  1. rip Kunakorn Srisuwan

do they have the bullets that caused his death and if so can they prove 100% that they where fired from an army weapon and can say who fired the weapon using forensics if not they dont have a case . just having bullets from a similar weapon proves nothing and could have been discharched by anyone from anywhere in the vacinity .

Proving the bullets came from an army weapon doesn't mean too much since most of those style weapons have been stolen from the army in the first place. The army are in the enviable position of either denying or confirming that the weapon was or was not previously stolen - as they wish probably without question. It is strange that a 14 year old boy was wandering around a war zone though. And how are they able to determine that the boy was or was not red or yellow ? what reporting !

  2. We (wife + kids) used to go to Ban Amphur beach quite a bit before and the 4 of us used to spend about an hour walking and piling the trash up high on the beach away from the water line - in the hope that the restaurants would eventually be embarrassed enough to clear it away from their patch. The muck and shit that comes from that sea is phenomenal but even that single hour with only 2 adults and 2 kids used to make a huge difference. Locals and expats sitting along the restaurants used to look at us as if we were mad. The quantity arriving on pattaya beaches varies depending on the time of year with rainy season being just pityful. Haven't been to Ban Amphur for a while but I hope it's improved again.

Also snorkelling in Phuket last year and watching fish trying to eat the plastic in the water was sick.

The winner though has to be the sewer that used to run into the sea under the old pier at the beginning of walking street. Excrement and condoms were the stars of the show - apart from the kids paddling in the sea less than a hundred meters from there.

It'd be so easy for the government to request the NBTC to insist the writers of soap operas incorporate a few scenes each month related to polution which might eventually sink in to the doe-eyed audience. But I guess they've got more pressing issues...

  3. Up until about a year ago there was a German man who had a milling workshop on Nern Plubwan - I haven't been past there since. It's a series of shophouses closed in on the left hand side as you head towards the temple at the end of the road. I can't remember the name but it's about 1/2 to 1 km back from the temple. It doesn't look anything like a workshop from the outside but was a tidy setup inside - there is some sort of sign outside indicating an Engineering business.

Failing that you could head to Mapthaput.

  4. I resisted from commenting on this when it was opened before but since it's at the top of the pile of threads again: I haven't experienced any of the Sunrise Taco's establishments but did experience the ST van at the Jesters fair weeks ago and sorry to say but first impressions of the tacos were not good. Tasteless. Wouldn't make we want to go to one of the fixed locations.

  5. Bit late for the op but for anyone else interested - Jas the tailor in Flipper Lodge on soi 8 is to be recommended. I've brought a few people to him over the years and the work has always been very good and very reasonable. If you want a certain style then bring him the details and if it can be done then he'll let you know and vice versa.

  6. Do Citibank have a branch open in Pattaya ?

Is see from a question posed in 2009 that they didn't at that stage but want to know if this has changed since.

    Thanks

    For the moderators:

If I search Citibank Pattaya on Google it brings me to Thaivisa Pattaya forum where someone posted this question in 2009.

But if I use the TV forum search engine it doesn't find the same thread.

  7. Sorry again. Coming in dribs and drabs. I only did this 3 weeks ago but with my memory it's like 3 years.

You also need an affidavit from immigration proving your address in Thailand - this costs 200 baht at Pattaya immigration - for that you need your passport and a recent utility bill with your name on it and 2 passport photo's.

  8. You can get a 1 year IDP from the Department of Land Transport in Chonburi.

Heading from Pattaya on Sukhumvit - it's about 6 or 7 km (I think) AFTER Chonburi on the right hand side of the road (keep driving until you see a walkover the motorway with a large green sign and an arrow pointing right - do a u-turn and your about 200m from the entrance on the left.

Drive in and try to find parking - the most difficult part of the whole process.

The building is on the left had side almost in line with the sign that indicates 'Drive Thru'.

There's a woman at a desk who will take your documents and instruct you to go to a numbered window where you put them in a tray and wait to be called.

I got there about 11:15 and was told to come back at 1:30 but the woman did say that if I was about half an hour earlier I could have got it within half an hour.

    You'll need:

    - Thai driving licence

    - Copy of front and back of driving licence

    - 550 baht

    - Copy of passport main page - can't remember if I had to show the passport as well

    - Two passport photo's

Here's a google maps screenshot of the location

  9. If you're travelling down Sth Pattaya road from Sukhumvit, just before 2nd road, there's a soi to the right and in there is a very good acupuncturist clinic. It's a small shop and sorry I've no name for them but it's obvious when you get there.

  10. I can recommend the lad suggested by Banglay - he came and done some repair work at my place a few weeks ago - did a very tidy and efficient job and considering the amount of work he did the cost was very reasonable for himself and his worker.

    He's a gentleman as well.

  11. Last year there was an article in the newspapers about a Cartoon Network themed water park opening between Jomtien and Bang Saray in the beginning of 2013 but now I see another place advertised called Ramayana Water Park ( ramayanwaterpark.com )

Does any know what is happening with either ? Is there going to be 2 parks or did Cartoon Network get nervous ?

  12. I've been noticing the same thing with our AIS phone signals. It's been degraded for a number of months already. I contacted them about it and they said that there was nothing they were aware of. So nothing else to do for them.

You mention BTV cable : I'm interested to know what's their connection like in the area ? I've heard they can be hit and miss with speeds.

  13. Hi,

I've been connecting with a TruemoveH dongle for quite a few years and was reasonably happy with the connection speed. I also live about a 1/2 mile from Mabprachan.

But last month it slowed to the point where opening newspaper pages was taking up to 30-40 seconds. I gave it a few days but it stayed the same so I got in touch with True and found out that my 'unlimited' monthly connection has a 5gb limit which had been reached and the system had automatically reduced my connection speed (down to 10% of nominal) until the end of the monthly cycle - then I'm back to normal speed until my unlimited limit is reached again.

After I stopped laughing I asked when this limit had suddenly appeared and she told me it's always been there. My wife later confirmed the same as she signed for it. As usual I was oblivious to this.

At this stage I was only 5 or 6 days into the monthly cycle and even though I sometimes download a bit of music, I couldn't understand what was going on and why it was reached so quickly until I realized the kids have been you-tubing and playing a lot of online games over the holidays and especially over those few days.

I think we're paying 899/month for this 'unlimited' connection.

I might be wrong but I think AIS have a limit as well.
