  1. Slightly off topic I know but I saw a couple of articles in Thai press this week about gun violence against some farang.

A 64 yr old Austrian guy driving in Surat with his wife was shot twice, one in each arm by a motorcyclist. Apparently the farang appeared to be a "hot headed type."

The second victim was an Australian bloke who was eating at a restaurant with a woman. Seems that the woman's ex husband hired a gunman to shoot the farang who ,the article reported was in a serious condition in hospital.

Thai rape victims are often (usually) brutally killed as well.......At least according to the Thai papers which are full of violent crime and accident reports.

  2. You're right about the richest man being in charge of the pig industry here. The northern hills have been cleared to plant the corn needed to fatten the filthy swine. Now the hills are ablaze or smoldering as the corn stubs are burned to prepare for more of the same next year. Untouchable. Even 4G wouldn't help that......or tech savvy Thai engineers for that matter.

I see the future for Thailand in the chemical industry producing dangerous chemicals that no one else wants to touch. It's no coincidence that the planned Chinese train terminates at Ma Tha Phut, the epicentre of the Thai chemical industry and the most polluted part of the country. I met some nurses from there recently and they all want to relocate due to the astronomical cancer rates there.

Me a pessimist??!! Why do you say that?

  3. Sorry folks.......Disregard my previous post.

I don't know what footprint map I saw last week but I just checked it again to be sure........Now I see that this latest footprint map shows thailand in the picture. .....at least 90% of the country. Unfortunately for me the Chiang Mai region looks like it's right on the border of the signal. I'm going to look into it but am suddenly a bit hopeful that I might be able to get it again on my 7 foot dish.

  4. A new type of "suicide bomber" might emerge. Willing martyrs infected with the virus could be sent to strike down offensive infidels in evil lands, Heavily sweating, salivating ........ pushing through crowded areas dispensing the viral load onto the unsuspecting hosts.

Think I'll go and pick up a few months supply of baked beans and bottled water.

  5. I'm not a pensioner but live on oz term deposit interest. I transfer some over to my bank here when needed. Not the required 65K a month but I've got a few hundred thousand baht in a thai bank too. In combination they top the 800k requirement.

Thanks for your replies and all the best to you.
