  1. Hi…Covid had mucked things up a bit…but post Covid I anticipate resuming my Thai life with my Thai partner. I’m 68 now and have no ongoing Thai medical insurance. Up until now I’d take out long term travel insurance and then go home to Australia for 3-4 months every year.. As I age that’s probably going to change and I’ll probably need hospital cover in Thailand. My pan is to try to take it out about now so that I’m guaranteed ongoing cover as I age. So my priority is finding an affordable cover that I can take out now and which will guarantee not to cut me off as I get to 75, 80 etc etc… i don’t want outpatient necessarily. I’m fairly healthy now so I am anticipating only needing cover for serious situations….though you never know. I’d probably want to reduce my premium by choosing a high excess….anticipating that ….if I actually need the cover it will be only be for extreme or serious situations… Can anybody with experience share that experience and give me some company names that they recommend….. And if possible some ball park figure around what I’d be paying…..if possible.. Appreciate any help you may care to give and all the best.
  2. Title is self explanatory… Just wondering. I can Google and enquire but I’d like to know the opinion of some regulars if not too much trouble….. And do any publish their daily rates…?

  7. I won’t mention the name. But I paid a considerable sum from Australia to get insurance for the OA visa for a year. last year. I was about to book a flight when the Australian government issued a travel ban. I waited week by week for the travel ban to be lifted…..so I did not cancel my insurance until late. I never got a proper refund….they kept about 90% of the money and they refused to do anything about it. I never left Australia. i couldn’t fly because of the government travel ban not for any reason of my own. Is there a central body that handles complaints like this about Thai insurance companies….? Anybody have any tips…?
  8. Hi there.. My Superannuation fund is saying that my passport ID needs to be certified and a copy sent to them annually… Lucky I checked. Who in Chiang Mai can do this …any one have any info on this topic…? Or any experience with having to send certified ID to their fund at home…..? Always appreciate the help available on this forum…thanks.

  10. Hi everyone, Just looking for some advice from long term expats… I’m stuck in Australia at present because of COVID. I want to send a large sum to my partner in Chiang Mai….maybe a million at the moment. My partner works full time but with a low wage…maybe 12,000 a month…so no tax. My question is: Is there a possibility this money transfer will create problems…? Particularly tax problems for them…? Any experience greatly appreciated… Thanks…
