I watched the clip a Thai friend put on Facebook a couple of days ago.Without a link to the clip showing him adding tap water it's a non-story.

Also, there's no point comparing BKK taxis to Pattaya ones, it's obvious that in BKK taxis can pick up return fares far easier than the ones in Pattaya can.I don't know how you get scammed by GrabTaxi.
I use them frequently (last time was Saturday evening from Mapbrachan to Central Pattaya), always book the taxi via the app on my phone, price is shown prior to hitting the, "book" button.
On the whole the taxis arrive punctually around the time you book them for.
On arriving at your destination pay them the fare as shown on your booking, easy!
I've only ever had one driver try to ask for more than the agreed fare (it was 100 Baht over), I showed him the booking confirmation, end of.
You even receive a payment receipt by e-mail within 5 minutes of arriving at your destination.
I'm certain there isn't a simpler way of getting from A to B without hassle.
Edit; BTW the fare from Mapbrachan to Central was 395 Baht (and you can have up to 4 passengers in the car for that).

I think it was hand held...I'm guessing that this machine must have been motorized. No kind of safety switch?

From, "Hello Kitty" to, "Care Bears"!!!!
Can these clowns not stop embarrassing themselves to the rest of the world?

Got exactly what she deserved!

I'm told it's called, "Jar Toi".Name is something like 'ja toy'.
Off soi 8 Threpasit, past the big Pommy farang bar on the left, on a corner selling chicken and kawneo.
Go down that soi to the left about 2 km and on the right is a wooden place with indian heads old jeep etc. Like a collectors place.
Beer needs ice. Order dishes by chilly percent. For kn Isaan about 80 to 100%, for farang, hot stuff is about 10%.
Been there for years and always get good food.
Dont worry about the boy girls serving as they've been there for years as well.
And it's the best place around for Issan style food (very spicy)!
As mentioned above the small Soi on the left is on a right hand bend a few hundred yards after the P&J pub.
Excellent food, and it's a bit like going back in time with the decor.
Word of advise, use mozzy repellent.

How about great location, plenty of eye candy, no getting hassled for lady drinks, decent music being played at a level that allows you to be able to hold a conversation with someone, and with the loyalty card and happy hour prices on certain drinks, it can actually be a cheaper afternoon than most other air conditioned places around town. Why anyone would go into hooters is beyond me?
-
I was sat next to this guy at the bar in Hooter's Saturday afternoon, he kept wandering off and leaving his phone unattended. Hardly surprising to hear he's had it stolen.

It's always worth reading the report before commenting! The photo also shows 2 motor bikes lying on the road.? Maybe they belong to interested observers who do not have bike stands.
"A car and a pick up truck collided into each other in Pattaya Klang."

I really don't know how to put this Giddyup, but there is absolutely no reason to build or bypass anything on SSCC via a tunnel.
My bad, you get so many smart arse replies on this forum, I thought yours was just another. The hole is massive, easily 10 metres deep, but I guess for drainage purposes, maybe it has to be.
Is that supposed to be helpful, or funny?Part of the government incentive in preparing for the rainy season?
Up to you.
But I reckon it's part of the extensive new drainage system that has been going on all over the darkside from Nong Ket up near Highway 36, to Toongklom Talman. However, when you look at current google earth imagery (dated February 2016) it's hard to see where anything is draining to/from but possibly it was a major creek bed before the urban sprawl backfilled everything?
And if anyone was going to build a tunnel for traffic (of any sort), you certainly wouldn't start by just digging a deep hole.
I have passed the roadworks you mention, and although I'm not sure exactly why they're digging such a deep hole I'd hazard a guess it's related to drainage / water movement.

Scenario #1 happens regularly at many of the central Pattaya mini-marts (the big two chains).
Another scenario is when you're paying for items, and order cigarettes lastly, they are rang into the till but not put into your bag.
The other scenario I've come across quite a few times is that additional items that weren't purchased are included to your bill.
The worst culprits I've come across are Tom Boys working in and around Soi AR.

It's at the small Nongprue turn off, which is the one before the railway road.Where is this new Toll Plaza anyways ?... I cannot find KM 122 on google maps....
Is it down near the Laem Chabang exit ?
One correction to the OP, there are a few warning signs prior to the roadworks, I drove through there yesterday and saw them.
Edit: Apolgies, re-read the original post, which is correct, there are warning signs.

Pattaya's finest won't take any Islamic State nonsense!

I've always used the photo shop on 2nd Rd opposite Soi 7, can't remember the price as I've been getting them done at work recently.
Bit of advice, get them to scan your visa page as well as the main photo page, this can then be printed on the reverse side of the card.

I can appreciate what you're saying regarding the later busses, it could well be the same scenario first thing in the morning too.The airport busses leave from Thrapaya Rd (between Fraser's sports bar and the junction with Threpasit Rd) every hour.
I used it in November, 122 Baht, comfortable and air conditioned. Traveling time is approximately 1hr 45 mins.
Just to add, remember to book in advance by a couple of days.......dont expect to turn up at the departure time and there be a spare seat for you..........I used the service last week and they had 2 buses on for the 9pm run to the airport, guess that one is the busiest to cater for all those departing Suvarnabhumi in the early hours.
I was on the 10am bus, which wasn't even a third full.
Great way to get into BKK too, just hop on the airport BTS link, no traffic or tolls, cheap and comfortable.

I've found GrabTaxi to be a fantastic service.
Very reliable, safe, and priced competitively.
I have never known them to use a meter (ever), and the price has always been quoted when booking online.
One thing that I have noticed though is in the early days you just made a booking and the taxi would arrive, but more recently there has been a, "tip" option added to the booking app, and from personal experience I find that unless you input a tip amount, the taxis don't really seem interested in picking you up.

Will Pattaya Songkran be cut short?
How long have you been here?
In one word, which I'll repeat in capitals; NO, NO, NO!!!!!
-
I see the news reporting here has drastically improved. In fact, reports of tonight's incidents are already out!!!
Dear God, how can the guy have been stabbed in the early hours of Wednesday when it's now Tuesday afternoon???
Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the rest of the drivel printed.

It's down to the influx of US Dollars in Pattaya! If you go to Sriracha or Sattahip you'll find there aren't so many US Dollars, and the exchange rate reflects this.

Me and few friends used to use a guy called Mr Dean (Beach Rd between Sois 8 & 9).
Never had any problems of any sort with the bikes.

,Quote: I'd also hazard a guess ??? It means you know nothing so put your Ego aside and admit you don't know
Agreed, I'd also hazard a guess that the real reasons for this nonsense were a combination of losing face and losing access to her income (the two main reasons for any ridiculous behavior in this country), possibly with the addition of alcohol, etc thrown into the mix.He did not attempt suicide...he merely wanted attention and help...probably thinking that now his gf will see how much he loves her...

I know that an ATTEMPT at anything involves TRYING to do it! This was NEITHER.
Also, if you were serious about topping yourself, why would you choose to jump off a bridge that isn't high enough to enable success, in probably the busiest part of town?
Attention seeking, simple, or the reasons I have already provided.

If the owner is a foreigner (which I presume) he / she needs to provide a certificate of residence, as you do (from immigration) at the LTO.
