  1. Unlike most of the posters here I seem to be able to keep mosquitoes out of my house. I can't keep those f'n geckos out though.

They shit all over my curtains, bedding, cars, everything. You call that a favour?

The OP asked for any known ways of getting rid of them whatever that me be.

As usual on TV he was denigrated for asking a simple question and the semi literates who inhabit this forum attack him personally.

I am afraid that I must disagree with you strongly.

Very literate people can be just as asinine!!!

    ;)

  2. No he did not say gun he said

    "38 Magnum"

Actually the question was one that he has the answer for.

How does he expect us to know if he can hit a gecko with a gun. For all I know he can not hit the broad side of a barn with one a gun.

Good point about my crappy aim.

So I can surmise that I really shouldn't use one of the most powerful handguns in the world to kill a 1 gram animal?

    (Actually, I agree)

  3. I occasionally get a run of these, but seldom more than one at a time. Then it's a fun challenge to catch, photograph and evict.

    ...

They are also attracted to exterior lights at night, so don't leave the balcony or bathroom light on unnecessarily etc.

I wouldn't mind if I could keep them out on the balcony. They just seem to migrate to the kitchen (which I do keep clean).

  4. MOVE  if they bother you so much, as mentioned above they are doing you a favor and I have loads in my house and they are Welcome guests that saves me having to use toxic Mosquito spray

Indiscriminately killing something for no good reason is WELL just not Jai dee :D

    DK

So if you had a problem with mice eating into your rice bags and bread and other dry goods, you would move?

I had mice. I killed them. Didn't want to. Didn't want to die for eating poisonous shit. Didn't consider it indiscriminate killing either.

I don't consider it indiscriminate killing when I swat a mosquito neither.

    But thanks.

  5. A gun would be over kill surely, maybe an air rifle, then you have to clean the dead gekko with the crap as well. Maybe there are some young boys in your building that you can pay to remove them.

Actually, an air rifle might be worse than a gun. More likely to ricochet than a real gun, which would just put a big hole in the wall...

Fast handed young boys eh? I might ask downstairs - thanks.

  6. I love looking at gecko crap and taking great pleasure from knowing it used to be a mosquito :D

If you have them around it means they have enough mosquitoes to live on - leave them alone, they are doing you a favour!

Thanks - but I have very few mosquitoes this high up. I don't know what they eat here - but I don't think it is mossies...

If I thought they were doing me a favour, I would leave them alone!

  7. you could hire a car if you want to travel and explore a bit.

As the poster did say "Quickest Border Run", the car is a good idea.

Or a motorcycle can do it easily in 3 hours - mostly good roads, and nice mountain vistas.

I used to do it on my Honda Wave in well under 3 1/2 hours each way. A real bike could easily shave half an hour off...

  8. I am on a high floor of an older condo building.

Every year about this time I see tiny little gekkos (tookays?) grow up into bigger ones, and thus every year I find turds that progressively go from tiny to annoyingly large.

These are not the lovely huge full-on multi-coloured gekkos, but just those plain little things - maybe grow to a couple of inches. I classify them at the same 'safety and annoyance level' as mice...

Is there some great technique to either get rid and/or to keep them from coming back

I would get a cat, but not allowed

I have thought that mouse sticky paper might work. Bait?

And I am considering shooting some harmful chemical at them from a spray bottle (bleach?).

I don't like killing, but I hate lizard shit in my food...

(I kill mice and mosquitoes too).

    Anyone? Anything? Thanks.

Lasers? Poison gas? Ultrasonics? Some Thai person with fast hands?!? 38 Magnum???

  9. Well pretty much the usual suspects... new tyres for grip and a decent exhaust and ecu reset and your good to go. But i'm still trying to find a decent looking exhaust that's not to noisy.

Most Thai's are just spending money on shiny stuff.

    Thanks.

Anyone try a larger rear socket? Or smaller front? You know - lower top end, better acceleration...

My bike does 156. I'd be more than happy with 145. About 7% more teeth for the rear sprocket I think?

Need a new then chain too. Can you keep the same chain with a smaller front?

  10. Hi!

I've been out of circulation for a while, but now I am back in Thailand.

Rather than sift through more than 100 pages on this thread, I was hoping someone could give a roundup of modifications that people have found successful for the 250.

Tires, exhaust, FI mods, suspension, motor mods, whatever. What are the best mods???

Anyone care to summarize for us? Hope so...

    Thanks, Mark
