  2. Im a smoker and i must say while i doubt very much it will be enforced unless for some tea money.. i do think it is a good idea as eventually alot of people will decide just to not bother smoking as it aint worth it...

I dont understand why they dont just say okay then we will just ban cigarettes period( in the U.K), i mean now one has ever directly actually died from giving up smoking...

  4. WRONG!!

You need to use an MUI Pack and install english as additional Language to the exsiting one. Ther is NOT any need for reformat and installing of the OS!

PM me if you need the MUI CD!

    Cheers.

Hey Reimar..seem's as though you branded me in capitals Wrong then i will look forward to the big capitals RIGHT and a apology tommorow when i come into work..

  6. It is very often asked for by the airlines however and you risk not being allowed to board until you can show a ticket out. I suspect on the short haul from KL that this is less likely but would always allow a little extra time when trying to avoid the conditions of entry. A ticket out is a condition of entry for visa exempt stay.

Yet again lopburi3 we seem to be in disagreement, in the 4 years iv been here apart from the poipet border i have never been asked to show a ticket....guess im lucky

  7. Is there any need to post about new virus's??? According to symantec http://www.symantec.com/security_response/...-99&tabid=2 this virus has a risk rate of 'very low' it doesnt disable the folder, task manager and registry editor..this is just going to scare some people..

$h1t happens... These blasted computers are easy prey to those who's got nothing to do with their free time. New viruses are coming out faster than any antivirus could cope up with.

Yes, BKKPERSON, this is real. My workplace is crawling with this. This is not that much threatening but it's annoying when it hides an important folder and replaces it with a file that bears the same name as th hidden folder. You can't get yor original files back because the folder options button is mysteriously gone. even the task manager seems to be disabled.

Hey, you are the Tech Support guy, right? So what do you think abut this "low risk" infection?

This post is NOT scaring me one bit. It's helping me solve a problem that our lazy IT expert is ignoring.

BTW, Thanks reimar. I will try CureIt and hope it cures it.

yeah i agree it's a pain in the arse but it is low risk and just a run of the mill virus..if there was a long old post every time a new low risk virus came out then everybody would be constantly scared...

If your place is crawling with these types of virus's then you 'lazy IT expert' clearly isn't doing his job properly as if he's any good then he would have been alerted as soon as the 1st one hit if it hit at all!!

  9. Unfortunately if the OS is in French then its a complete format then re-install but you have to make sure you have an english disk, if you can handle the OS being in french then change keyboard layout go control panel>regional language icon then keyboard and change to US..

    Hope this helps

  10. Hi Guys,

Iv been working for my employer for around 6 months unofficaly and 3 months with a work permit, they are looking for me to travel back to UK for business at various times so im looking at applying for a Credit Card purely for expenses...

Iv got about 4 months with salary banking activity + permit + visa + married..

Am i likely to get a credit card and if so who is a good one with a nice credit limit to use im currently with SCB

    Thanks

  11. Actually i had to edit this now i have re read it...

You need to tell your friend to come to a compromise with this guy..while i understand thst the guy hasnt contributed to the child up bringing he is still the father....

As a father to be soon, i hte to say it but my view would be..if i had split up with my missus and she kept the child okay fair enough..but if she palms him/her off to her family to take care of then i would go nd take care..

Lets not forgot that while 99% of the time its a mothers right to have her child with her, it isnt a given right to give them to some1 else to take care of..its either mother first then father then someone else..

but saying that i hope she sorts it out

  12. Okay, can I as a total idiot reformat my hard drive myself, or do I need the technician to do it? Last time he was here, he backed up everything; that was a few months ago.

    Thanks for your replies.

It isnt that hard aslong as you have the disk and familir with re-installing all your programs..if you want a walk through on how to do it PM me

bkkperson, thanks for the offer, but perhaps you don't realize how nontechnical I am. Time and again on here, expert computer folks have given me perfectly clear advice in Tlingit and Tzotzil, Urdu and Pashtu, thinking they were speaking English. I do not follow gibberish or jargon at all. My son makes good money as a software expert, but I guess he didn't inherit that from me.

Yeah take it to a techie then... :o

  13. You can do as many Visa exempt entries as you want. There is no limit on the number of entries.

There is a limit on the number of days used. The limit is 90 days in a period of 6 MONTHS. Not the same as 180 Days.

and how do you know that? as i have already explained when i did mine i did 3 x 30 days visa exempt then 1 60 day tourist visa then 1 extension of 30 days..and then i went back onto a 30 day visa exempt.......so tht equals 90 days out of 180 days
