Sorry just to jump on this. I received tax credits, I was told at the time my Wifes name would be on it, yet it was paid solely to me because she is not a British Citizen. On my ILR form I put that the payments were made to me NOT my Wife being in receipt of them.
Is that ok or will it be a problem?
Thanks for any replies.

Hiya Allm,
my Son will be returning to Thailand soon. He has a British passport but not his Thai one. His passport will be stamped on the way into Thailand, however I wish to apply for his Thai passport while in Thailand.
Will he be OK to overstay as long as his Thai passport comes in time. Does his thai Birth Certificate exempt him for overstay fees etc?
Please Advise. Thanks CC

Hi Moss,
I was being a lil lazy, but lazy is no good. I filled out it all again, one must stay on the safe side you are right!
Thanks Mossy.
So is it ok to use tippex!Does it say explicitly in the guidance notes not to cross out, blot out, or otherwise alter an existing doc, if it doesn't then by omission it would suggest that it would be OK, however in an instance like this, where so much lies on the outcome, I would err on the side of caution.
If you have already filled it out, how long is it going to take just to copy out on to a new form?

Hiya All,
due to the change in financial year a couple of points on my ALREADY filled in form have changed. Just a tick here and there. Rather than print out page for page will it be ok to tippex out 2 lil mistakes. Some organisations like banks etc just dont like the tippex.
I know it may seem silly but the mistake is so minor and I have a flight to catch and cannot do it later!
Thanks All

Hi BKK,
so how long does you Wife wait before her return to keep the visa valid?
Thanks
Hi BKK,so if my Wife returned every say 10 months this may keep its validity. Would it be helpful to say she is only in Thailand because her spouse (myself) is working at present in that region. You never know when a back pedal to blighty may come!
Thanks for your reply
It's worked well for my wife, and means she can fly to/from the UK whenever she wants.
We are looking to return to the UK soon full-time though (which will finally let us do the UK passport application.)

Visa roulette?
If Immigration feel you are playing the system, he may refuse entry then again as the above post states they might not.Moss

ILR remains valid until you spend 2 full years out of the country. However, the Entry Officer has to believe you're a returning resident on each trip, and not simply going to the UK for a holiday.
Admittedly I know someone working in Tokyo who flies back for a day each time just before his two years is up, and has no issues keeping his ILR. (He's not Japanese though, just working there for the Japanese branch of a UK company, so maybe that helps prove he's not permanently relocated to Japan.

Hi all,
my Wifes ILR application is due in next month. I am however returning to Singas for work. In short my Wife and Son will follow me after the aplication.
To cut along story short, if my Wife stays in Thailand for a lng period and I am working out there is it worth doing the visa and how long will it be valid for before it just becomes worthless?

Maybe they are closing down to process a few "Toms" on an individual basis?

Hi Durham,
Moving to the U.K is always traumatic for any Non British Persons. My Wife had alot of sadness at first, especially over missing Som Tam, however we got the ingredients in Chinatown and it all soon picked up tobe be UK the LOS.
It what you make of it, try talking and I do sympathise that sometimes its rough, but it does get better....
Goodluck.

Hi all,
I have got all my ILR together but have just left my job as I will earn more money day rating for work. Will this affect my Wifes ILR application.
Also I may have work in Asia to follow onto, what periods will my Wife be allowed to stay in Thailand without affecting ILR.
Regards

Hi Scouse,
thanks for your reply. I have added my driving license and will try and root out an old passport.
Thanks Again.

Hi Scouser,
I ahve enclosed a Birth Cert and my driving license will that be enough as I cannot get a certified copy of my passport as I am in Spain.

Does anyone know what is classed as a formal document, section 10a ILR form.
Note. If your partner is a British Citizen without a passport, you must provide his/her full birth certificate (showing parents' names), accompanied by at least one other formal document as evidence of ordinary residence in the UK for the last 3 years.
I have my full birth certificate but am unsure what is the formal document? I am an offshore worker so my passport cannot be used.
Please can anyone advise.

Hi Scotty,
my Wife passed the Life in UK Test second time round, however I think if you the time get your Wife on The ESOL course that includes Citizensip. Just incase she finds it hard to get through the test you wl always have the ESOL as backup.
Goodluck Both of you.
Hi all,Looking for abit of advise from you guys whos wifes have passed the life in uk test or succesfully completed/passed the ESOL course.
The reason im asking is, we have the test book what is required for my mrs to study, but I can get my wife onto a ESOL course starting in september.
What would you guys recomend? ESOL or the life in uk test?
Also, is it true with the ESOL course, you just need to attend, and then you will meet the requirements the home office require.
Many thanks
Scotty & Kannika

Hi All,
I cannot put my passport in with my Wifes application as I use if for work. I have added my Birth Certificate, it states I need to back this up with a formal document. Is my driving license proof of my being in the UK 3 years good enough as a formal document?
Thanks All

She would look good with Richard Ashcroft imo. Druggy cool look? Prefer tits and ass myself.

Hi,
I disagree, I think if he gets his Thai passport while in Thailand as he holds a Thai Birth Cert as well as British he should h=get one ok. He can use his Thai passport in and out of Thailand and his British one in and out of the U.K.
I need advice on the stamp that will be put in his passport on arrival, as he will use his Thai one on exit....also how long does it take to get a Thai passport in Khon Kaen and what docs are needed?
Thanks for reply though it was a good suggestion.
