From this MD: for now take any vaccine you can get. Sometimes you want a Mercedes with A/C but can only get a tuk-tuk to get you somewhere. Any vaccine will protect you from serious illness, an ICU or a grave. Soon the rich countries will be saturated, vaccines will be produced by the millions and your next upgrade can be of your choice.

    Or maybe a Yugo? ????

  2. Just be thankful you do not live in The Village on 3rd Road near Pattaya City Hospital....I came home in the late afternoon to find my kitchen and bedroom under 2 feet of water.....and mud!????????. Seems like every big rain we get flooded....not fun on any level.....and I am not a huge fan of a waterbed and indoor swimming pool.....might as well just hunker down in the swamp.????????????????????????

A few artists' impressions of questionable accuracy probably ain't worth an orgy the usual knickers soiling. We do enjoy pot stirring quite a lot, however.

We've seen the "drawings effect" before. In general, we should try to avoid another outbreak of the dreaded incurable Tic-Related Promenade OCD (TRPOCD). After that 40-page muthah of all doomster threads Widening Of Beach Rd Started At North End, many of our posters were left decimated that their Death prophecies failed to come true and more tourists than ever were using the Promenade. Well, except for now, what with COVID.????

TRPOCD seems to be have been contained, finally, except in one of our posters, compelled to write the occasional Tic now and then.

Happily, that Ultimate Doom thread did serve as the usual reliable inverse indicator. The DESTRUCTION of Dead Pattaya had been chanted, confirmed, echoed, celebrated, and blessed for an entire year. So, about three months later, Holiday Inn started accepting bookings for its new Executive Tower. The following year, 8.1 million tourists ("overnight international visitors") stayed in Pattaya, representing a 10% growth from 2014, according to MasterCard’s Inaugural Asia Pacific Destinations Index.

Then the share price of Central Pattana rose sharply to an all-time closing high set on May 7 of 57.25: an increase of 39% off the low in one month!

But nowadays we got a new Death thread every week or so. This should be quite an economic revival when it comes. 'Course, there's hardly any place to go but up--from here, right?

    WELL ANYWAY. . .

This ain't no big redevelopment of the Promenade, no "new Promenade" as our pot-stirrers are trying to portray it.

It's merely a few delayed upgrades we all so much enjoyed sneering at last year:

160 million baht Pattaya beach renovation to be started at the end of this year

The renovation will consist of repaired and renewed footpaths, more green zones, more parking areas and underground toilets.

Which, on its face, addresses some long-standing whinges voiced here. The lack of parking was decried as early as two decades ago.

We'll see how it goes, if it goes this time. As @champers wisely counseled at the end last time,

Patience is a virtue and Geena is a punk rocker!

    Yeah. Sheena, too.

No need for the knot in the knickers....this is just a wind-up by the kind folks at City Hall.....????????

Actually she found a real rich sponsor with Ferrari and all that. One day I saw her again, looking real nice, and she told me something like: I never thought you can have everything and be unhappy.

At least her son was in one of the best Bangkok schools.

That might be BS on her part and a wind-up from your part....????????????

Pattaya or Jomtien as at Feb 2019 (pre Sars-cov-2) was vastly different to 2008.  Think of your nice shiny brand new 2008 model car compared to eleven years later.  It's still a car, but rather dated, worn out, lots of miles on the clock, and somewhat lacking in desirability - but it's yours and you love it.

Well that was Pattaya/Jomtien in 2019 - mere shadows of themselves compared to 2008.  Still great places to live and have a life, but the halcyon days of 2008 disappeared gradually each year and were long gone by 2019.

Now think of your somewhat dilapidated (but much loved) 2008 model car as being stolen from you in March 2019.  The thieves thrashed it, trashed it, rolled it, excreted in the glovebox, put sugar in the gas tank, dented every panel, drove it through a canal, and threw it off the top of Central Festival on to Beach Road.

That's where Pattaya/Jomtien are right now.  The car survived the fall (broken and bent, but still breathing) and all that remains is to see if she can be re-started and resurrected sometime in early 2022 or thereabouts.  Pundits are about equally divided on whether she can be restarted and restored to her comparatively reasonable 2019 condition over time, or whether she is so far beyond repair that she will be consigned to the crusher, and we're all on Shanks' Pony.

I'd choose Jomtien to live if you come.  When things come back to (some sort of) life I suspect Jomtien will look a little more occupied than Pattaya.  I swear that driving down 2nd Road in Patts last week, I saw a tumbleweed roll out of Soi13/2.

The Tumbleweed was just a lost Farang looking to make a date......????????????

So they have this stuff just laying around to hand out who ever wants it. I doubt that very much as the storage and handling of this stuff is a pain. it has to be stored at a very low temp.. The equipment necessary to store these vaccines are specially made for this purpose, some Dr. sure would not have this stuff laying around his office.

Doubt it all you want....I just report the facts on the ground and leave it at that...roll on 2022...????????????

Exactly...when I used to live near the Mall Thaphra, used to meet GF after she got off from work, eat dinner at the mall and enjoy a movie before heading home. A lot better than sitting at home and watching TV...humans need a change of pace...a night out is what it's about...not even the movie  or the tech.

Have to agree....nothing better than a movie theater and some fat inducing popcorn....I miss going 3/4 times a week....????????????????

moderna was not imported yet, probably the earliest around october, and not many.

But there were soldiers boasting on social media about having one, also confirmed by one of forum members about a month ago. Some soldiers did get vaccinated in the usa, while on assignment, but it was to their accord (allegedly).

Thaksin said around songkran, that both pfizer and moderna are being used in bangkok

Oh really? My local doctor offered my a jab of Moderna a few weeks back....I told him to save it for someone who needs it....lol....????????????

In the last weeks I saw several opportunities especially for people over 70.

He could get vaccinated in Thailand if he wants to and if he follows the news.

I also know a couple of older people who complain they didn't get vaccinated until now. I sent them messages with details where they could register and get vaccinated.

And then when I ask them I get answer like: I only want xyz vaccine and not any other. Or: Maybe another day. Lots of excuses. Don't blame the Thai government when YOU don't take the opportunities which are offered to you.

You must be a youngster.....it is the right of old folks to complain....what else is there to do?

Don’t be so quick to name and blame.....roll on 2022....????????????????????
