Think about it! Why does anything happen in LOS?
Money and power. And apparently Anutin doesn’t have enough of either one yet. God help Thailand, though, if he becomes the next PM.

Making jokes at the expense of a woman who’s severely depressed. Real classy.

It will likely only be temporary anyway but if her hair is falling out as well then a repeat procedure might not be worth the bother.
Did you read the article? Said it’s been like this for two years, so hardly temporary.

My mate got stopped at a Police checkpoint, checking his alcohol level he failed miserably, he was able to walk to an ATM get money, pay people off, and drive home.
So you’re okay with someone who is intoxicated being allowed to drive home? What if he had caused an accident and had killed someone because he was drunk?

That seems to be the Thai solution to everything, especially from the powers that be. Doesn’t matter if we don’t do our jobs well or not at all, or even completely screw up everything that we do: we will sue you for defamation and/or slander if you dare criticize us!

“Agriculture minister dies swine fever cover-up.”
Of course he does, that’s what they do: deny, deflect and blame someone else. Any cabinet member, including Dear Leader, would deny having stolen cookies even if they were caught with one hand in the cookie jar and the other hand wiping the crumbles from their mouth.

Thailand best place to retire in Asia.
* if you like jumping through all kinds of hoops to get the appropriate visa
* if you like dual pricing
* if you like the most dangerous roads on the planet
* if you like thick smog 4-5 months every year when you live up north or in the greater BKK area
* if you like a totally corrupt country with an equally corrupt military regime
Other than that (and I’m sure I forgot a few things) it’s heaven on earth.

He really doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about, does he? Omicron is even hitting countries hard where 80-90% of the people are fully vaccinated and more than half have had their booster shot. Thailand doesn’t come close to these figures. And this guy is running the health department and is in charge of the COVID response. The only glimmer of hope is that Omicron is apparently not as potent as Delta. Fingers crossed.

Totally agree with you, the powers that be need a swift kick in the butt, or as many as it takes for them to get the message and finally start doing something about the horrendous air pollution. But the thing is that they probably don’t suffer so much from this pollution, because they can afford aircon and the best air filters that money can buy. The ordinary folk are the ones that suffer the most, having to go to work on their motorbikes every day, having to spend time outdoors every day, and living in houses without aircon or air filters.

What is worrying is that this was apparently an anonymous review. So how did the hotel track her down? Also, the review has been removed now, and she did not remove it. Some really dirty business is going on here. She should file a counter suit and sue the pants off of that fracking hotel, among other things for violating her privacy.

Anyone who thinks this rich brat will spend even one minute in jail needs to have their head examined. Thailand is corrupt to the core, money is king in this country. And his family has oodles of money, so he will always have an endless supply of ‘get out of jail free’ cards, no matter what. Nothing you can do about it, TIT.

The Pollution Control Department
Bit of a misnomer, isn’t it? I mean, they do nothing to control pollution, as far as I can tell, all they do is observe/establish when it happens and then issue warnings. Easiest job in the world.

There is no indication in the story that the woman was poor. You assume she 'had some hard choices to make'. The choice she made to ride her motorcycle sidecar with a young child at 3am was the wrong call. Will it be repeated by others in the future? Of course it will, because of lack of Thai highway discipline. They're their own worst enemies.
So you’re accusing me and others on this forum of assuming things, while you’re doing exactly the same thing. Do you have any knowledge about why the woman chose to ride that vehicle at 3 am? I’m just saying there may have been circumstances that she had no choice, while you boldly claim that it’s always the wrong thing to do, no matter what. Life is not all black and white, you know.

Placing their family in danger knowingly is even worse - Obviously not in all, but in many cases precautions can be taken.
In this case - ensuring lights on the Samlor. In other cases ensuring the rear lights on the motorcycle are working. In other cases not riding at 30kmh down the centre of the road while the rest of the traffic is flowing at 60kmh. In other cases stopping at a junction rather than looking when its too late etc etc....
In my case it's ensuring the car is road worthy whenever going on a long trip... i.e. checking the tyre pressures regularly and before every long journey. It's ensuring my son is in his car seat, belted up properly each and every journey.
There are always ‘some’ precautions we can take to reduce our risk no matter what socio-economic demographic we originate.
Obviously you have never been in a situation where you didn’t have two baht to rub together and had some hard choices to make.

Speculation that he caused the accident and was under the influence.
Whereas there was no speculation at all on your part when you implied that the woman may have been drunk, or her motorbike had no tail lights?

Life is very hard for a lot of people in Thailand. If you don’t work, or have a family to rely on, you have no income and you go hungry, it’s as simple as that. My girlfriend was a single mom with young twins before I met her, and she had it tough like you wouldn’t believe.
So they don’t always place themselves in danger unwittingly because they are uneducated, but because they have no other options, they simply don’t have a choice. Desperate people will do anything to make some money so they and their child(ren) can eat.-

If you can't afford a 'proper vehicle' then you shouldn't be on the road. Simple innit?
Speculation.
You really don’t get it, do you? Must be so nice to hold the moral high ground and always be right.

Watching the UK news today someone was claiming the omicron variant is no less severe than delta it is just that some many people are now vaccinated and boosted and/or have had covid19 that it appears to be less aggressive?????
From what I understand, Omicron is (a lot) more infectious and makes more people sick, but they generally become less sick and less people die from it, even those who are not vaccinated. I’ve heard virologists say they hope Omicron will soon become the dominant variant world wide.

Jeez dude, show a little empathy. That woman is dead now, the little girl seriously injured, and you sit there on your high horse passing judgement? Has it ever occurred to you that many people in Thailand are poor and can not afford to buy ‘proper’ vehicles, so they are forced to fabricate things themselves in order to make living? Has it ever occurred to you that, instead of being drunk, like you implied, she was maybe on the way to the market or something at 3 AM?

What a cowardly act.
Exactly, the lowest of the low. Happens more and more often in my country as well, people causing accidents and then doing a runner, probably because they are drunk or high on dope, leaving (seriously) injured victims behind. The law needs to become a lot harsher for scum like this, or people who kill someone while driving drunk, high or playing/texting on their phones.

Gee, I wonder why that is? Could it be because the RTP can’t be @rsed to do their job most of the time? So the chances of getting caught driving drunk are usually very small to non-existent?
Over 30 Migrants Arrested in Kanchanaburi Province
in Central Thailand
Posted
You can arrest as many migrants as you want; as long as the people who organize and facilitate these things on the Thai side of the border are left in peace, it will continue. So how about rounding up some of these organizers and facilitators who make (a lot of) money off of this human trafficking? Oh wait, I forgot, they can’t be touched because of all the brown envelopes they distribute, and all the payments they make to the retirement fund of the RTP.
