  1. The crash was announced already months ago. The ones who suffer the most are the day traders who trade risky stocks or warrants and don't clear their positions on time and be out before 16:30 in the SET. But a seasoned day trader who knows how to move well, isn't at risk. Swing trading is also risky when markets are falling, it's best to be out of the market every trading day. That is one of the main rules of day traders. Nobody knows what's going to happen the next trading day. Yesterday the SET closed down -64.55 points (-4.73%). A big bang for the Thai stock market. And I still booked some profit yesterday. I don't mean by this that I'm a good day trader. All I do is learn, learn, learn and be very strict with myself to apply the important rules.

To answer the OP, I don't think that we are all doomed. Some have already lost fortunes during the last few trading days. For most people the very best is to stay out of the market at this bearish time. Some analysts talk of a major correction.

  2. I did find a review of a customer who transferred a large amount of Euros to Thailand which is very good. The review can be found here, you have to go maybe 5 pages far. Anyway the review is very good, I made a screenshot, so you can see it for yourself:

    post-5472-0-55853900-1440346820_thumb.pn

    It says in English:

Top Transfer! You can transfer your money with confidence.

I have just transferred 6000 euros to Thailand bank to bank (France > Thailand).

Promise fulfilled! Exchange rate superior to other sites, fee more than reasonable Time: 3 days!

I have called their hotline only once, you can speak English or French, the answers are precise.

I will more than ever recommend this site.

  3. Hi all,

let's forget about Transferwise, good exchange rates but transfer fees at now at 1.5% what you transfer to Thailand...

I just stumbled on another money transfer company which calls itself:

Xendpay - The world's first free money transfer service!

Well free is great, their exchange rates are equal to Transferwise, but you can decide on what fee you want them to charge you, that fee can be 0.00%.

    Check it out at www.xendpay.com

My question is: has anyone ever transferred with them? If yes, how reliable are they on their free transfer promise and on the speed of transfer? They seem to be in business since 2012. So they're not a new kid on the block.

I would just like to add: If you send cash money from your bank abroad to your bank account in Thailand(no credit cards involved) your money is transferred the day Xendpay receives your money in their European account and they say it takes 3 days to receive your money in Thailand. So, if you transfer out on Monday (before 12:00 your banks time) it should arrive Xendpay on Tuesday and they would send it out to your Thai bank the same day. Arrival in your Thai bank account Thursday. You can send as little as 1£, 1$ or 1 Euro. I will do that.

  4. For sure , Google will not find any info as it is not there to find and also at present there is no real need for an international airport , although it would be great not to have the travel from and to Bangkok to get up here .I have been told that In the pipeline there are substantial development plans for the region and it is this that would justify such an investment . What I have written to date is not conjecture or gossip ,I think that this is more than just a rumour and there is serious consideration for this facility . There were two recent occasions that I know of where this development has been mentioned , one was at a local government office and the other from a much higher level in Surin both times falangs were involved .I also found out last evening that two villages in the proposed build area had got together with their head of the villages to voice their concerns . .

Neither Buriram or Surin airports are capable of sustaining expansion to accommodate international flights and have been ruled out .

Last of all ,please dont shoot the messenger , I have only penned this post for exposure on the subject and to find out if there was any credible information.

    Al,

nobody complains about your post, in the contrary, I'm actually happy you wrote about it. It sure gives food for thought. I might create such an airport in FSX.

  5. This sounds pretty interesting but equally not feasible. Who in the world would create an international airport at this godforsaken place and more astounding that A380's would be flying there. What date are we today? No, its not April 1st. Buriram airport, a brainchild of Mr. Nevin (owner of Buriram United) is only about 75 km away from Surin (I remember the opening) and that airport has virtually no traffic at all. I think right now only Nok Air and Air Asia serve Buriram. If they both fly 7/7 that would make 2 landings and 2 takeoffs per day. And still many customer s complain of flight delays or flight cancellations at that small airport. How is that possible?

I googled in English and in Thai to find any mentioning about that project, but as for now there are no results. This is probably only a rumor to push up land prices in the area.

  6. The person making a killing from those books will be the authors, either you got it or you don't, sorry son if you haven't come up with a way of making a living in Thailand yet your not likely to and just going to be on struggle street like a lot of people....

"The person making a killing from the book are the auyhors"

Any IT literate knows how do get those books for free, I just downloaded all of them for FREE and transferred them to my Galaxy tablet Note 8.

  7. I have also just noticed that the document I signed at the station says " I was driving carelessly and that it's my fault". So I automatically took the blame without any investigation or anything.. unbelievable.

When I asked in the station what the document says, I was told it's a notification for the appointment on saturday.

I'm not at all surprised to read this. In the almost 30 years I live here, police and insurance always concluded that I was the one who caused the accident. I have always had full insurance coverage. Insurance usually works hand in hand with the police to make the farang pay. I never caused an accident here but I was always the one who paid.

I had one of these in my office - brilliant and never skipped a beat and never a problem for years. Other more modern looking Gaggia options below.

I think in Central Dept Store they sell a fairly decent range as well.

For Espresso machines, best to buy a machine from a company that actually specialises in coffee machines rather than a generalist appliance maker like Delongi.

The Syncrony logic machine looks about right!

Honda Automobiles (Thailand) uses them in their service centers. Great looking machine making great coffee. Saw it about a month ago on www.numchai.com online for 17+ K, but I can't see it anymore there. At that low price, sold out probably very quickly. Liked it so much that I even took a picture.

  9. "I pray every night, and a part of me believes he has forgiven me," Anna told reporters and cried.

Well Anna part of me believes, the dead RTP officer does not forgive you at all, in fact he is very angry and upset that he will not see his daughters grow up, never see his future grandchildren and never be able to hold his wife again.

But don't let that worry you during your 7 day holiday in the wat.

    Very well said.

  10. TV at its worst in this thread, or best depending on your point of view.

I doubt many if any posters have spent time in a monastery. The knee jerk "this is what happens where i come from" view is so shallow but so prevalent. Hey don't get me wrong, There are plenty of things that shit me in Thailand but i like to be informed before I get on my horse and rant.

Otherwise you are just another lonely coin in jar rattling 'bing' to those that go "yeah"

It is common for Thais to spend time in monasteries for short or longer periods. Many will have encountered boys who commonly will shave their heads before an event or even a marriage. The girls too will enter as Anna has done, but commonly do not shave their heads and it does not excuse or exempt them from observational duties inside the nunnery.

I am not excusing Anna's crime nor commenting on her manner of penitence as i have been hyper critical of her elsewhere, but the sickening catch cry of a nun with hair says so much more about the depth of knowledge of TV posters than anything else. The wonton have a crack at Thailand but i don't want to relocate home is sad.

    Wizen up warriors

"but the sickening catch cry of a nun with hair says so much more about the depth of knowledge of TV posters than anything else."

Are you blind??? The title in this thread says "becomes nun". She's not a nun. She shows up as a laywoman with one small difference: afaik a laywoman's clothes are white..

  11. Why has she got hair? I've never seen a nun with hair. Oh, wait...I know...because it's just a typical superficial HiSo gesture that makes everything better. Is she going to shell out 3 million baht to the victim's family like the Red Bull punk's daddy did?

I second that. A Thai Buddhist nun has no hair. Period. Imagine a Thai man in a Buddhist monks robe with all his hair still uncut. They surely must be laughing their heads off over at the Religious Department. She's an actress. Now, that's very badly acted. It certainly doesn't make viewers believe what she says she's doing.

I was ordained a monk for 2 weeks after my mother died here in Thailand. I first had to get my hair shaved off and only thereafter I went to the temple to get ordained.

  12. s far as I know there aren't any. The south of the country is poorly served with pool shops. In fact, quite paradoxically, most pool owners on the Surat Thani - Nakhon Si Thammarat stretch 'import' what they need from Samui! I can't see how the double logistics for pool salt can be truly economical, especially considering that because it is a cheap , the transport costs more than the product.

I belive that one of the sponsors here does a weekly (or perhaps fortnightly?) delivery service for orders to that area at a reasonable cost. That's what they do for my house near Krabi anyway but I have to take a minimum of 30 sacks.

    Hi Chaichara,

thank you for your input. Well, you can serve as a retailer for pool salt in Krabi area. 30 bags would go a long way, except if you have a very large inground pool. Make it known in Krabi area

  13. Hi everyone,

I had asked Transferwise to inform me when transfers to Thailand would be available again. Waking just up in the middle of the night, Transferwise came to my mind and I opened their website. Holy Camoly! Transferwise is back with transferring currencies to THB, just check it out at www.transferwise.com. Has anyone used their services recently?

I have just received the following message from Transferwise:
