Can someone explain what the word “reciprocal” as in “reciprocal tariffs” means? Has the word been redefined to mean “whatever random number Trump pulls out of his arse”.

This is the email I got from Wise on the subject.

I believe this has to do with some new money laundering measures that came into effect on May 1. Only some banks were properly prepared for the changes as regards transfers from Wise, UOB not among them. KBank and Bangkok Bank OK. The notice I read about this said they were working on getting all banks authorized to accept Wise transfers but it might take a while.

The only way he would “influence” me is to kick his teeth in!

To my knowledge the outdoor scenes were soi 7/1 (I stumbled upon the filming one day) and at least some of the indoors scenes were Tilac on Cowboy (I knew a dancer there who told me she had been paid to appear as an extra in the movie).

Were you there in the 90s? It has definitely changed a lot since then, and not for the better. I used to hang out there once or twice a week through the first half of the 90s and earlier. I used to love the atmosphere. Now it is just a loud pushy tourist trap and I can’t stand it.

Did the tourist get confused about what country he was in? Had he not bothered to learn how to greet someone in Thai and thought Chinese was an appropriate substitute?

A simple google search will show that many elected Democrat politicians have been violently threatened by MAGA types. I guess you’ve only got Foxnews in your cable package?

I really don’t think cannabis is the problem. Alcohol and other drugs are widely available and are much more commonly associated with this kind of stupid behaviour. The other problem is simply that every idiot in the world now has it in their head that Thailand is a place where you can come and behave like a complete a-hole. I’ve been here a long, long time and the quality of tourists coming here just seems to decline every year ( aside from 2020/2021 when there were none - fantastic!)

Once again the corruption and/or incompetence is out in the open for everyone too see, but tens of millions of Republican voters are too brainwashed to see it and Republican politicians are too cowardly to call it out.
