I really don’t think cannabis is the problem. Alcohol and other drugs are widely available and are much more commonly associated with this kind of stupid behaviour. The other problem is simply that every idiot in the world now has it in their head that Thailand is a place where you can come and behave like a complete a-hole. I’ve been here a long, long time and the quality of tourists coming here just seems to decline every year ( aside from 2020/2021 when there were none - fantastic!)

Once again the corruption and/or incompetence is out in the open for everyone too see, but tens of millions of Republican voters are too brainwashed to see it and Republican politicians are too cowardly to call it out.

Another premonition?

It is indeed perplexing but people get dragged into all kinds of irrational cults, Islam, Scientology, Q-anon, MAGA. It seems many people have trouble thinking for themselves and just want to follow a simplistic ideology or a charismatic leader who relieves them of the difficult task of thinking about reality.

They probably used the word because the silly woman they were interviewing used the word. They should have explained it, that’s all. I had no idea about the use of this word by Muslims and it is just one more example of the utter arrogance at the heart of the religion. You can of course say that about any religion claiming to be the one true religion but Islam often seems to take it to a whole new level.

My ancestors in Canada go back several generations so I consider myself “native” if not exactly “indigenous”. I would not mind a British or European passport but, my now distant ancestry doesn’t qualify me for one.

He doesn’t have the right to tell the owner what she can or cannot sell but he also has the perfect right to tell her that he finds the products she sells objectionable.
