as i said, trying to cut a long story short. it's long, believe me. but to answer your question, she is the mother of the 2 children who have stayed with me.

family matters- along the lines of relationship breakdown, consent order, financial separation agreement, sole guardian of children, clean break order, that sort of area. short of full divorce as i am away from thailand at the moment, and will do that once i get back, as i have all the documents with me. wife in TH, me and children in the UK. thats it in short. some urgency to the situation, hence asking in the original post for someone who is 'au fait' in the subject.

And the advice given by these guys can 99.99999' % be trusted. if i can give examples.... If i need advice about the armed forces (SAS in particular), I just have to take a seat in an LK Metro bar. However.... (if i may ask) who is the 'go to' person on here for legal (family matters) advice. fingers crossed there is one, and that they're allowed to be named... TiA.

sorry if this query is floating around here already... but i just wondered... Translation services around Pattaya... sometimes (usually) doubling up as travel agents and photo shops.... do they have to be certified or registered in any kind of way? if so, any way of checking that they really are? i had a translation done for an official document to take to embassy, but the translation was very bad, google translate could have done a better job.... to save problems in the future, how do i know which ones are 'official', and those that are not. it seems possession of a rubber stamp and blue ink pad are all the equipment needed to run such a business. just wondering...????.... I'm sure all is good and dandy, and they're all legitimate, after all, TiT, what could possibly go wrong...?

from my experience in Thailand, i can get a legal document to say that my dog is a parrot... it's how water-tight a seperation agreement or 'divorce in principle' document would be. i suspect not at all, but hoping someone may know different.

trying to cut a long story short.... i am not in thailand at present. seperated over 10 years ago. wife agreed to divorce eventually 2 years ago. official start of divorce papers sent from UK, but were ignored or hidden by other family member. ideally i wanted to 'buy' this agreement to divorce now, as circumstances are that she needs some money very soon. the circumstances may change when i eventually get to thailand and all cards are off the table. last but not least I DO NOT TRUST HER !!! your plan would have been my preferred route, alas, i am not there...

is there any such thing as... ' divorce in principle' or 'seperation agreement' ? obviously done in Thailand by a Thai lawyer that would be watertight come the time we are able to go to the amphur office together to get it signed officially. i do not plan to return to thailand for at least a few months, probably more, but it seems like circumstances have arisen where we can sort something out now.... at last.....

yeah i'll do that in future, but the horse has bolted before i closed the gate so to speak...

It's that time of life where i'm suffering with suspected kidney stones. What has been your experience? i would like to know your early signs, how long before you sought medical advice, how bad did it get, how it was diagnosed, treatment if any. If you had any treatment, where did you go? timeline from diagnosis to feeling back to 'normal'... appreciate yr stories... TIA

just to add to this and my previous comment. the only problem you 'could' have is if there is another person/s doing work (a thai) on your property, eg, your wife selling somtum, a gardener doing the lawn, a decorator painting the house, a builder doing the roof, etc... and you do something which could be seen 'assisting', such as getting your own beer from the fridge associated with a wifes business, burning cuttings or raking cut grass, opening a tin of paint to help the decorator, holding a ladder steady for the builder, etc... then grey areas exist which if seen and reported can haunt you. however, on your own and away from any business area, fill your boots. getting paid or doing something gratis makes no difference.

making yourself a sandwich? work permit. pouring yourself a beer? work permit. driving / riding to the market for groceries? work permit. etc etc etc... ignore him. let him wind himself up, and carry on.

steibel eltron i've always used when i had to fit my own. never a problem, elements made in europe (germany) . only used for a few months in the cool season though, like now !!! 4.5 kW a bit weak for me.

yes replace it, or get it checked/ repaired. 12 years is good going, and it's a medium to good brand i know. the element is probably breaking down through corrosion, about 2k to repair...ish. but replace with same brand, you got another 12 yrs fingers crossed...

and with vaccination certificates being sold on the streets for 100 B, what could possibly go wrong...

still legal tender in the UK. maybe try to 'sell' them to someone (from the UK) who is due to return home soon... if you can find someone that is...
