Prayuth forget to tell that the plane carried Thai's from the Middle East with also 14 Thai infections.
As for foreigners even if they open the borders the Europeans will not come and South America, the US and as well the Mideast are in a mess which leaves only ASEAN countries and East Asia which have seen spikes.
Keeping the border closed might be the best option but my guess Prayuth soon will announce foreigners with Thai wifes or children are not permitted to come back.

You dont seem to have a clue. All the new cases are Thai's returning from abroad.
Quoteand how about the 19 Covid-19 infections from deported Burmese last month. That clearly were Burmese that got infected in Thailand so all this local transmission is rubbish.

You are spot on. I have seen in the South how the monkeys are trained from a small age onward's and it doesn't looks very good and sure is cruel but they are now mainly used for tourist attractions.

Australia and NZ will not come and I heard they keep the airport close for another few months on international flights.

I would stay for the time being from Wellness. Most medical tourists from overseas come from the Middle East and South Asia and Covid-19 is still very much active in those countries.

What about those tourists that have been stuck in Thailand since March and can't get back home.
Their are many flights that can be flown out but you cant fly in but you can fly out. Qatar, LH and KLM are active from end of the month

Those loaded with cash go to places to be seen. St. Moritz, Nice, Monaco, Marbella, Singapore, Whistler, Macau and a few rounds of black jack and poker at the casino's.
Thailand should attract the Middle Class spenders but if I have to chose between Phuket and Bali I would pick Bali.

Thailand is left out on all travel bubbles because of the racist issues of Anutin and they must wait for India, China and Russia to rediscover Thailand. As an example Bangkok is a shopping destinations for tourists from ASEAN countries but even if they open the borders the Indonesians, Malays and Singaporeans will not come just to save a few bucks to go shopping or have a foot massage. The Top Destinations of Singapore Airlines due to a survey are Germany, South Korea, Australia, Japan and Taiwan.
It looks clear to me that the global travel industry is focusing on the free world and that leaves Thailand completely out and with Russia, India and China still have not cleared Covid-19 many governments around the world see Thailand to close to China so my guess they can only establish a travel bubble with other countries that give a damn about environments, human rights and sustainable tourism.
The only thing that is on the table is a Green Lane for business travelers to come back including a large number of engineers as many factories have issues with their machinery and those machines need to be maintained by overseas staffs from the manufacturers mainly from Japan, South Korea, China and Europe.
Thailand is finished and a lot of hotels will cancel the lease or convert into condos and the country have to start back from scratch 1 from the 80's.
Malaysia has not that problem as they have a country such as Singapore as a neighbor and a lot of Indonesians and Singaporeans that own properties in the country.
The only way for Thai hotels is to dump prices to attract it to local travelers and a friend of mine who runs a hotel that cost normally 2600 Baht a night you can buy that room now at 750 Baht per night

I understand the concept of cronyism, and get that Thailand is NOT a meritocracy. But, anyone could do better than these guys.
Anutin from the BJT holds the key to the government. If Prayut drops Anutin we have a new election and thst the last Prayuth wants.

“I have spoken with the ambassadors of Singapore, New Zealand, China and South Korea. We have to see which nationalities Thais are happy to welcome, as well as consider the state of the economy and people’s livelihoods,” the minister said.
Ambassadors have nothing to do with a Travel Bubble and South Korea & Singapore, NZ, Australia might think of joining together but so far Thailand is no part of it.
Looks to me Thailand is left alone and not part of any travel corridor. China is seeing another wave in Beijing so the only corridor with Thailand would be neighboring countries for a start.

The German restaurant Zur Pfalz still does well and from the bars I only drop by at the Fun Bar as the owner always is a nice chap with his Mrs.
Soisampan is not much special and it will be interesting to see how many will reopening in Udon. Two farang bars near the Park have shut down and the bars was not sold but just just shutdown.

Greece is allowing tourists from 29 countries, including China but not from USA or UK though UK is their largest tourists number of arrivals/day before Covid-19. Even the UK PM has his private villa in Greece. Here are the 29 countries Albania, Australia, Austria, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Estonia, Japan, Israel, China, Croatia, Cyprus, Latvia, Lebanon, New Zealand, Lithuania, Malta, Montenegro, Norway, South Korea, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia,
China is for business travelers only.

I can assure everyone that Thailand is not on the list with a Travel Bubble between South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand but possible Vietnam will be added and so could be Taiwan and Hong Kong.
China and Thailand is a possibility but with the latest outbreak in Beijing at another wet market I doubt that any country would want to jump on a travel bubble deal with the communists in China. Their is a green lane between Singapore and China, however only for business travel.
I guess Thailand will have a travel bubble with India, Russia and China by the end of the year. ????

China stays close until October and as far as I heard only business travelers might fly out of China.
The only visitors they will get this year are Lao, Malaysian, Cambodian and Burmese, if they want to come and a few farangs that are overseas and can't get back to their families.
The European Union will allow EU travel from the 15th of June again but travel warnings will stay for the other 160 countries which also means European cant travel to Thailand any way, even if Thailand opens the borders again. In Germany and France a poll was conducted several days ago and only 1% of travelers want to travel out of the EU.
Turkey and Egypt will be hard hit too as it looks like they have to focus on Russian inbound tourists only this summer season.

Unfortunately for China-hating farangs like you, Thailand is highly dependent on tourism. Thailand would definitely seek to be the first destination to be allowed for the Chinese to visit in the coming months. China would definitely try to help Thailand. I wouldn't be surprised if those countries that badmouthed China, such as Australia and the US would be the countries on long term bans. That's probably something you would be happy about.
Don't worry about the Western countries. Germany too has asked for an independent investigation and that very much means the European Union will come up on the side of the West. Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia want to become the export hub for those Western countries that are pulling out of the PRC. Keep an eye on Foxcomm what they will do in the next 60 - 90 days. This is not about the Western World but about the free world and that would include also Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, the EU, US, Canada, New Zealand and the Thai's are not stupid as Thailand only exports 29 billion of goods to China which is just 11% of total trade and Thailand imported 53 billion USD from China.I don't think anyone in the world would want to fly to China for a holiday and from friends in Singapore, the Chinese will do this year domestic travel.
The reason why Anutin puts Chinese on the list is to allow the Thai hospitality industry to recover and as for South Korea, Korean Air announced yesterday but the airline announced only : Washington, D.C., Seattle, Vancouver, Toronto, Frankfurt, Singapore, Beijing and Kuala Lumpur. Why Thailand is not on the list might have something to do when Thailand and Japan announced to ban South Koreans over night, so no Bangkok and Tokyo on the list currently and the Koreans will pay that back to Thailand so the Koreans will be in a very small number but a large number will go to Vietnam. Soon 1 Dollar tours will be allowed again and then the Chinese will also come again but my guess next year, this year its a lot about domestic travel and from friends that run several travel publications all airlines cancelled advertising for this year and they have been advertising for 25 years already and even THAI Airways cancelled until 4th quarter.

Politicians all over the world have waved their magic wands and said this lockdown is over.
Despite rising death rates in some locations. ????
and ?
Its not about the death rates. Thailand doesn't have a high death rates. The points is the world has other problems and doesn't care about Thailand. This article is about Thailand and not the some death rate.
The OP was about Chiang Mai that Chinese want to come again to Thailand. They will not come or maybe on 1 Dollar tours.

TAT hopes by the end of the year the High season will be back. In July no one comes as it is low season and millions of Chinese have lost their jobs. Heilongjiang Province has one city Mudanjiang under a full lock down and Harbin is the next, possible as soon as tomorrow. Chinese people are not that stupid and for this year they are just happy to have local tourism inside China.
Vietnam and the Philippines seems to handled the pandemic the best in ASEAN and Singapore did had a lot of bad luck with the migrant workers but on the end to get hit badly but Singapore is a global city which will always attracts a lot of business for both pleasure and business but they have been very transparent and still report each case number.
Vietnam shut down the Wuhan virus by closing the borders as soon Taiwan did in January.
The big winners will be Vietnam in terms of manufacturing and inbound tourism.
As for China, the mess is just starting as their will be a global anti Chinese (CCP) movement. China had over 50 million tourists (140 million trips) in 2018 and 2019 have not been published yet. With massive layoffs in the inbound industry, the Chinese don't have the money to come to Thailand as they have other problems.
Thailand has counted on the Chinese and they are gone. The Indian's and Russians face massive problems on their own so Thailand can say good bye for 2020.
Vietnam will be a big winner of this crisis and both China and Thailand will be hit back to the 90's.
Vietnam also will be a strategic partner in the next few years for the Western countries and as Thailand is to close in the bed with the Chinese and Thailand's time has passed. A lot of hotels are on the market in Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Samui to be converted into condo's (a reason to fire the staffs) so if Thailand and China is lucky they can look back to the tourism numbers of the 90's to start again.
The Thai people that lost their jobs and have no income will look for a leader to bring them out of the mess but it certainly will not be Prayuth and his team. Thailand will be very politically unstable in the next 2 years to come but I guess the same will be in China as the communist and good friends of Thailand in Beijing will be even in a bigger mess.
Thailand has been treating foreigners very badly in the beginning of the pandemic thanks to that Health Minister of Thailand and with a new democratic government they might have a chance to get a slice of the cake in 2022 but Vietnam will be the next tiger in ASEAN and as well Malaysia, Singapore, possible Indonesia and the Philippines. Thailand really is irrelevant in the current time and no one gives a damn except the foreigners such as me that have a kid and family here.
My Prediction for the remaining year and 2021.
1) American's will look for Mexico (beaches) and Canada and the Canadians will do the same so the market is gone.
2) Russia if they still can afford it will visit Turkey, Egypt and possible Croatia etc but nothing in Asia.
3) East Asia (excluding China) the destination of choice will be Vietnam.
4) Australia and New Zealand will visit each other country and I doubt the Australians even think about a holiday in Bali as Queensland has great and CLEAN beaches.
5) Europe they will travel within the EU once the situation allows it.
The Arabs will be completely staying away from Southeast Asia and I doubt they even want to come for medical tourism.
Thailand is irrelevant but so will be Malaysia, Cambodia, Myanmar.
I doubt Prayuth and his group will be in power in a year time and Thailand has to reinvent itself again but it might be to late.

In Scotland the infection rate is between 4-6% as I have seen on Sky News. Bangkok is a big city

This is rubbish from the ICU guy in the Bangkok Hospital.
Mortality is linked to the general conditions of the country towards the Corona visrus.
You can't compare a hospital in some Thai provinces to a hospital in Lombardy Italy. The Lombardy region has some of the best health care system in the world and they have a mortality rate of 8.9%.
The Italy strain is the same as the Wuhan Covid-19 strain but countries with a strong health care system can handle it.
Community transmission has been going on since 26th last month at least and it was part of the 2nd wave of Covid transmission with flights open by Japan, Thailand and South Korea.
The main wave is from Thailand, Korea and Japan and a large number of Thai's returned and they are unaccounted for specially from Europe and East Asia.
The few farangs that come in from Europe now to Thailand is very slim and even two weeks ago the number was small compared to the community spreading that has been gone for the past 3 weeks THROUGHOUT Thailand.
I am worried about Thailand as they are not prepared. BigC is getting closed down and so is Robinson. This only leaves Tesco Lotus to feed the population and 7/11 as markets surely will be shutdown.
The next 2 weeks will be Chaos in Thailand

Just now, 248900_1469958220 said:I dont get it. Thailand was the first country in the world to have a case outside China. 'On January 13, the WHO reported a case in Thailand, the first outside of China, in a woman who had arrived from Wuhan'......so you are telling me there has been a spike starting now? Its obviously been out there months and months. Is the warmer weather slowing its spread? New research seems to point to this.
This is the second Covid-19 wave to Thailand. The first wave was from Wuhan and the 2nd wave was internally inflected by Thailand, Japan and South Korea. South Korea stopped after a few days but the countries of Thailand and Japan keep flying. The first wave came from Wuhan directly and I enclose a screenshot which should shows all flights out of Wuhan.
The second screenshot shows the flights from Bangkok into China but also into all the other Asian countries. Thailand had most flights into China then South Korea and Japan.
We also run five Linux servers 24 hours a day to compute all possible scenarios and have we finished for Italy and China. The China numbers are completely under reported:
2020-01-26 70 Days 74,857 new
Infections 7 Days128,659 Total
after 70 days6,559 deaths
/week12,241
26 Jan 202058,487,760
Hubei Prov.On 26 January we had a total infection in Wuhan of 128,659 with 12,241 death of which 6,559 death occurred between 18 - January - 26 January 2020. The final death toll would be 12,241 as of 26 Jan 2020.
2020-03-22 56 26,603 55,303 2,504 5,625 61,311,935 2020-03-30 64 44,693 95,727 4,269 9,894 61,307,666 2020-04-07 72 73,297 161,916 7,108 17,002 61,300,558 This above is our modelling for the population of Italy. We took a very high number of infections dating back a week before Chinese New Year and are very accurate. The curve from Italy will come in a week time between 27 to 29 as they have been on a lockdown for the past 2 weeks. Italy has a got chance to get away with 13,000 to 20,000 deaths and by end of April no new infections are recorded.
Thailand is just starting but the numbers from Thailand and China are the same. Kanchanaburi had certainly a death and so did Kalasin and Samui. Their is no transparent reporting and all cases are recorded for Bangkok only. My guess they will protect Bangkok but the other provinces will be on their own.

Thailand's AIS says Huawei among five companies tendering to build 5G core networks
in Thailand News
Posted
He is Singaporean and trust me Singtel (Government owned GLC) in Singapore dumped Huawei and on the end the deal goes to Samsung and Ericsson. As for the handsets of Singtel Huawei can get them. Its all about geo politics and Singapore government has always been on the side of the winners and China can't win it.
Singtel also has shares in many other mobile operators including Airtel in India, Telkomsel in Indonesia and they both move towards the West. As for Thailand's CP Group that owns True Mobile will use Huawei for sure as otherwise their business in China will be dead. DTAC which is owned in part by Telenor will use Ericson and Nokia. Thailand has been long time close to the West but you can say they are part of the Chinese group since Prayuth came to power.
The next two years will be interesting but countries like Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Laos are already in the bed with China and Thailand got to be very careful on their next move.
