I received a pickup queue number 258, and there were still many people behind me. The actual processing at the window only took about a minute. You might get lucky and encounter a shorter wait time if you visit on a day when there aren't any large groups from Thai visa agencies applying. Money Requirements: I had over 400,000 baht in my account for 10 days. The consulate offered me a 1-year multi-entry visa based on my bank statements, but I chose the 3-month Non-O visa instead. In a few months I'll apply for the 1-year extension in Thailand. Several people in line applied for the 1-year multi-entry visa but were only granted the 3-month Non-O visa because they lacked bank statements. This confirms that you can obtain the 3-month Non-O visa without showing any bank documents, but bank statements are required for the 1-year multi-entry option. Okay, looks like I need to be extra prepared this year. Bringing a couple of extra documents just in case, plus anything else I can think of. Last year's process was smooth, but who knows what they'll require this time. I'll be in Savannakhet on Tuesday and will update you on how it goes. Planning to apply for a 3-month Non-Imm O (marriage) visa, then extend it to a year in Thailand later. I think this is easier.

Regarding the application + documents for this year, is it necessary to submit two copies of all documents, or is one copy sufficient?

If you have a 1 year multi-entry you have to leave the country every 90days and you can only extend it one time. So you will have 1 year plus the 2 month extension. As far as leaving the country. I stayed at least one night outside of Thailand before returning. Some people have said they have crossed the border and back to Thailand the same day without issue but others have had problems. I just avoided any problems and stayed a night. I hope this helps!

How long does the 400k have to be in the bank for? 2 months? or as long as you have 400k in the bank they are happy?

This is my situation, I currently have over 400,000 baht in my bank account, but it hasn't been there for two consecutive months. I'm unsure now if Savannakhet requires the funds to be in the account for two months to qualify for a 1 year visa. A shorter holding period, like 3 days, wouldn't be a problem. However, if they do require two months, then applying for a 90-day visa with a one-year renewal in Thailand seems like a better option. Since I travel frequently, a direct one-year renewal isn't needed. Plus I hate leaving 400k in the bank for 2 month not being able to use it! Just double-checking about the 90-day marriage visa (Non-O). Do I really not need to show any money to get it? or at least not 400k in the bank for 2 months? I just don't want to travel all the way up there and find out i need to show it. haha.

Is this correct? If you have a one-year Non-Immigrant O Marriage Visa (leave the country every 90 days) and you leave the country with a week left on your 1 year visa, when you re-enter Thailand you will receive another 90-day stamp even if there is, lets say 1 day left before the year visa expires? After that when you 90 day is about to expire, you can apply for a 60-day extension?

I have a one-year Thai non-immigrant O multi entry visa, which requires me to leave every three months. If I leave Thailand and apply for another non-immigrant O visa with a month and a half remaining on my current visa, will I lose the remaining time on my current visa? I will not be able to leave Thailand closer to when my visa expires, so I will need to apply for a new visa over a month early. Thanks for any replies!

Yeah, I was there on a Monday as well. I lined up at around 8:15am and was done by 10am. I had receipt #50. By 8:30 the line was way down the road. It's best to get there by 8am. You'll should be done before 10am if you can get there at that time.
