  1. With two root canal treatments required soon, my question is this:

Where in CM would I find the best (painless) root canal treatment at Thai prices?

First hand experiences are most appreciated.

Looks like there are many places in Chiang Mai. i went to Tong Nat, just on the corner of Suan Dok and the canal road ( A great big purple sign, opposite a building selling organic vegetables). No pain, lots of x rays and great treatment.

  2. ok, i admit it, i binge, i dont drink a drop then i go mad, about every 2 weeks ( it takes me that long to get over it ! ) however i am always in control not drunk and sleep ok, although i dont get in til 5 am or so,.but i have almighty hangovers and for the next day i cant even get out of bed, its gotten worse,i used to recover in 2-3 days tops, now its at least a week, i feel totally drained, its much worse if i drink beer for some reason, so i drink jack/coke,.im great on the night, never throw up and COULD drive ok, ( but i dont ). any ideas ? thanks,ps ive tried all the normal advice, loads of water before bed, a hair of the dog, ! no way, :)

Any more than 2 singhas 3 jack daniels in 1-2 hours and you are drunk. You excrete a small bottle of singha every hour, or one small daniels every hour. you can't drive OK if you drink more than this, you are a danger to yourself and everyone else. Don't get me wrong. I drink but don't then drive

Since you don't say how much you drink in one episode it is difficult to say how long you should take to recover. I've never taken more than 2 days at the worst, normally feel OK the following afternoon. You may be damaging your liver /kidneys severely. have you been to have them checked?

  3. I would like to do a DETOX... where they flush your body with huge amounts of vitamins etc. Anyone done this in CM?

Just try water ( Naam Plao) the rest is not needed, excess of some vitamins is positively dangerous

  4. Hello,

I suppose to spend an extended weekend together with my girl and her daughter first week in August and look for a nice place to chill for a few days. Spacious rooms, internet connection and a big pool (possibly with bar) would be fine.

I know surfing the internet will get me tons of results but I would rather like to build on insider tips from people who can share positive experiences. Location and budget is not an issue.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Just back from the Peace Resort in Bophut. Nice bungalows,,we had a double, I am not sure about larger ones but their website will show them. All very well maintained and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Pool is close to the beach and is a reasonable ( not enormous) size, but the beach is great and you can swim there too. Pool bar and evening feature dinners/barbeques on the beach ( if it is not raining) 20 min from the airport. Quiet, but far better than Chawaeng and Lamai. Not many Thais stay there and the menu is mostly Farang. Wi Fi ( a charge)

Highly recommended. Oh and certain Europeans do not place their towels on the sun loungers at 7.00 in the morning and return at midday. Great!

  5. Hi all,

I have just had my renewal for my 1yr old (mean machine) Toyota Yaris 1.5L and the quote was 15k for full insurance. Does this sound reasonable?

I know it's based on the car but seems quite a lot GBP290, I only pay GBP170 fully comp, for a more expensive Audi A3 in the UK!

Think it's a bit of a farce that quotes are not in anyway assessed on an individual eg. I have 8yrs 'No Claims Bonus' in the UK which considerably reduces by premiums on my bikes and car.

In Thailand, I am effectively treated the same as an 18yr old Thai person, who has done the 'extensive and thorough' Thai driving test, compared to me with 20 years driving experience and having passed a UK driving test!

Reckon the insurance companies here have a 'cushy' captive market! You would have thought another insurance company would have seen the opportunity of basing the risk on the individual, rather than the car???

We have just renewed our 2.0 litre Mazda 3. First year (with Viriya) free, but 22k, second year with NCB 27K!!!!! They say the car is not new so it is more expensive even with a 10% NCB. Looked around, got 19K with LMG, any driver. Max value 750K ( Car cost 1mill). Repairers seems to be an issue and the speed of response from the insurance company can also be a prbolem. I've heard that Viriya are good, but they first have to get their head around the noition that if we drive a car for one year accident free, we expect a reduction in premium, not an increase!!!! TIT!

  6. I have noticed that TOT broadband seems fine during the day but once it gets past 6pm the speed seems to cut in half and it just goes off all the time. This could be because more people are on line but I have only had this problem over the last 6 weeks or so, anyone else experiencing anything similar?

I live in Sankamphaeng (Chiang Mai) with TOT 4 Mb/s. I've had problems for the last few days. First it runs slow then keeps cutting out and restarting. I've been on to TOT ( phone 1100 then 9 for English) and they say that because there was a long holiday it might take a few days to sort. I'm hoping they'll fix it today. This morning ( 8.00 am) working fine. It seems to get slow once the kids get out from school and start playing silly games in internet cafes; a bandwidth problem?.

  7. I suggest to post here

if someone needs an owner's manual for a bike

or any info out of it.

I hope those who have it will kindly share =)

It'd be cool if we could collect the manuals in one place.

Does anyone have an English manual for a Kawasaki Boss? The Thai version seems to contain a lot of interesting information
