you have got to look at why drugs are taken if you have any real motive to control their use.

drugs are bad.... most of the people who make these statements have no experience with consuming any of the substances they condemn

they are not interested in fixing the issues that cause people to consume the plethora from alcohol to heroin.... and I am definately not just talking thailand here.

I do not think the situation will change for the next couple of generations, until there are people with direct experience with with various substances and the way they effect people, making decisions.

this statement can easily be transferred to australia where I am from.

does the government here supply any revenue figures to the public, what percentage of the population do pay tax, and what funds the enormous beauracracy. very few of the small businesses I have seen have a cash register, and if the average wage is 3000-4000 baht per month how can they afford to pay any tax.

What ones have been encountered?

about six months ago I was sitting in a quiet bar down the end of soi 4, when a canadian male of about 25-30 years of age came in with a variety of mobile phones, sat down at the bar and give a little sales pitch, to the tune of your mobile maketh the man.( you want me to hum a few bars? ) when I picked up one of his phones( that nokia with the qwerty k/board ) the weight seemed indicate there was not a battery installed, so I popped off the back cover and realised that it was just a display phone, the kind they leave out for people to look at. I asked him about this and he told me yes,

he was just selling a sample phone, he was able to buy them for so many dollars per thousand, and he just went around the bars selling them to drunk english speakers for about 500 baht each. I did not think that people could be that silly, but he said he had no worries selling them.(add grain of salt). me told me he does the rounds of the tourist spots in thailand, and he said he had been doing that kind of thing for about six years.

I decided that I did not wish to be irresistable to women, who found the sight of a man pretending to chat on the latest model mobile phone, an indication that he was a desirable partner .

I do not think I have seen him since.
