  1. So Woody1, you think immigration police dealing with someone illegally in LOS is out of order in your opinion....?

    No, I don't.

But what I KNOW is a 3 month overstay does not warrant a 5 year blacklisting!

Also, all forms of BiB should be focusing their efforts on serious crime; daily shootings, speed boat accidents, serious drug offenders, and drink drivers (who alone have killed 3 people in the last 3 days)!

  2. There are so many ridiculous assumptions on here that I can't pick one out to start with!

But, to summarize, up to now, the good and the great amongst TVFM's have concluded that the individual must have been carrying out illegal activities (apart from a poultry 3 months overstay, hardly crime of the century), he had sufficient funds (and other information) to obtain a METV from the UK, he looked odd as he may have been sober on Walking St, etc.

When in fact none of you know anything about the guy, or his circumstances, apart from what you've read on a half baked news report!

We know all we need to know...extended overstayer...being deported...fined B20,000...banned for 5 years.

All I need to know! Guilty...Next!

No! What you know, and what you believe is chit chat and rumors on here.

What you actually know about the exact circumstances or outcome of this case are zero!

So he hasn't been arrested and awaiting deportation for being Visaless? Maybe he is being flown home first class to receive a Queens Award to Industry for his services to the Travel and Tourist sector?
Now that is just being silly.
  3. When in fact none of you know anything about the guy, or his circumstances, apart from what you've read on a half baked news report!

Mr Love illegally overstayed by over three months. What's not to know?
Thank you for selectively only quoting part of what I wrote.

Since when, did a 3 month overstay anywhere deserve being blacklisted for 5 years, especially when no other more serious crime had been committed (think about this one before trying to answer)?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer, the guy came to LOS with no visa.....coffee1.gif

And, I've done it dozens of times, so have millions of others.

  7. There is a shop on Soi Lengkee on the left side as you walk up from Soi Buakhao that is now advertising 100 baht a day rentals.

    Hope this helps

I was just about to say 2.5-3K / month seems to be the going rate.

Don't know of any rentals on the dark side, as haven't bothered looking, but in town there are literally hundreds.

The one place I hear regular good reviews about is on the corner of Thrapaya Road and Threpasit junction.

  8. 80k CAN be enough, even for 2 persons.. but in the "right" place, one guy can spend it in one evening..

This is why I love TV.

We have a guy asking if he can make 2 weeks for 2 people on 80k and somebody tells him 1 person can spend that much in 1 evening.

I hope he thanks you for your valued information.

He seems to have put more in than you......
  9. I think some of you people need to learn to use Agoda..

I've not paid over the odds for a hotel in Thailand since 2011 on my first trip.

You can find some fantastic bargains for under a 1000 baht that are not shitholes with "thai style" shower and toilet

I just found this for 441baht a night on agoda..

    562034_16051111460042222424.jpg?s=1100x8

    1163591_16022412150040166853.jpg?s=1100x

    550baht reduced from 2000...

Those photos are of two different bedrooms.

Are you saying you had choice of rooms for that price, or was it a two bedroom suite, or is it.............

By all means give us a clue where one might find this bargain.

  10. Didn't anyone think it slightly odd, that someone would check into a short time hotel alone?

Nothing odd about it. I stay and stayed nearly always in short time "pampam" motels ( alone) .

They are cheap , aircon and most of them seperate parking . ( some have even free porn on tv , sssst !)

    I rest my case!!
  11. To the OP, I dont know where you live, I am just back from Pattaya after 3 nights, its DEAD.

I am well aware of the bars on 2nd Rd, they were empty.

From riches to rags, I was at the Hilton cocktail lounge (34th floor) it was heaving from 5-8, BARGAIN, 2 for 1, worked out about 160 baht per cocktail.

Drink up and head for the cocktail carts parked outside Central, yes they were heaving.

The internet and toursits reviews are killing the place.

To Rags, was sat in Big C food court today, some guy supped 3 big Archa bottles of beer before 1 in the afternoon, no doubt living the dream.

    Pattaya is what it is.

Is that a nightly happy hour. whats the dress code ?
Shorts, flip flops, wife beater stained Chang vest optional.
  12. Whatever she told the police at the police station is probably just fiction. I've been in that situation myself - having to defend myself against endless lies and nonsense. Unless she has some concrete proof he will not be charged.

Her dog got injured and she saw it as a perfect opportunity to make trouble for a foreigner she hates, because he's been yelling at or teasing her dog.

    Well done Mate!!

    Got it all worked out.......

Should have had you down in Khao Tao.........

  13. I think we should get rid of all animals you cannot eat. There is no point to them at all.

They get in the way when you are cutting all the trees and burning the undergrowth for Palm Oil plantations.

Orangs are the worst, they have human qualities that make people think they are nice. No...they are Ginger so should go.

That Barrier Reef is a pain as well they should pour more earth on to it like the Chinese do and make it into a new Country.

The animals in the zoos are pathetic in many ways, the conditions they live in just upsets humans. So get rid of them as well.

We could however keep an interest in them like we have for the animals that went before around 65 million years ago. Museums full of bones. Much more clinical and interesting and you don't have to feed them or clean up any mess.

Mangrove swamps like Jomtien beach used to be should be back filled for land reclamation. Who needs fish ?

Rivers should be dammed to thier full pontential for electric power. Again who needs fish, especially ones that migrate.

Actually the way this planet is going ....all of the above is happening faster than you can ever imagine.........Just one last word.

    Dodo.

    As long as you're happy......
  14. The police say that several sand dunes on the road may have contributed to this accident.........

How about a brain dead teenager (before the accident) was riding a bike at speed beyond his, and / or the bikes capabilities?

BTW, in 15yrs I've never seen sand dunes on this stretch of road (being possibly 5 kms from the nearest beach)!

The headline should read, "Another brain dead infantile adult thinking he's Valentino Rossi kills himself"!

  15. You need only 500-600 baht per day for very nice aircon. room with wifi and satellite TV near the sea ,in great location.
If you eat Thai food 200-300 baht is more than enough per day.If not ,double sum.
If you go to KOH LARN ,ship is 60 baht, both direction.
So you do not need for basic, but leisure life for 14 days more than 12000 baht.
Transportation is 10 baht songtew !Very cheap!
For 1000 baht per day ,you can "rent" young women every day if you like, hehehe

You must be Russian, But hey u didnt include sitting outside 7~11 with a bottle of Chang. ???
No,I am not Russian and I do not like a beer!
I am from European Union and I am high educated and live in Bangkok and with my Thai wife often visit Pattaya and Jomtien cos. we have small condo there(Jomtien)as well!
I have good income(high middle class) and just write true.Mostly men with low income from Europe,USA and Australia spend a lot for very low quality of life in pubs, bars and with bar women!
Sometime I feel pity for many uneducated tourist ,mainly man, which spend small fortune over the night for "nothing".Really sad!
Most rich people as I know here, does not spend money in bars here and spend less than 1500 baht per day!
Not looking for an argument Mate, but that is a strange post.
You say you don't like beer (not presuming anything else) but you seem to know a lot about bars.......
You say you are, "high" educated, when I believe you mean, "highly" educated, no?
You categorize westerners by your beliefs about their income, which you can't substantiate!
BTW, someone's small fortune is someone else's pocket money.
Lastly, judging someone's partner from a (blinkered) bar perspective, as you have just done speaks volumes!

+ 1 He doesn't like a beer? Maybe he needs 3, or more to get on his feet. From European Union, really? Why don't you write from where?

Wasn't it part of the "East Block" before the iron curtain fell?

High educated, or always high and therefore uneducated? A condo here, a condo there, not long and it's one everywhere.

Just wondering where he's met his Thai wife? At Nana perhaps, where she was in the show business?

Not making fun of him, but people who have enough cash and condos do not look down at others. Why telling people on an online forum what they've got?

How can he feel "pity" for some uneducated tourists? Better to mind your own business and let people live their lives.

The last sentence makes him look very poor. Rich people sometimes spend 10 K, or more for a good bottle of wine. People are strange.

Exactly my point, I don't need to tell anyone what I own, or what I do with money. But suffice to say I've had days out where I've spent 500 baht, and days when I've spent 200k (I'm trying to forget that one) which was my choice.
As for the rest of the comments (particularly regarding wives / family) I won't lower myself to comment on something I know nothing about and is none of my business.

You gotta be kidding. You're 15 years to late with your post. Are you from Novosibirsk?

Why? he said near the sea, not waterfront. wi fi, cable and A/C are standard in countless 500 baht rooms. Plenty of places selling Thai food at 50-70 baht a dish and even central world food court does the same. 10 baht is right for baht bus

Can you explain the 15 year gap because I dont get it ?

I went to Ko Samet for the first time, about 17 years ago. A little paradise, a huge "luxury holiday" ( big enough for 10 people) was 500 baht and right at the beach.

Food was between 25 and 160 baht. No light at night, only candles...very romantic with the right girl..

The OP wrote that a friend'as visiting, right? Then you don't want to look for the cheapest places and turn each baht around to make sure that your money is enough.

One liter of Diesel was around 11 baht and you could buy a lot more for 100 baht than you can buy with 1,000 right now.

Being on a holiday and relying on a bahtbus sounds very stupid to me. And if you can't even afford it to take a cab, where's the fun?

The OP's friend might want to have a nice looking girl. The times are over where people paid 500 baht only and 150 baht bar fine.

What about some great seafood? It became damn expensive these days, even when you're in Rayong or Chonburi.

If you go to Ko Larn, yes you can get a cheap ride, but please rent a place on the island.

My 5 baht, at least 100, or 150 K. If you want to enjoy a holiday you should have enough money. What if somebody gets sick, or anything else happens that wasn't planned?

    Excellent answer!

  18. 80K is more than enough under the follwing rules:

Hotel no more than 1200-1500 b a day

No barfining go go girls...stick to bar beer and discos.

Never tell a lady its your first time here...pretend you work in Bangers or Chiangmai, make up a job and its location beforehand because they will ask details.

Keep your bedroom allowance in check...a lot of guys lose it at the sight of the first sexy thing....no more tham 1,000 LT is my rule. 1,500 tops. But when you find someone you like, it helps to be a bit generous with treating them to meals, drinks etc.

No 1500 lobster at every meal...normal restaurants are very reasonable, even in Central.

I usually take around 80K for 2 weeks and return with 25K or so unspent.

    1500 a night hotel, 1500 a day LT = 42,000.

That's without traveling expenses, eating out, drinking, sundries, etc.

If you actually want to enjoy the above as a holiday, 80k is going to be very tight.

  19. Strange question as you appear to live here the way it's worded, and therefore I'd expect you to already have a fairly good idea.

Anyhow, you plan to do some traveling, meaning you'll have traveling expenses and accommodation to cover.

Without knowing anything else about your plans, but presuming you want to eat in decent restaurants, go out for drinks most nights, and possibly enjoy some late night (or afternoon) companionship, I'd say 140K (10K / day) would be a safer guess.

  20. Shop outside of LTD has no auto gear car. I rented a Toyota Vios from somebody there.

But failed.... Car back touched the post during parallel parking. Next Monday must go again.

The whole process is torturing, have to wait wait wait... And the rules harsh: during parking, can't use camera, can't check out of the window etc..... OMG! Maybe I need 3 or 4 times to pass, ha ha

I don't mean to sound uncaring, but if you can't pass a Thai driving test (including parking using only mirrors) you shouldn't be on the road!

The main reason there are so many accidents in this country is due to the fact that licenses are given out like confetti.

Apart from that, the posters above have already advised on your best options should you wish to go through with the test.
