The junta has the perfect weapon: time.Thais (like most people, especially kids) get easily bored and forgetful unless they are constantly stimulated which is the agenda. OK, perhaps they haven't considered the resurrection of the "Shirts" before, during or after the next election, if there is one, But it seems they are either boring people into forgetting what colour shirt they are or making people not care. I live in staunch red shirt country, but i haven't seen anyone wearing a Taksin shirt, hanging Taksin posters outside their house or spoken to any opinionated person for over six months.

At some yes.

At least 100k baht in the bank or proof of income is needed to apply at Penang which is the only other nearby location that will do the multiple entry non-o.

Have you been to America? I went in 1991 and I was shocked at how much they ate and what they ate. Lazy Britain today is catching up fast though. When I first came to Thailand fifteen years ago, you could spit for luck when you saw a chubby kid. Now they're everywhere. Thai junk food or western junk food? Maybe Thai junk food inspired by western junk food. Where did global franchise junk food originate? It's addictive. It's a fix. It gets you high. Why do you think obese people don't have a problem when they look in the mirror. Add that to the little emperor syndrome that's so prevalent and what do you get?

Postal items entering Thailand with a value less than B1,000 are not taxed by customs. When I order anything from overseas I ask the seller to mark the item at $20 and a gift. Once I had a package delivered marked as above and the postman said there was customs duty to pay (showed me the paperwork from customs. He wasn't trying it on.) I told him to return the item back to the sender at the cost of customs because I refuse to pay duty. Two days later the postman returned with the package and no duty. The post office had contacted customs to inform them the package was rejected. They then realized they would be out of pocket and folded. If you marked your value as being over B1,000 then you've had it i'm afraid.
