  1. 2. Proofs of Residence and financial income are required next time.

why would he have proof of residency if he s a tourist? or just a hotel booking

How do u supply income requirements? a home country atm card?

An income letter could come from the Danish Embassy in Bangkok, a letter from his bank or a bank statement. I would also suggest keeping all the receipts from his ATM withdrawals.

  2. Thai Buddhists don't really give a damn about animals. Thailand has its own flavor of Buddhism which has really nothing to do with Buddhism at all. I do like to forest monks which takes things more seriously and money is not as important as the local wats in the villages. Those monks in the forest respect animals but for the average Thai animals are either a problem or delicious to most Thais.

  3. I could not agree more. Under the previous regime changes were DAILY making business here troublesome and full of payouts for corrupt officials. now this is common in Asia but getting to such a high number in the percentage stakes was too much.

Now things are moving again and there are always TWEAKS that need to be made.

I am all for seeing what hs been proposed and I congratulate the general on his birthday!

But my wishes pale to those before me as I am but a speck in the ocean on this earth.

So all of you who come after demonising this General for trying to get things done, remember you too are nothing in the scheme of things.

This Japanese businessman is significant and this meeting symbolises that THAILAND MEANS business. i am all for it as this is a wonderful country with wonderful people despite the few negatives - it is still a great place or we would not be here.

LOL - You should go line up to be the next for photo opportunity. I guess in one year you will be very quiet as nothing really got done. It's just photo opportunities.

  4. Guys the army took over. As Suthep said already a few months back he advised the GENERAL of getting rid of the Yingluck regime and this from the day she took power or even longer.

And all for the rubbish posters that said the army tried to protect themselves for Gods or Buddha's sake she was a nurse and got gunned down at a local temple.

The army has always killed and executed people and this goes back to the 60's and 70's where they called the same poor people anti monarchists, communists or whatever but when the army has to secure 50sqm2 in the South where all the bombings happened they are unable to fight the insurgency.

When is Prayuth given back happiness to the Thai people in the Deep South.

  5. Agoda and Booking.com is the way to go. Important would be to know what kind of category you offer. 3/4/5 stars or a boutique property.

I do see a small problem as you only have 8 units and you need to make some kind of allotments to them or make sure you update the inventory on a daily basis.

Hopefully your property is not based in Phuket or Samui as it would be very difficult to make it to page 1 or 2 of their search results.

I know hotels in Thailand that pay 30% to make it on Page 1 but I can tell you they easily fill up 30-40 rooms last year.

Since the South has peak tourism starting in a few months time, make sure you start approaching them ASAP.

  6. they are not mocked for what they do, they are mocked for what they dont do. obey the law. they come to a country to practice their business that does not want them to do so and then whine when they are told that they are doing something illegal.

I can't think of any instances where people have moaned about being told they're doing something illegal. Seem to me they KNOW what they're doing is illegal.

They moan because people are telling them that they should somehow be ASHAMED that what they're doing is illegal.

    Big difference

I don't agree that many are saying to be ashamed of working illegally.

The OP was about the Thai elite Visa and work. It was plainly stated that one couldn't work legally on it without a work permit.

It was also stated that the only legal option was to start a business, employ Thais and get work permit. The other option is Thai elite visa and work Illegally under the radar.

The on-liners soundly rejected both, their only options as I see the back to back tourist visas and living here ending soon.

The on-liners then started moaning about why they should be allowed to work here and get permits. Maybe the rules will change and it happen. But right now, for someone not 50, doesn't want an ED visa, not married, there are two options, one legal, one not.

All the digital nomads need to do is setup a company in Singapore, clear all funds in Singapore and work from home in Thailand.

I am in the same situation. I work from home, have a couple of clients in Bangkok including the Thai government, good references including letters that they even request meetings and training for me at the office in Bangkok on a None O.

80% of my revenues comes from outside Thailand and inside Thailand I make around 2.4 million Baht per year minus 5% withholding taxes. The 20% of funds I send back to Thailand on a monthly basis including 40k in my son account so he can have a good education.

I do not open a company in Thailand. The only companies I opened was in the 90's but I sold the shares all to either foreign companies or to the Thai Chinese in Bangkok and in 1997 I had to take a big hair cut.

For god sake anyone on a Thailand Elite Card card can work from home as a digital nomad. The TEC gives a 5 year visa and every stamp is one year per entry. Thais perfectly understand that 1 year visa holders need to make some money to enjoy Thailand as we don't have the pleasure of retiring on some kind of pensions and to make sure we are loaded once we retire.

  7. I too filed TM 28 last week Monday at the local police station in the province of Sakon Nakhon and it took them 3 days to file as the supervisor (Chief of station) wasn't around but after three 3 days he called me on my mobile and said all set and the big guy signed it off. They actually laughed at me that I insisted on it because he told me he knows my address as they have track on every farang. When I asked him how he know he told me Phoo Yai Ban's report foreigners to the nearest police station and he even showed me a photocopy of my passport that expired.

He also asked why I have a 1 year visa Business visa for Cambodia, Myanmar and China so I joked to him that if Thailand doesn't want me one day I have other options. After that of course I told him I am just joking and make my money in those countries and I am semi retired in Thailand.

When I called Immigration in Sakon Nakhon they too told me no need to come over to file TM28.

I still hqve that damn problem with the Amphur who don't want to issue the Yellow Book because he keeps telling me I have to married my lady first but I will do it in Bangkok to save the hassle with that guy. 3 years and still the same story. :)

  8. For the child to have Thai nationality you will have to register you marriage in Thailand. If you don't do that you and your child will encounter serious issues in dealing with any legal aspect in country, because your baby will be considered a foreign person, even with a Thai father name is on the birth certificate.

For more information just search "register marriage" in this forum.

This is not correct as far as I know

  9. I am a huge supporter of the coup and all the good that it has done/is doing for Thailand. When they say they want to encourage tourism, and then they come up with stupid ass decisions to discourage tourism it makes me really angry. It's like they don't understand what brings people to Thailand.

It feels like the leadership of the country doesn't communicate with all of the other parts of the government. For instance, tour guides reported Russian tour agents to the government and this was dismissed because it was decided that these Russian tour guides provide a good service for tourists. The next day they are talking about inspecting all tour agencies to make sure they are in compliance with all laws. It just makes me shake my head. The same goes for immigration crackdowns and then loosening because it was a bad decision. Please can we just understand that this crackdown is a bad decision before they implement it? Please. Please Please.

With the greatest of respect, you supported authoritarian rule, now you have it. A bit late to start complaining now.

I really don't expect you to understand this, but I love Thailand. I supported the coup not because I like the general, or the army or Suthep by any means. I supported the coup because for the first time in my tenure here, someone was in power that wasn't in it for themself. They wanted to do something positive and lasting for the country in the long term.

Positive and longterm should include thoughts of the future and how Thailand can progress to even better places than it is currently. These laws will turn off tourists from coming here. That directly affects my business - yes, but more importantly to me, it affects Thailand progressing.

I want the best for Thailand, and if anyone thinks that souring tourists from coming here is going to help this country, then in my opinion they are wrong.

Right now is when foreigners are planning their vacations for next high season in Thailand. This type of crackdown will discourage tourists from coming here. That will hurt Thailand. It will not just hurt farangs living here or Thais living here, but all of Thailand.

I know that I am not alone when I say that Thailand is where I planned to live out my life. I know that I am not the only business owner looking at Thailand's policies and wondering how long I can afford to live here.

You can criticize me all you want. I am just sharing my feelings from the perspective of someone who loves Thailand and doesn't want to see it decline for reasons that could have been avoided.

Even a Thai person I spoke to tonight when I explained everything in this press release, said that Thailand is going back to the jungle.

I am just hoping that clearer minds precede and they take a different stance on this subject. Like immigration, it all should be done, but should be done in baby steps. Trying to go from 100mph to 0mph in one second will make you skid out. Take stances but don't go from one extreme to the other.

I work for a company as a consultant that brings around 200-250k of tourists per year on package tours to Thailand, but we will not loose much business as they are on a package tour and if they drink they will normally have a beer or a glass of wine in the resort or hotel they will be staying. Families that visit Thailand will also not feel the clampdown.

Those tourists will not be that much hurt with the current clampdown that seems to start in Chiang Mai and might soon hit Bangkok and Pattaya.

The only people that will feel the clampdown are the Single travellers and of course the Thais.

Since you supported the Coup this is what you get.

I posted in May already that this coup is different and it is just a matter of time before they start with visa crackdowns and as well start closing the prostitution places. Trust me their will be no election next year and Nana, Cowboy, Walking Street will be gone in a few years time.

Yes, I love Thailand too and my lady and son are Thais. I lived under Gen. Prem, Gen Chatchai, Gen. Suchinda, Anan, Gen. Chavalit, Chuan Lekpai, Thaksin S., Gen. Sonthi, Gen. Surayud, Abhisit, Yingluck S. and now Gen. Prauyth. It's all same same wai2.gif

  10. This will only hurt thai businesses , the drunk people will end up drunk anyway .

Imagine Pattaya Walking street , with these kind of rules implemented. There will be no more customers.

Not only. It will hurt all those farang gogo bars.

As I said before. For all those people that hailed Suthep and Prayuth in the past get used to it.

For me in Isaan nothing changes. I still get my shots of a couple of beers a day and don't really care what Bangkok says.

    cheesy.gif

About Walking Street? This is the Thai government with the army installed and they give a damn what customers on Walking Street things. clap2.gif

  11. Being isolated in those villages living among people who have absolutely nothing in common with yourself is a very strange choice of life for a Westerner. The complete inability to have any intellectual conversation must be torture after a while. Most of the guys i,ve met on my rare excursions tend to be pretty miserable souls but of course they won't admit it. Many lured by young wives and conned into building a house for the whole family to treat as their own ( well it's not yours anyhow ). Some live with the inlaws but all are doing something they'd never even consider back home so why now. There mere sight of a new farang in the village lights up their eyes with excitement but it's only for a few days until they're gone and it's back to the normal drudgery of life. Personally i think you must be a little crazy or just complete mugs. Yes , i know you're all going to tell me how different it is for you and how wrong i am but i still don't believe you.

Being isolated in those villages living among people who have absolutely nothing in common with yourself is a very strange choice of life for a Westerner.

Absolutely not. First of all my partner has many things in common with me otherwise I wouldn't stay with her in her village. She is also my best friend.

I have worked and lived in Bangkok over 20 years so it was either leaving Thailand or move to the village as I got tired of Bangkok. I am still once a month in Bangkok for 3-4 days and since I have many friends in Bangkok (Managers of Hotels and Tour companies) I don't really miss anyone when I am in Isaan.

The complete inability to have any intellectual conversation must be torture after a while.

Not at all. Do you think that their are only farmers in Isaan? I met some great peoples which are Thai and I keep regular contact with them.

Many lured by young wives and conned into building a house for the whole family to treat as their own ( well it's not yours anyhow ).

Nobody lured me into Isaan and I prefer my young wife compared to my ex-wife that I had before that was older then me. Not sure where you get the idea from that every family moved into a farang house. My in-laws have their own house just 30 meters away but we socialise on a daily basis with them and they are really hard-working people.

There mere sight of a new farang in the village lights up their eyes with excitement but it's only for a few days until they're gone and it's back to the normal drudgery of life.

Seeing farangs all the time that come from Pattaya or Nana/Cowboy with their new found love to our village but this is just a business transaction and they will normally return after a few days. I do have some long term friends that stay 3-4 months in Isaan before they return with their wife to the West but once they leave I don't really miss them as we are in contact via Skype or Email at least once a month.

You must have gotten some bad experience in the past and that's why I don't want to comment on your last lines. If you do make it to Isaan, hopefully I will not have to meet you as I ignore people with your kind of attitude.

  12. This is just my 2 cents: giggle.gif

    1) Either take Airbus or Boeing but not both. Having both suppliers looks to me that someone is getting kickbacks for signing those deals.

    2) Get the Military out of THAI. Most pilots are coming from the chaps in the green uniforms. This has been going on the 90's and it is still hasn't changed.

    3) Fire half of the staffs. When I tried to book a ticket last week from Bangkok to Udon on Business Class half of the staffs sitting down at Swampy and played with their mobile devices.

    4) Once I am at the lounge as I flown business class half of the staffs at the lounge at the Domestic terminal at Swampy did nothing except chatting and joking to each other.

    5) Most of the pilots come from the Air Force and their are just to many pilots on the payroll.

Prices from Germany to Udon Thani are not bad and around 1050 Euros which is competitive, however they fly from Munich and Frankfurt only plus I had problems making a booking.

  13. The war on drugs has failed in every country... Thailand will be no exception lol.

Only way to control them is to legalise them. I know that wouldn't happen anywhere in SEA though

Stupid mentality to legalise drugs.......in case you havn't noticed...yaba, ya-ice etc send people nuts!

We see the evidence of drug users so often in the Thai media......

Not only in the Media but I am seeing those nuts in my village.

Set the death sentence of Yaba to 30 gram maximum and send them to the gallows or live sentence.

Sorry if this sounds harsh but Yaba is out of control in Thailand and it needs a firm hand.

Also arrest those police officers on Khaosan Road as all those Reggae bars sell Ganya, Yaba and even Kokain.

Start with the lower Sukumvit area and arrest all those guys from Africa that are dealing in drugs.
