstation. First bus to Bangkok starts 8.00, second 8.30 and third 10.30. Evening first starts 19.00, second 20.00. After that I think there are maybe 5 or 6 bus between 15 or 30 min starting time, last leaving 22.00(?). 10.30 was for me, 189b and back in Nakhon Sawan 3 afternoon.

    Minibus Tak - Mae Sot

  7. Actually I had done this already two times. First time I took car and driver from my village because my gf want to come and see around. Second time I went alone but I took ordinary bus to Tak and minibus from there to Mae Sot. Anything in border went quickly, in and out 15 min. No need for photo, only pay 500b in Burma. They stamp Your passport in and out as You wait. Came back VIP bus, 200b to Nakhon Sawan and I think it takes about 5 hour.

There is 3 VIP bus on morning and 3 in evening, Mae Sot - Bangkok. Now I just want to know what time these stop in Nakhon Sawan

  8. If you move into a rental property, or move in with a Thai family, you should make sure that your landlord/family does this or (more likely) you should do it yourself. Fillout and submit a TM28.

I have been in Thailand more or less 3 years now. First on non-o visa and now on tourist visas. Everytime I stay with my gf in her/our house. So we (or she) have to fill some form that I stay here? Give it to who? Local police enough?

Everytime I got extension for tourist visa I tried to give our address (or her address) but everytime immigration wants my hotel name and room number in Bangkok or Pattaya. So what is the right thing to do?
