  1. The price of beer and, ahem, gentlemen's entertainment in Thailand has almost reached western levels now.

I really don't see the point in going to a SE Asian country, putting up with crap service and paying what I do back home. One of the reasons I put up with the incompetence is because it's cheap, and that was a reason to justify it. But if they want to charge big bucks and offer inept service, as they do, what's the point.

But typical Thai thinking. "because of our stupity, there aren't as many tourists coming now and we're not making any money. So let's increase taxes and put prices up, that'll bring them back".

    Mind boggling.

I think the neighboring countries will continue to benefit from Thailands greed and stupidity over the coming years.

  2. I agree with looking at the birth certificate.

I had this very problem with a Thai ex-gf. She was only a young girl, about 19.

I started dating her but not having sex, and a friend of a friend told me she had a husband and a kid.

I asked her about this and she very convincingly lied to be about it, saying she didn't.

When the time come to have sex, she insisted on the lights being out and the room being very dark.

Eventually I found out, and when I confronted her about it she said, "OK, well, you know about it now so can't we just forget about it and carry on?"

I thought her attitude was bizarr, and of course I knew I couldn't trust her any more so I didn't see the point in carrying on. I did see her for sometime after that but on a casual sex basis, all the while referring to her as my ex-gf, even to her face. She seemed OK with it, as though I was joking. I never pursued her, she always pursued me.

I wonder now if she was lying to me simply because she was embarrased about her situation and she did actually like a lot and thought that I wouldn't give her a chance if I knew she had a kid, but after I got to know her I would be OK with it.

The Thais think very differently to us. I think that's why the OP is asking the questions. Someone said you wouldn't ask the same question back home. Of course not, but we aint back home, are we?

  3. We have more and more people on this forum displaying rampant heterosexual activity, but coming out if it lightly, that needs to be discussed, at the least I'd say the dangers are over stressed, or we have a lot of people telling porkies.

I certainly don't have any reason to come on here and lie about it. I'm just discussing what I do and this topic is very relavent to Thailand as it is a famous destination for sex tourists like myself whether the people on TVisa wish to admit it or not. I'm not interested in peoples moral high ground opinions, save that for your kids. I know many, many men who don't bother wearing protection. In fact I know more who dont wear than who do. And none of them have any problems either. Should we all pretend otherwise?

  4. There is some documentary evidence about sex workers in Kenya that 'appear' to be immune to the local strain of HIV, however whether that offers protection against other strains is doubtful?

Even if you are immune by some devine action, that does not mean that you are not acting as a carrier between 'partners/employees'.

Doing this is stupid - boasting about it on a web site is also stupid.

I didn't say I was immune, was just asking the question if it was possible to be more unlikely to contract a disease if your immune system is strong. It seems to be the case with me. I'm not debating the morals of my actions, merely the scientific side of them.

    I wasn't bragging about anything.

  5. After many years of travelling and living in SE Asia, I've had the pleasure of the company of several hundred girls, maybe a thousand, most of them of questionable morals.

I wear protection less than 5% of the time.

Yet, only twice in 2 decades have I had an STD, which was cured with a needle in the ass and some antibiotics. Nor have I caught HIV.

These odds are somewhat contradictory to what we are made to believe should happen.

Is it possible, if you have a healthy immune system, to not have as much of a chance to catch these diseases?

I seem to be living proof.

  6. Maybe she wanted to be your Gimp.

If you're in your 40's or younger and decent looking she probably just likes you. It does happen. But if you were 40ish or younger and decent looking you'd know this and you wouldn't be asking this question, instead you'd be out with her right now.

If you're a bit older, say 50 odd +, and the typical Pattaya style "gentlemen" she's after your cash mate. It's a fairly simple equation.

To have to come on tv and ask the question would also suggest you're lacking in confidence. Women can see this and it's not attractive. Smells like she wants you as an ATM to me.

  7. Longballs, a friend of mine moved into an exclusive gated community west of the city 2 years ago, paying 17m Baht for his luxurious 6 bedroom home.

His Thai neighbour on one side has 37 dogs that crap all over the place and no one ever cleans up the mess and it stinks so bad when the wind is in the wrong direction. The neighbour has now erected a 7metre high fence around his home constructed of metal tubing and black plastic netting so no one can see the mess the dogs make. The stench is vomit making. The Thai neighbour is, unbelievably, the head of the Environmental Health Department !

His Thai neighbour on the other side has a double size lot and holds bird singing competitions every weekend and holiday, and rowdy drunken parties almost nightly with Karaoke where the guests block the access road with their inconsiderate parking. Rubbish litters the lot with beer bottles etc piled everywhere.

Immediately opposite lives a very high ranking Policeman who has 3 sons who race around the community roads on un-silenced motorbikes with impunity. This family also use the car port at the front of their home as a rubbish dump where they have old furniture, fridges and lengths of timber (looks like Teakwood) and dismantled motorbikes with other parts littered in the front garden and six vehicles parked on the road outside the house making it difficult for my friend to enter his drive. The Police owner shot a neighbour who complained about his sons.

That's what you get for being stupid enough to spend half a million bucks on a place in suburban Thailand. Bet it's not worth that now.

  8. Arnoldjr, I want to give you a chance to retract (at least some of) your comments.

OK Adolph, let's get everyone to retract comments that you personally don't agree with. What else don't you like?

I agree with Arnoldjr, and I also agree with free speech.

  9. And me. Foreigners are welcome to visit and spend tons of cash to prop up the local economy but they are not at all welcome to stay.

are you happy that people come to thailand because many thai women whore themselves out?

I would be ashamed.... But anyone is free to be happy with what he wants... Anyhow you are the first person I met that is happy that some women from his country are whore...

    Make me the second then.

I'm also happy that women from my country whore themselves out. Means I can can get laid when I want, not when I can.

There are whores in every country. It's just cheaper and more prevelant and a bit more of a fun atmosphere in in Thailand. That's why most of us come. :o

  10. before anyone jumps up and down and shouts ,i love it in Thailand and always have.our neighbours are terrific and i have a good familly who never want anything(except her young brother, lazy sod),but its those in charge ,who always seem to want our money ,but give us nothing in return .things like double pricing,150 baht charge to take your money out of an a.t.m. draconian visa regulations ,not being able to own land ,ect what is it? they keep coming out with guff about making Thailand the perfect destination but to my mind its just b-llocks.

    what do you lot think?

It's not a matter of wanting us here or not, it's about what they can get away with. They keep putting the prices up and making it more difficult to live here, but still stupid Farangs come in droves. Go figure.

However, that may change as people are starting to look elsewhere now, such as neighboring countries who actually want us there and appreciate our money and patronage, as well as offering a similar lifestyle (including pretty girls).

  11. The protestors and troops have moved on, but that doesn't mean the tourists will forgive and forget and come flooding back, especially when you see this violence and mayhem on CNN and BBC every few months.

The average international tourist, from where-ever, wont be forgeting this in a hurry. They will be too worried to book a Thai holiday in the future for fear of their holiday being ruined by cancellations or worse.

    RIP Thai tourism.

Ironically, this will help tourism in Thailand's "enemies" nearby, such as Cambodia, Vietnam and probably the P.I as people will see them as more stable. And once they discover these other places, they wont go back to Thailand. The Thais have not only shot themselves in the foot but given a big lift up to surrounding countries.

  12. 'dbrenn' date='2009-04-13 08:08:15' post='2660694']

I moved to Cambodia and set up shop a few years ago....

I remember all of the foreign business owners bailing out from Cambodia around 1997 - most never returned. We are MUCH better off in Thailand and anybody who thinks otherwise is not to be listened to! :D

Ummm, 1997 was 12 years ago, things have changed.

I'm sure your Thai business is doing just great and is looking on the up and up. :o

  13. The main reason this keeps happening is that Thailand lacks real leadership, especially from the one we're not allowed to mention.

Another reason is the lack of intelligence and foresight from the Thai people. Most humans can look ahead to the future and understand that their actions have ramifications, not so most SE Asians. Any of us who've lived here longer than 5 minutes know this. They think as soon as this is over the rest of the world will forget about it and come back in droves. Not so. People are still weary/pissed off about what happened in December. After a poor so called high season, get ready for an absolutely nothing low season, actually, it will be a "no" season.

I've said it before, but I would sincerly hate to own a business in Thailand. I advised people long ago to sell up and move on only to be ridiculed. Those people who ridiculed me probably wished they heeded my advice. It's very depressing to sit at your business day after day with no customers while your rent and other overheads are still ticking over. Get ready for an increase in Farang suicides.

I moved to Cambodia and set up shop a few years ago, much to my relief as it's been and will continue to be a success. The only downside is a lot of our customers have to come through BKK, but that is changing rapidly with most people now aware of the Thai stupidity and booking flights through other hubs, such as KL, Singapore etc.

Don't kid yourself that this will end here. This will be on/off for years to come. Only the diehard whoremongers will come, and even they will discover new places nearby sooner or later.

    RIP Thai business.

  14. US embassy will be difficult for a tourist visa if he has no assets in Thailand or if you dont' have a job or some kind of long-term visa. You will need a letter from your parents showing that he will be staying with them and they will be supporting him. Make sure you take any old passports with you for the application, it shows that he has travelled and returned to Thailand.

You're marrying a guy with no assets and no job who needs to be supported by your parents. I bet they're secretly thrilled about that. I hope my daughter brings home one of them.

    Good luck with that one.

  15. Anyone in Pattaya who has already had cancellations?

The US Navy has canceled a port visit for this week. 4,000 horny, hungry, thirsty and cashed up sailors would have errr pumped a fair bit of cash into the local market I would imagine. Anyone have any idea what a US Naval visit is worth in revenue to Pattaya?

PMs welcome on the fallout from those affected.

The average sailor would probably spend 2000 on booze, 2000 on food & shopping and 2000 on "private entertainment", so it would add up.

  16. The real question to be asked is who are the morons who decided to hold such an important summit in Thailand in the first place?

The country and people are obviously unstable, this was bound to happen.

Now they've been made to pay be all being sent home before they even arrived.

Where will they decide to hold the next one, Darfur?

  17. As a CEO myself, I can understand why yuou didn't get a reply.I stopped reading your letter after a few minutes.

    It rambled on and on.

You should have made it short, to the point, facts about Tiger Air only and without personal references. A CEO of a company simply hasn't got the luxury of a spare 10-15 minutes to sit down and read that.
