  1. Watching Chalerm these past 2 weeks, one senses that he has been laying out his trap and taunting Suthep along the way. Psychological pressure increased by small increments.

You ruined your post with the last sentence.

Considering Chalerms promise from last year about being headless come the new year would you take anything the man says seriously ?....

  2. Sorry expatsupreme but with the panic in your post, your name is a bit ironic.....

For the condo/house argument - I lived in a 12th floor condo for 2 years in Sth Pattaya and got broken into twice.

Have lived in a house in the sticks for many more and not once has it happened. Have an alarm system that's never turned on and bars on the windows that I hate but I think are probably effective. Have a policeman for a neighbour. Have 4 dogs.

Now touching wood......(no, not my own!)

  3. The new owners are making a damn fine effort at tearing new ones for all existing members.

As well as the above mentioned I've been informed the 24k yearly fee is not per membership but per member - so this means kids and wives playing off hubbies membership need to fork out 24k themselves as well for the privilege of giving even more money to Khun Yaowapa - nice !

To add to the woes, a few of the other items they've announced : they want bookings 7 days in advance, there's 3 different levels of membership from VIP to Scrub - not sure whats the one in the middle but the club are proud to announce that all levels will be treated differently - again not sure how but presumably in reactions ranging from fawning to contempt.

One caddie who was at a meeting with the GM informed that when the caddies announced the general feeling of discontent among the members they had been caddying for, the response was that they don't give a toss and if anyone wants to sell their membership they'll buy them back at 20% of the value - which based on the sudden plummet in numbers playing there will be 0 baht.

A purge well done I say.

  4. Surprising no-one from BPH has been on this thread to counteract the slating it's getting. Doesn't look good for them staying silent on this.

When was the last time you saw any business owner respond to comments on Thai Visa? Most of them don't bother to read these forums.

Fair point about them replying but I'm pretty sure BPH do have people from their international department that read these forums - though a reply is hardly expected I guess.

On a positive note about the place, I went to have a lesion removed from my shoulder last month. Same treatment I had about 3 years ago and see the cost had increased by only about 100 baht - 6100 to 6200 baht for laser removal biopsy. The doctor was excellent with the information and the treatment was immediate with the results back before time as well. I've rarely had a bad experience in the place and can't really complain about the cost either.

Compare that to another incident last month while near the Burmese border where I had to go to a government hospital due to back muscles seizing up. Requested a relaxant injection and I'm certain all I received was water or something - while the cost was almost zero, the effect was zero.

My wife told me later that it's known that the drugs that are being used by gov hospitals are being watered down so at the end of the day I'm glad I have BPH available....and to have insurance to cover it....

  5. I was 'upgraded' (remotely - no new SIM) last week and unless you're in town the difference on the darkside seems negligible. However in town the speed appears to have improved....a bit....

  6. Until last year I had the same issue with changing the inlet filters every few months. I did some googling and found that the problem isnt the water, it was the clear covered filter I had installed. Any minuscule amount of microbes will grow at an incredible rate under natural light so once I changed the filter housing to an opaque one the filters now last many many times longer and the gunk that used to build up is practically nonexistent.

  7. I heared of this before, several years ago. Frind of mine had a burglary in his bar in Jomtien, and the only item missing was his beloved dog. Didn't get it back despite spreading leaflets over half the country. I have a large Pitbull female as well, and when I'm outdoors with her, I keep an eye on her all the time. Not that I'm afraid that she attacks people, I know my dog. I'm afraid she could be stolen.

When you out, you let your pitbul walk off leash?

That is a prime example of responsible and sensible dog ownershipblink.png

How can you make an stupid comment like above without knowing Potosi or the dog ?

You know I'd wager you're clueless about dogs and have that pitbull for show, possibly trained to attack with ears and tail cut ?...correct me if I'm wrong about any of the previous.

  8. Similar story with me some years ago: went to the place late one Saturday afternoon to place my order for a new camry - a lot of the workers had left at this stage. The well presented lad who took my deposit told me he'd try and get the delivery date of 7-8 weeks shortened by a few weeks. 1 1/2 months later I dropped in to find out when it was on it's way only to find a claim that no-one had a clue about my order. I produced the receipt and they then claimed the guy who took the order was fired the following week and didn't work there any more. They claimed they couldn't find their copy of the receipt initially but then after I made it obvious they were going nowhere with that shlt they said they found it but the order had never been placed. Another 6 week wait.

We're just stuck with what we have here as regards selection and the fact that the customer is never right.
