  1. Has anyone taken the time to look at Walden's website? I did. I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe. Their page titled The Method will leave you speechless. After that, you can read all of the five testimonials. Yes, five. I'm going to pop into my local Walden International School to take advantage of their

    Free Demonstration

You are welcome to come to our school and have a free demonstration of the Method, we are sure you will enjoy it.

I'm sure I will. Everything I've seen from the OP and his website reminds me of Gerald Ratner and his famous speech:

Although widely regarded as "tacky", the shops and their wares were nevertheless extremely popular with the public, until Ratner made a speech on 23 April 1991. During the speech, he commented:

    “ We also do
cut-glass sherry decanters complete with six glasses on a silver-plated
tray that your butler can serve you drinks on, all for £4.95. People
say, "How can you sell this for such a low price?", I say, "because it's
    total crap." ”

He compounded this by going on to remark that some of the earrings were "cheaper than an M&S prawn sandwich but probably wouldn't last as long." Ratner's comments have become textbook examples of the folly of making fun of, and showing contempt to, customers. In the furore that ensued, customers exacted their revenge by staying away from Ratner shops. After the speech, the value of the Ratner group plummeted by around £500 million, which very nearly resulted in the firm's collapse.

  2. in the old days, when you turn things off, it was "off".

Now days, when you turn thing off, its actually "asleep".

People dont want to wait for things to power up and finish its bootup period. So manufactures designed appliances to "sleep". In the "off" state, the clock may be still running, its in/out circuits are still on, waiting for you to use your remote. This may be called the "overhead" power, or the quiescent power for the system. This "overhead power" while its much less than the "on" power, still adds up to a lot of power draw, if you count the numbers.

    Again, set your thermostats higher

use fans instead of AC where possible

    turn off all unused lights

If everyone contributes, that should be enough to push off blackouts.

This is not that uncommon in other countries

as well as the belly-aching about it smile.png

If you're near my age, then you'll remember a time WITHOUT AC

be thankful for what you've got biggrin.png

If you turn off your air con but don't turn off the breaker switch you still use a lot of electricity.

Can you please explain the logic behind your statement?

Simple answer no. Two Thai electricians told us to turn off the breaker. I thought they were mad. I looked at the meter with the T.V. and computer on and it was going round like a rocket. I turned off the a/c breaker and the meter slowed right down. Check it out for yourself.

  4. My friend has been trying to get his queue on line for a couple of days but every attempt to get onto CM Immigration's web site has failed. Does anyone know if they are re building their site or if anyone has successfully got onto the site in the last few days?

    Thanks

  5. To put the burning law into perspective, the owner of the land near my home has about twenty longan trees and burns leaves once or twice a week. The fires are lit at about 5p.m. and there is a huge column of white smoke which can easily be seen and also there's the smell. Opposite this is a police station. They must be able to smell the smoke as we can and the police station is closer than we are. If the police can't be bothered to cross a road to put a fire out what chance do we have enforcing the burning law?
