Not a fan of Trump but between the two choices fewer wars would probably make the world safer.

How did it take you 4.5 hrs to get through immigration from 8am yesterday? I landed at 9am and was in a taxi by 1030am, and that was with the line going all the way down the ramp and past the duty free shop. It's the longest I've ever had to wait but nowhere near 4.5 hours.

Let's hope this gets a ton of traction on Thai social media. 

He sounds like just a local bigwig not anyone of national consequence. So it will just take the attention of someone higher up to suddenly get the wheels of justice (and Baht) moving. 

If you don't complain then the fine usually goes the opposite way- 500 then 200 finally 100.

The bank needs some sort of assurance that you have an ability to pay the loan back beyond verbal promises. 

Thats not stupid, that's the same policy that exists all over the world. 

And the Thais were burned before. After the crisis in 1997 many foreigners just picked up and left the country leaving their underwater loans behind them. That's why it's so difficult now as a foreigner to get a loan for property.

I can still give you all the full names of all the teachers who ever hit me. And i don't even blame them cause they were right in doing so.

 

Just look in the malls and see how unmannered the Thai kids are, even when the parents call them to stop running like crazy they won't listen at all.

I was punished in school too but not with 99 lashes and drawing blood. It was a smack with a ruler across the hands. Enough to make kids scared and a bit of pain but not cause any permanent damage. 

Big difference between what this teacher did and what used to be doled out by teachers in the West.

In translating from drunk to English? 

Whenever a foreigner is sighted selling food it gets nice coverage but the business is shut down shortly thereafter as it's not a permitted activity for foreigners. 

Shame really as some kebab vans would be nice! 

2.5 hours in line for immigration! What a terrible first impression of Phuket that would give someone. 

Sad that the guy made it all the way to 71 but then faced such a big problem he decided to end it all.

There are different transliteration systems out there. Here's another one that spells it as raaw reuua- http://www.thai-language.com/id/196805

Even Thai place names don't follow the same systems. Like Pattaya and Phuket both having a hard P sound.

Didn't see her selling rubber when rubber farmers were struggling during her brother's tenure as PM.

That article explains a lot more about the case but it still seems he should not be in jail. Looks like confusion surrounding the facts made worse by a letter from the Dutch pushing the Thai government for information on his assets that ended up putting him in jail.

He shot one of the police as they came in. 

So so he may have tripped and fallen repeatedly on his face as a result! 

Quick walk to both the BTS and MRT. Tons of street food around, especially during the week. Lots of small restaurants in the area. Lumphini nearby if you like to jog. Decent hospital walkable. 

Biggest st drawback is you're surrounded by bad traffic areas. Also it's a very busy area. 

Do that in the US and she would have been tazed at best.
