  1. I would applaud with four hands if I could ! Although I do not like Taksin, he is more a greedy businessman than a humanist, I have to admit that he gave a new start to what should be "modern Thailand". All these sexpats that react with hatred to your article would be supporters of Sarah Palin in the US, their tiny little life is made of hatred and selfishness... the point is that, wherever they would live, they would criticize and exploit other. Their life is nothing but their miserable feeling of power when they treat others with arrogance.

Sorry for my poor english, I am french and not a supporter of DSK !

The 'I do not like Thaksin', Thaksin supporters are back. Welcome. We missed you.

I don't like Thaksin, but... no seriously, hear me out... elite.. coup... amart... fighter of the poor... double standards.... Abhisit the tryant... temple massacre...

You can spot 'em a mile off.

  2. I liked the article. Though it is also a little unfair on Thaivisa.com, especially currenlty. It was definitely true that all kinds of haters could post doctored pictures of Thaksin, call him Toxin and so on. This was finally cracked down upon somewhere last year. (Or perhaps the year before, not sure.)

With a little more accuracy and less wild claims it would have been a better article. Still, an interesting read. It must hit pretty close to the mark for some.

It's a propaganda piece. As pointed out by another reader, the first section warns against making sweeping generalisations thus sending an impression of being reasonable and just. The remainder of the article then uses this thin veneer to make all sorts of sweeping assumptions about ThaiVisa users.

Can't blame Dan though; good money in it, allegedly.

  3. Who is Dan Waites?

    Actually, who cares?

This really is some of the worst journalistic writing that I have seen in a long time. I wonder how much Taxsin :whistling: paid Dan to wrote that article?

    0ne of us, forum members

Do we have a member called "failedjournalist" ?

I think we have a few

Currently 31 years old, married 4 years with my Thai partner of 7 years (from today). Moved here in 2001 working as a software engineer in expat position with work permit throughout. Disappointed I was missed by our newfound budding hack when he interviewed Thaivisa members 101 for this article. Incidentally all but one of the non-Thaivisa-using expat colleagues I've worked with over the years have taken a strong dislike to Thaksin over the past two years - yes, some where supportive and felt he was treated unfairly by the coup (despite him being responsible for closing the farang-orientated dens of inequity early). All that was blown entirely out the water with the events of the previous two Songkran holidays.

When the stats don't work in your favour, smear.

Am contactable via PM btw :)

  4. It looks to me Yingluck experience are within her own family business (though a public company). If this is her only resume, I personally cannot bring myself to be excited about her qualifications.

And yet it is more than Abhisit can point to. Abhisit cannot even point to having held any job in any kind of business, not even a corner grocery store.

He's always been in an academic/political environment basically from birth.

^ Which can be frowned upon when perusing a career in politics. Thai politics, that is.

  5. I'm no red supporter, but I vote for Yingluck. She's hot. That's all this country needs -- a good image. How can you people think that good-looking things are NOT good?? Tch. Farang thinking. You and this stupid thing you call 'logic'. Everyone knows that rich people are always good and are rich because they've done good things in their past life. Who cares if they're corrupt "now"? Theyve been good in their past life!! Don't you silly farangs understand this??

 Love it. See you on stage on the 19th at Ratchaprasong :D

I don't think they understand irony on the stage at Ratchaprasong

    jap.gif

Which will make it all the more entertaining ;)

  6. Frankly, despite the intentions of marking the death of red shirts (obviously honourable regardless of stance), a mass protest may work very much against them and Phua Thai - especially if the violent element rears its head. Their leaders and sponsors have cried wolf too many times (and subsequently caught out) should they try and point the blame elsewhere if violence breaks out.

But then there's also the prospect of violence provoked as a way to postpone what's looking like a very unpredictable election result.

  8. Very good.

QUOTE(Insight):"Personally doubt very much the person funding the overwhelming majority of red shirt activities would of escaped his attention, along with the agenda of that person."

Lennon was an aggessive and violent individual. He would have had an affinity with The Red-Shirts and their cause. After all - in real life his friends included such violent extremists as David Peel - Jerry Rubin and Abbie Hoffman who made no secret of their support of violence to further their agenda.

And as for Thaksin - although Lennon sang:

"Imagine no possessions - I wonder if you can". He also lived a millionaire's lifestyle at the time so any contradictions Thaksin and his ethics may have posed for him would have been easily overcome and ignored.

I have my doubts as to whether Lennon was "an aggressive and violent individual" - everything I understood about the guy runs completely contrary to that. It's interesting that you acknowledge its this characteristic of the red shirts he would of been attracted to however.

But watching how you've swayed from one side to the other over the years, something tells me this is more a case of bulmercke, a rebel with any cause he can cling to.

  9. Regarding John Lennon, I remember he wrote a song called ' Give Peace A Chance' and 'Imagine', I don't think he was on the side of violence at all.

As for the switch of Sanoh and his sons- this is a man who vehemently oposed the 1996 'green' constitution for imposing checks and balances on politicians- and Yoko Ono supports him!

Can you see John Lennon siding with the likes of Jutaporn, Arisman, Nuttawut, or - Thaksin.

Associating his legacy with the Thaksin's disciples is a complete insult to his legacy.

You really think he'd overlook the person paying (the vast majority of) the red shirts and his agenda? I highly doubt it.

Two probably unpopular points but I think probably undeniable - with some reflection

1.John Lennon would have been a strong supporter of the redshirt movement, not of old fashioned feudal/military interests.

2.John Lennon was an airhead, hopeless overrated as a "thinker", self centred and intellectually incoherent - great rock and roll voice though.

You're right jayboy. John would have undoubtedly been a Red. And your No.2's spot-on.

Power To The Reds. Working Class Red. Give Reds A Chance. Free John Sinclair and Jatuporn. Baby's In Red. Reds Are Nigger Of The World. A Day In The Life (Of A Red) and Being For The Benefit of Mister T.

Personally doubt very much the person funding the overwhelming majority of red shirt activities would of escaped his attention, along with the agenda of that person.

  11. Could some journalist out there please please please interview the woman wearing that "wikileaks" shirt one-on-one for opinions on Assange and his uneasy relationship with the media...?

Or is she wearing it because she was told to?

/edit to add - stupid tossers.

    You guys seem upset. Bless.

So, rude AND smugly condescending. You are quite multi-talented. I was just saying that your post seemed decidedly stupid-tosser-esque.

    Thanks for your concern.

Thanks for tampering with the posts. I was going to reply to your original comment but seems like you've deleted it from the above. Never mind.

Hi Insight. Don't quite get the "stupid tossers" bit. Please explain.

Some Journalist out there should interview 'Insight' one-on-one for opinions on stupid tossers, Jatuporns bail and what the thai words on the T-shirt say.

Strange that Insight can call people he doesn't know 'stupid tossers' but if anyone - having had the dubious benefit of reading this individual's self-penned personal opinions first - calls Insight a 'stupid tosser' as a result, then that is not considered cricket.

    Etiquette is a curious thing.

    You guys seem upset. Bless.

  14. This "attempted assassination" is already starting to stink pretty badly IMO. He may of took a bullet at close range by an M16 and survived, but within hours the guy is already declaring his duty to the second coming and making the right-level-of-vague finger points at somebody who repeatedly gets blamed by the red shirts for all the chaos caused by the red shirts.

All the makings of a Thaksin stunt...

  15. Oh and people can't have a different opinion than you? Just like the elite/ military in Thailand. I actually joined because I was disgusted with the one-sided nature of the forum.

Everyone supports the government .... can anyone join the dots here............

Here's some dots for you - the antics of the red shirt supporters last year, combined with similar antics the year before, turned even some of the most ardent supporters of Thaksin on this forum against him.

One of the second coming's new election policies is effectively promising debt to those who really shouldn't be in debt. This is after the globe is still reeling from a major economic crisis, the primary cause of which being loans being given to those who are not able to repay them. Do you really expect people with even a basic level of education to buy into this crap he is offering?
