  1. You have the choice of traveling out every 90 days as on any multi entry visa or you have the option to pay 1,900 baht for extensions of stay with qualifying documents.

I am sorry but that is not the choice that i see it as something favorable. They give you a multi and you must travel out, I dun think that is what i call making a fair deal. Student are paying money to study in Thailand and they make you pay more if you wanna extend. I think it is a mistake for me to come here.

I was told that i would get a single-entry without any payment for the whole year. And come in the 2nd letter and the staff told me new policy and you got to pay. //extremely insulting comment removed and poster warned//

  2. lopburi3 is correct, 1900 baht is the cost of an extension. If Thai Immigration is only allowing 3 months because of this type of extension, then you must provide the school's paperwork and re-apply paying 1900 baht each time. The length of an extension is determined by Thai Immigration, not the school which may be telling students old information.

A single re-entry permit (1000 baht, single entry) compared to a multiple re-entry permit (3800 baht) would most likely only be used, as each re-entry permit will be dated to expire with an extension, in this case at the end of 3 months.

If i go for the multiple entry permit, do i still have to pay 1900 bhat every 90 days for a stamp?

  3. 1. You can only obtain an extension of stay for 90 days at a time for some schools - it is not a visa - the cost is 1,900 baht each time.

    2. If you want to travel when on an extension of stay you must have a re-entry permit to keep it alive - the cost is 1,000 baht.

I am sorry but that is not what i have been told.

I was told that i am getting an initial 90 day student visa in my own country. Then i will to go to the immigration in Bangkok to do an extension of my current student visa for another 9 month. That would make it a year for my student visa.

What i do not understand is that why do a single-entry student visa need a have a stamp for every 90 days and need to pay 1900 bhat.

And as you have said that a re-entry permit is 1000 bhat and why do the school admin personnal told me that it is a 1900 bhat.

They just advise me to get a multiple entry, does multiple entry need to pay 1900 bhat for every 90 day stamp.

I am only planning to get a single entry one year visa and one re-entry permit only.

I am not sure the extension of stay, it came to me quite of a shock.

  4. Hi,

I am ready to do my student visa extension.

The school admin told me that i got to go to the immigration to stamp my visa every 90 days for a single entry visa and I GOT TO pay 1900 bhat for every stamp done. If i remember correctly, we do not have to pay for that before and that is only practised for multi-entry student visa.

If i chose a single entry, i need to get a re-entry permit ( as i need to fly out) that cost 1900 bhat. I thought it was 1000 bhat.

Does anyone has anymore information on this?

  5. Japanese tourist slain at ancient capital

The ancient ruins of Sukhothai, which was Thailand's main kingdom between 1250 to 1376, is a major tourist draw during the Loy Krathong festival, observed in Thailand on the night of the full moon in November by floating small vessels with candles and decorations in lakes, ponds and rivers to carry away one's sins.

How about to carry away one's life?

  6. Anyone got maps or directions to the celebrations for the geographically challenged amongst us? The only Aree Sampan I can find is nowhere near water...

South from Ari skytrain station on Pahon Yothin Road, turn right on Pahon Yothin Soi 5, then left on Ari Soi 1 to Soi Ari Samphan.

Thanks for the great map. There is still no indication of any river.

  7. Guys,

Is it possible to get a multiple entry student ED Visa? I do know that people wil get a single entry 90 day visa outside Thailand, if you requested at the immigration in Thailand for extension, will you be able to get a multi-entry visa upon request?

Yes, it is possible, but if you have a multiple entry visa you will have to do a visa run every 90 days, if on the other hand you wanted to stay here without leaving then a single entry if fine, with a proper paperwork you will be able to to extend your ED visa at the local immigration every 90 days. If during your period of stay you wanted to leave the country you will simply need to get a re-entry permit, a single one is 1,000 Baht.

If you do not plan to make a lot of trips then a single entry makes more sense as you will save yourself time and money.

    Walen School, Mac

Oh, multi need a visa run every 90 days. gee. i didn't know that.

  8. For the purpose of information, this is how I got my non-imm, ED, 1 year visa.

I study/live in Bangkok. Currently on a 1 year, single entry (just takes ~20 mins at the counter before immigration at the airport prior to take-off to get a re-entry permit) non-imm ED visa.

I've never had anything to do with the Ministry of Education, so all this talking about them is confusing. Step by step, this is how I went about getting the visa:

    1. Application and acceptance at school

    2. Given letter from school for consulate

    3. Got 90 day, single entry, non-imm. ED visa

    4. Stayed in Bangkok for ~75 days

    5. Got documents from school for immigration

    6. Went to immigration and got my 1 year

Do note that the "1 year visa" does not always last a year. Unfortunately, the first time I went for that purpose, Thailand was summarily humiliated by Singapore in soccer the night before. This event, with the Shin Corp debacle still fresh on people's minds, somehow led to my "1 year visa" lasting 3 and a half months. (I'm Singaporean.)

Fortunately was able to pull on some strings, and their previous glassy stares and barely hostile behavior has changed to full blown joy and adulation when I arrive, and now always get a 1 year visa with a smile. :o

Good luck on all of you going for an ED visa!

If you are on a single entry and wanna go back Singapore to settle certain issues, are you gonna do another visa again?

  9. so the initial non-immi-ED VIsa is just a SINGLE entry, good for 90 days, if I read that right. NOT a 1-year-multiple-Visa with unlimited entries at 90 days each.

pls correct me , if I am wrong....

I wonder if they grant the initial 90 days entry as multi-entries ( rather than just single entry) and go back to thailand to extend this multi-entry visa. I was hoping for that.

They only granted you the 90 days because you haven't actually signed up and paid for a course yet.

If you had had the full documentation for a language school you could have scored the one year visa.

Would the 1 year visa be multi-entry or single entry? or do i have a choice on that?

  10. so the initial non-immi-ED VIsa is just a SINGLE entry, good for 90 days, if I read that right. NOT a 1-year-multiple-Visa with unlimited entries at 90 days each.
