Not many people live in a village that has had 2 innocent people with smashed skulls (at least 1 anyway) by crazy people who did it just because they thought they could get away with it because they can and are it seems.......its not just what happened..2 murders but is actually the way it happened......if the burmese are guilty which has not been proved yet then ok the Island may be ok to visit but really who can go there and feel comfortable at this point when this evil deed has not been proved to be concluded......i for one dont believe they did it alone as 2 small guys killing 2 falangs seems very odd with all other points mentioned earlier like police saying they know who did it after first few days and have fled island(one at least) then changing to other stories(after actually receiving money),none of us know the truth as none of us were there BUT it is definitely mysterious due to conflicting reports!!! by Thai Police and with first hand knowledge of Thai Police then i am inclined not to believe a word from them.

I dont understand why some people think the Uk cops will help clear it......they will only ever get info that thai cops want them to have and not allowed to have real info on phones/sms/bank accounts of real killers or there relatives etc..... everyone knows who done it from the Islanders to Thai cops involved,they already have all the up to date technology to catch the real killers and were going to do that until they were offered a decent sum to change info and look for scapegoeats hence the Burma guys on cctv look like they can be used as scapegoats. I have seen many other big crimes solved very quickly in Thailand when they want to and especially if no one with any big money or influence involved so they knew who did it within first or second day then wasted time after that as to see if money coming was enough and if higher up accepted that and everything can be washed over which it was so then after that it cannot be changed EVER as too many would lose face so yes the UK cops can come over and see the matched DNA(bullshit) results and a bit of cctv showing these guys,they will never see real DNA or full CCTV with real culprits as that has already been paid to be deleted.....there are probably 3 or more people involved in the actual crime and many more who know this info already but nobody now can actually say this as much evidence destroyed as thats what they have paid some millions for already...no one is going to get access to the bank accounts especially UK cops or any mobile text messages or any real info that will show the real culprits and so UK will agree that looks like Burma did it as thats all they allowed to see and even if they think is not them then they cant say that anyway as no evidence so they have to go along with the Thai cops........and high ups know that everything is covered enough and that UK cannot really investigate and they already told tham they cannot investigate but can over see the evidence that Thai cops want show them, they cant make fuss or ask for other possible real evidence as thai cops will tell them that yes we looked at everything and found nothing on anyone else..UK or Burma cannot access this info themselves so nothing will change and Burma kids will go down and maybe they told already just shut up now and they will be let out in 6 months anyway or if they cause problems then will be threatened so they have choice and looks like they choose to say tortured which of course they were as this is standard MO to sign anything.

sorry but thats the way it is and will never change..money is number 1 whether Cops or Army which is why they all multi millionaires even there real pay is peanuts,Thai know this long time and farang either believe it or live in hope/dreams that real truth will come out just because complaining now......thai cops,army,officials dont really care anyone complain as is up to them and no one can really touch them,it will just mean the KT family will have to pay them more now as has gone bigger,they probably happy its gone global as now fees trebled or more to stick with story of they innocent but im telling you there is NO chance of real culprits being caught now as too much face to be lost even everybody know is a cover up.

Goodnight and just boycott KT and Thailand if possible then maybe next time they will say cannot cover up a tragic murder but this time its not going to change.

Surely someone from KT can confirm a few things:

Was Mons son actually on the island that day,locals (and Sean)must know him and so can confirm or deny that using anonymity if they worried about reprisals also can someone confirm about seeing Sean's cut in his arm from a previous accident before the murder as does seem strange that it suddenly needed washing on that night by a local worker and there does seem like quite a lot of blood on his guitar still so why didn't he actually clean it off at some stage already ,strange boy,maybe he was on the beach and somehow involved which can be a reason he was frightened or threatened and won't say more.

Many people surrounding the incident seem to be told not to talk but why not talk anonymously with real details so it stops rumors.

Where is more CCTV footage,some seems to be released so why not all now if nothing to hide and why nobody knows who the guy running with the lighter shorts on who isn't wearing them before if was the Burma guys on the motorbike! Maybe there is some footage of the mafia involved and so will never be seen for that reason,many of these things can be cleared up by the KT folk,whether they are Thai or farang.....it does stink but don't think police/army can ever admit wrongdoing now or let anyone investigate as that will end up in worse result than now for them,the real culprits are <deleted> animals and need to be punished for this despicable crime

By the way Thai police are very adapt at there torture methods and so can inflict quite a lot of pain without any noticeable marks:electrocution to the balls has been talked about by previous people plus psychological threats work quite we'll on softer victims ie threats that police will rape your girlfriend/child and other such like if you don't say/do what they want,don't forget we are talking about the real mafia here(police) who don't have morals only greed.

Sai Noi beach aint bad,very small and scenic..its just past Khao Tao beach around the corner from the lake there otherwise theres not a lot till after Prachaup Khiri Khan. You also got Pak nam Pran which is quite nice and not too far.......but depends what you looking for in a beach?

My mrs read that update on curfew is that it is now only in about 20 regions of Thailand and Prachaup is not in that list,anyone been out tonight?

I understand what the original poster is getting at .......prices are crazy in central Hua Hin but many crazy prices in the out skirts too like Borfai,Takiab,up soi 102,up 94,88 etc.

High prices has got nothing to do with Farangs buying land in Hua Hin because 99% is bought by Thais and mainly the Bangkokians..go to the land office and you will hardly see any Farang each day. All the main tourist towns of which Hua Hin is one although not near the top then all land prices crazy. i also see many businesses for sale at crazy prices...you couldnt get your money back in 30 years(hotels/apartments/restaurants freehold etc) and would have to work/watch it to even nearly make it work or get money back but there are some crazy people out there and many super rich who dont care whether they make money or not..they just want it whether it be a business or land.All the cheap land has been bought up for a few years already and now people wont sell it for even 100% profit in a few years ,they seem  to want a lot more and thats there choice.

I also dont really understand the  poor Thais who wont sell there prime land even they dont have any money and live from day to day and dont use the land etc so why not sell it,buy a piece a few km away and still do same thing everyday but have millions in the bank.I have seen many plots near the sea/beach around Thailand where there is a shack on piece of land worth millions but they not interested to sell........they could buy a bigger bit of land and live a life of luxury.......i mean i would..wouldnt you???? they dont even go to the beach most of these people on these plots.....anyway i digress...........land for 1 million to 2 million is aprox 10 to 15km from centre of Hua Hin whether it be towards or in Pranburi or towards Cha Am or west towards the bypass and the cheaper land prices tend not to be on a concrete road or have electric water on site so there will be the expense of bringing in those services so that actually brings the price up of the plot as will need to at least get electric there and water drilling is quite expensive too......obviously no internet direct line.

Also depends on how desperate someone is to sell as to the price........if they want 4 million a rai up soi 6 then they obviously not looking for a quick sale but if they actually need the money then you would find plots nearer a reasonable price of 1.5 to 2.5 million a rai(not direct on main soi but not far off.

Also what i find a bit crazy is the prices of some small plots for sale within say 5km of town center.....3 to 4 million minimum for say 50 to 60 tw ,you cant even really build anything with a reasonable house size wise on a plot that size and house build would cost only half the price of the land but would still make it say 5 million up cost wise for a small 2 bedroom bungalow which aint walking distance to the sea or town centre......i say buy some land a bit out of town for around 1.5 million and you will get  200 tw up and can build a nice house ,have some space still and can afford a car/gas to go into town when need be.

DONT PAY THE CRAZY PRICES!!!!..leave that to the Thai rich or just rent forever if you find nice house at good price near town,there may be some bargain houses for sale sometimes which will save the hassle of getting a house built which is another headache/stress that you wont like believe me.

i went to chatachuk market last year and didnt find/see any although i didnt look in every single shop/stall but did check most out,they did have a few interesting items but were not cheap!!! and were usually thai style or old style designs..im not talking about sinks/basins as didnt see any but in general the items were not up to date.

i also looked for very similar in the past ..wanted copper ones and looked like the only way was to import or there might be some specialist shops in Bangkok but would need to be lucky to find and price would be a lot more than importing so i suggest if you really want one then import yourself after a google search...many suppliers wouldnt post to me in Thailand and others wanted a lot of money..sometimes more than item cost but anyway will not be cheap anywhere in the world.

Sorry i couldnt be more help...but i have looked in many many shops in Pattaya area and Phuket and some in Bangkok with no luck or help.

I like many unique items to use in house decoration/design but seems not much variety in Thailand when you want something unusual/luxury.

Just thought id ask if there was any big Discos(Club style) in Hua Hin...i did ask around first and was told about Hilton disco which i went in for 15 mins but wasnt really what i was thinking.....someone also mentioned some other small discos that are open very late but i couldnt see them when walking around and no signs...are they any good?

I found a great place that had really good food, i have tried there steak and was best steak i had and was only 129 bt for th small one and it was quite small but was so soft and was worth double.....burgers were also good and found out they are home made and were great for just 99bt.

Thai food was also very good so i can highly recommend this place.

It was called Kiss food and was located near my hotel: Grand hotel and restaurant was next to thai boxing staduim and overlooks the grand night market...you can sit outside and relax at there european alfresco style restaurant..i also see can sit in air con inside....it was very busy so guess most Hua Hin people know it is very good already .im on holiday but ate there many times already and havent found better yet

I am on holiday in Hua Hin and found a really good restaurant that had best burger i had in a long while but also other food was very good and price good too.it was called kiss food and drink and found it next to the thai boxing stadium at grand night market,im on holiday for a few more weeks and wondered if there was any other good places especially with good burgers etc..ive eaten all around the hilton area and is ok but not great.i alsi had a bintaburger but actually found burger at the Kiss food restaurant better so dont tell me to try bintaburger as i have!!

I have been reliably informed by a Thai land agent that yes land tax is going up a lot in Jan due to new government...i guess they want to catch up on money they havent had ......it wont help in buying or seliing land as now people wont want to buy till they bring tax down to reasonable level.

hmmmmm high quality and thai mechanic dont go hand in hand but lots of people use Road machine in 3rd road for repairs but for a project then Samart on Threprasit rd is ok for mainly chopper projects ...both speak ok english.

got 500k in cash and couldnt be bothered to get a 20k alarm or keep money in the bank instead!!!!.....strange ...... i keep nothing of value at home so if it ever happens to me then maybe i lose a tv and dvd but my alarm may scare them a little bit or maybe not!!!

it always smells a little of some inside knowledge when large sums of cash are taken, is he a little keeniow with the wife, her brother need more whiskey or family up country putting the presure on. Sorry if im a bit cynical, maybe there is just a lot of farangs here that keep large amounts of cash regularly at home that the odds are good for robbers of hitting the jackpot.

can an engineer do that?

Im serious about a bike......99 % of thais get to work on a bike....your in Thailand. They quick,cheap,easy and not too dangerous if you dont drive fast and stupid.

Why cant an engineer rent a bike? they only about 2k baht a month so i hope they paying more than that..........if you still dont like that idea then have you gone to the bus station and enquired as im sure there must be some buses going to chabang or pass through it and also there are private taxis in Pattaya but dont think you will like there prices.

Castra is open and has been for while but is at top of soi khao talo so dont know if location is any good for you but i dont believe it gets too busy.........as far as i can remember prices were good.

Universe Gym is still open on sukhumvit rd, prices used to be good and i guess they still are ok and i wouldnt expect it is too busy in the evenings but to be honest most gyms busiest times are about 6 to 8 pm mon to fri so if they aint busy at that time then they are probably struggling for members.

Golden gym is open on 3rd road between the 2 tonys gyms on same road, there is also a small gym(dont know name) on 3rd road on opposite side to Golden and not far from Golden.Sorry dont know prices or much else about them.

There is also a gym near police station on corner at Jomtien if its still open, not very good though .

Im in Pattaya and on the market for a good second hand engine for an old classic Merc car i have, it currently has a very unpowerful and very smokey nissan 2800cc diesel engine so i think i better replace it with anything more powerful as at the moment you put your foot down and and the only thing that really happens is you get a bunch of smoke out the rear and going up a slight incline is like torture .

Anyone any ideas on what i could put in and what i should pay for a second hand engine fitted and where is best place to find one in the Pattaya area.Im on a budget!

If i cant get an engine then anyone know a good diesel mechanic who could sort out the smoke problem as the boys in brown wont be too impressed if they see it.

Lastly might need a good second hand front seat.....any ideas where to get one or 2.
