  1. I've had the same problem with VoIP and Indy package. Until end of June it was working fine, but from one day to the next I couldn't understand the other side. Even some international websites were not or very bad accessible. The service from TT&T came to my house with the intention to show me that my hardware cause the fault. They connected a brought along modem - and all was working fine! That's the evidence for the technicans and I should buy a new modem.

But I insisted to see the configuration of her modem and found, they have used a Premier account. And that was the reason! So I've upgraded to an Premier account for the double price but now it is working fine for over two months.

I think they have adjusted some screws at TT&T to urge the people to upgrade to the more expensive Premier account.

  2. I'm using UPS for my Computer and all peripherals including modem and router. My Maxnet Internet is working even during power fail.

About other problems around UPS: To be safe you have to connect your device to ground potential correctly. Otherwise the UPS will not protect you from electrical surge and maybe in case of a lightning it is the last day not only of all your equipment but even the UPS itself. Because most wall plugs in Thailand have no ground pin, you must find a way for this. Maybe but not sure the case of your Aircon is grounded.

  3. International acces on Indy accounts are dramatically reduced since June. After a lot of trouble with tt&t I decided to upgrade to a Premier account and pay now 1090 Baht for 2MB (before 590 Baht for 3MB). But it's working fine.

  4. Because ไม้ตรี and ไม้จัตวา can not occur on high and low class consonants the red and blue coloured bars (on the chart introduced by the original posting) are to long and should cover only the mid class area.

Apart from this, this chart in the first version is clear if you know the consonant class and what is a live syllable and what a dead. For the consonant class it is presupposed, but for the type of syllable you have added some information in the following versions of the chart. This makes the chart confusing. Try to understand in a separate step why on syllable is dead and another is living. And in another step learn the consonant classes. Then you need only a small chart like the first version to work with. And after a short while you will see, you don't need even this.

I saw so many charts for this purpose and believe, they are only clear for those who make the charts for own use. If you want to share "your personal" chart to others, you have to explain things that are clear to you.

Look at the approach of Lyndon Hill. It is not wrong. But he use uncommon descriptions and numbers for the 5 tones. Ok, it's McFarland's system. But it's not common. And this table is everything else than clear.

  5. User of Maxnet can use the smtp.tttmaxnet.com with authentication.

On the tab where you type in the SMTP server, click on additional settings and check "SMTP needs authentication" and "log in with"

(or Descriptions like this, I'm not sure because I'm using German Windows).

If you made an upgrade from Indy to Premier before, maybe you find your Indy-Login here, then you have to type in the new one for Premier.

  6. I've installed Garmin XT Software on my PocketPC-Mobile Phone. It has the same map and functions as the Garmin Nuevi devices, but for the same price I got a mobile phone with pocket pc including car holder. I think it's the better choice, because I have it always with me. And can install other useful programs like a Thai dictionary with sound for the Thai words.

Some devices from hTC come bundled with Garmin Mobile XT for less then 15.000 Baht.

  7. Mine sits in the Bank year in year on a 5yr Fixed Term @ 2.76%

Pattaya Immigration will not accept even a one year fixed account. Only 3 or 6 months fixed accounts are allowed. It makes sense, because with this money you have to show, that you can finance your stay here. On fixed accounts the money ist not availlable for your livelihood.

... money must show it came from outside Thailand

That's not true! Nobody ask you from where the money comes.

  8. Pattaya Today - Volume 7, Issue 1 from today:

"The suggestion on the Internet (this Forum! - added by me) was that even the foreign wife of an applicant for a retirement visa would need her own income or cash lump sum in her own right.

But immigration sources say they have no information on any new ruling. As of mid September, Pattaya immigraion office was processing such applications in the normal way and without any changes. 'We have had no new instructions' said one officer who handles visas for retirees."

    Confusion perfect!

What's about the publication of the new rules in the "Gazette"? Ten days are over!

I think, now is the time for the lawyers of SUNBELT to make a clear statement.
