  1. Yes, I guess she just said everything she could think of – all three forms. I was only speaking to the woman for about 2 minutes. Your post does tend to contradict the previous post but it seems more logical to me Sole Custody = Sole Custody. Especially if you have doe it already for your wife!

  2. With regard to our situation that we want to take my wife’s son 12 with us to the UK. When I went to the Embassy the woman said three forms were necessary; Sole Custody Form, a letter from the father giving permission to get a Thai passport and a letter from him giving permission to take the boy to the UK.

OK, but it occurs to me that if we have the Sole Custody Form that gives my wife the right to provide the other two letters herself. Am I correct? Sole Custody means Sole Custody right?

The father is alive but has had nothing to do with the family for years. Does not contribute to their upkeep and has not seen the boy for years – according to my wife.

  3. So it seems to me that a sole custody document can be issued by the Ampur or maybe a court.

The latest I have found out is that my wife has had some discussions with people at the Ampur and she seems to say that they have given her sole custody already - as her ex deserted the family and does not contribute - infact she does not know where he is and they are divorced.

So what I need is evidence that she has sole custody - a sole custody document.

It may not need to involve the court if we can get one authorized by the Ampur.

Please feel free to coment I'm trying to work through everything!

  4. I am hoping to take my wife and her son age 12 back with me to live in the UK. I have lived in Thailand for some years and now its time to go back for a while.

We will be married and she came for a holiday to the UK with me last year.

So I can show that we are:

    1. In a real long term relationship.

    2. We have somewhere to live. My Dad has a big house and he is on his own now – one of the reasons we are going back.

    3. I have some money that has been left to me when my Mum died last year. Not much but enough for about one and a half years salary at my level of work. So should keep us going for at least a year.

Does any one have any comments or experience of take a spouse and a child to the UK? What do I need to think about for visa etc.?

    Thanks

  5. There are three types of Intentional Schools in Thailand. The real ones – ISB, NIST and one or two others. The aspiring ones – those that are going though accreditation or don’t pay to well and are trying to build up a customer base. And the pretend ones – use the word international to make them sound a little better than Thai schools.

The first group you will work hard and get paid well – if you can get the job! They recruit in UK, US and prefer teachers to come direct from there to their schools.

The second group can still be interesting. Not such good pay but also not so much work – maybe. For some this may be a good option – easier to get a job – if your qualified. Get away from the pressure of teaching in a UK, US school.

The last group may be OK if you want to take over – become the Headmaster say. Someone with very little teaching experience or qualifications but a lot of front can do that. I know someone who has. So take your pic – money, lifestyle or empire building!

will give you a good list.

  6. We have just, yesterday, been granted a visa for a four week holiday. I am in similar circumstances to yourself it seems. You need to show:

    1. You have enough money for the trip. I am financing my GF’s trip and she has no job here or money.

    2. Your GF is going to return to Thailand. House ownership document + coming back with you.

    3. You have a genuine relationship.

    4. You have somewhere to stay.

Get insurance for her possible medical expenses – 1500 baht – Visa Fast Lane Plus is what we got. A doctors note – don’t know if this is a requirement but less than 100 baht anyway.

Don’t go too early as he said – we did and had to go back again!

Don’t mention the bar work if you don’t need to!

They want to see that she is coming back and that there is as little chance as possible that she costs the British tax payer anything.

    Good luck.

  7. MP me if you want a xel personal withholding tax calculator- I could not atatch it for some reason. You just put in your income and it works out howmuch tax you should be paying.

43,000 you shoudl pay 2925 per moth 35,100 per year

It is better to be over taxed than have to pay an extra amount at the end of the year. As happend to me once - can we have 13000 please?
