  1. it is more then 50 years in this mad war on drugs (realized by a criminal called "Nixon") of wasting tax-money and criminalize mostly the best of our people due to an overpopulated state employees department after the legalization of alcohol after the prohibition. At the front of this fight was a sick man with the name Anslinger and his helpers. After some smart government staff realized that this is is also a good tool to criminalize mexican immigrants (legal and illegal's) and furthermore a good source for the CIA and all those allies to make secret (black) money until today. In the late sixties also a perfect tool to search all those not conform with the right wing government's, and this not only in the US. same in Europe. Also we know that the criminalization of "Ganja" in Thailand is a tool for the cops to make a good pocket money in the touristic areas all over the country. All this is just a sick behaving of sick people all over the planet. How many people die through wrong medicamentation in the hospitals? Nevermind, this is also big (legal) money of some big industry's!

B.t.w. some many years ago Ganja was been smoked everywhere in Thailand, families were using it for dinner mostly in the soup (Tom Yam Khung), but the Alcohol Industry was very successful in this and just look the alcoholism in this country (or everywhere else), it was also sold on the local markets, nobody had a problem with it.

  2. Stop this insane "War of Drugs", initialized by War Lords, maintained by corrupt politician and the World Wide Mafia, destroying millions of lives through criminalisation of a sickness (addicts) and demonised by the press, wasting billions of $, filling up Jails around the world to make real criminal out of harmless people......when you get it, that the way it is held right now since about 50 years is the wrongest and inefficient way of all possibilities possible? Legalize all and hand over the control to responsible people in charge, stop demonising something which is older (using "drugs") then the actual WAR civilization!!

Wake up folks in the governments around the planet, don't waist your time for a mission impossible! You will never ever succeed. And the way it is handled right now is the most dumb way possible.

  3. Fugitive and former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra recently issued a statement, congratulating Myanmar's Aung San Suu Kyi on her freedom after spending 15 of the last 21 years in detention.

The statement also said that the Burmese junta made the right decision

and he sent a completely different signal earlier....

Thaksin Accepts Reasons for Detaining Suu Kyi

    The Irrawaddy - December 13, 2004

Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra says he understands why the Burmese government continues to hold opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi under house arrest.

Speaking in his weekly radio address, Thaksin said he found the reasons given by the Rangoon government for Suu Kyi's continued detention "reasonable enough and convincing."

Thaksin raised the issue of Suu Ky's detention when he met the Burmese leader Sr-Gen Than Shwe during the Buddhist conference in Rangoon last week. He said Than Shwe had told him Suu Kyi remained under house arrest "because the last three times that (she) has been released it would always lead to difficulties."

Thaksin, speaking on Thai radio following his return from Burma, noted that "there was always political violence and turmoil following (the) two or three previous releases of Aung San Suu Kyi."

Thaksin also said he thought it "necessary for Myanmar's government to have political stability

I have commented elsewhere on this. The comments made by Thaksin in 2004, sickening though they are, (his latest comments are just sanctimonious) are not untypical views of key elements in the Thai establishment - ruling politicians, feudalists, aristocrats, senior military and corporate.A key strand is that Aung San Suu Kyi is not really Burmese at all (i.e doesn't understand Burmese culture) and that democracy is in any case a chimera.Politicians are corrupt and only the army can provide integrity and security.Essentially for these delightful people Burma provided a vision of Thailand as they would dream of - a thuggish, Buddhist, army dominated totalitarian state (sustained by a fairytale), where the people knew their place (and those who objected were cut down violently).

  4. Perhaps the owner has changed recently I haven't seen the owner of IVC in quite some time) but I've known the original (Thai) owner of Island View Cabana for 20 years and have always found him to be pleasant and polite. Perhaps he doesn't like litter on the beach. Perhaps the visitors use their toilets and amenities and never bother to pay. Just curious if you asked him why he didn't allow Thais and if you are certain the owner was the man in question as I was under the impression that he has had a manager for a few years now.

no change, still the same family, and he is a nice guy, only he is taking care very much his place!! And this place is a very nice place. All bungalows were built "new" last year. The front beach bungalows go for 1000- 1500 in the high season and the rest of the year you can easy bargain with him. You can still find easy a bungalow on his site for 400 Baht. Always good service in the restaurant. This beach is also for many tourist "the beach to go with the bike etc. It is my beach too, for a beach day :)

After all changes it is still a cool place to go. Nobody get stopped when coming with his thai wife or a thai husband.

You get some pictures on my web site! Just scroll down to get to the link (small pictures) "go cabana"

  6. Yesterday I've seen in Thong Sala (Koh Phangan), 2 young Thai guys bringing each a Tookay hanging from a stick and a rope.

I don't know if there is any connection with the above.

    :(

it is........they are now everywhere on the hunt in the after noon and at the night. Came accross my house too. Minimum weight is 300 gr = 2'000 Baht

  7. I know that there is trouble in the capital - but anarchy? Don't see it. Sitting in my house, cartoons are on for my son. Gardener is watering my plants, True internet and TV working as normal. Aircon is on, so electricity is working. The only anarchy I see at the moment is TV posters battling back and forth. I prefer my world to yours - out.

...................Garbage journalism is probably a bigger threat to Thailand than the redshirts....they do say the pen is mightier than the sword...for good or evil.

that one who get's to the point!

  8. Hi

open a paypal account (they will verify your details) and you can go. They have a cool email solution.

You need to give the buyers email and the amount in a mask on paypal, that's all. All the rest is generated through paypal.

After that you can follow the buyers move and payment. You need to charge something for the money transfer, depending the amount requested.

If the payment is made, paypal play's monopoly with the money for at least one week ;-)

After that you move the amount to your account by your thai bank (which will be and must be verified also through paypal before). Just follow the clear instructions.

Quite simple and easy, I use it for my booking business too

Just try no problem at all

  9. a post in my FB, yesterday regarding party's in BAN TAI

"16th Feb - SPECIAL CHARITY PARTY will be organised in the Jungle Experience area - ALL PROCEEDS WILL BE DONATED to the local community groups to provide better services for poor children and the elderly people in Baantai. This event is a collaboration by all the party organizers in Baantai to give something back to our local people. PLEASE COME AND SUPPORT OUR CAUSE!

Charity event is sponsored by Jungle experience, Half moon, Blackmoon Culture, Shiva Moon, Baan Sabai, Vuuv Experience, Mac Bay resort, Anahata, Kai Bar Haad Thian, Good hope Resort Haad yuan, Thongka Village, the Mayor of Koh Phangan the village leaders of moo 2 and moo 3"

  10. 1. I am shocked that still so many people pay whatever price is asked, supporting this kind of nightly terror and anarchy. Wish they'd charge you 1000 Baht!

    2. After puyai baan (head of Bantai / Kpg), villagers and party organizers had an agreement last year on 1 event / party / month, which is totally ignored since this highseason, the guys in brown might have seen a chance for a massive hike in their financial participation.

    3. Thanks to all of you partypeople, keeping my family, especially my two young daughters awake for so many nights.

Party - no problem, but not open air (!!!), keeping all the village of Bantai / Phangan and now also Lamai & Chaweng sleepless!

Being a holiday island isn't a permit for terrorize us so many nights!

that's sound for me like buying "cheap" land near an international airport and later running to stop the traffic.

As mentioned in another post, it was always a party island and the "additional" party's are almost all in Ban Tai area since 8 years!!

There are many quiet places on this island still.

  11. I heard from someone who went to the last half moon that the charge was 500 because they had some special DJ in for the one night. apparently that isnt' the case after all.

It was the 8th anniversary of the meanwhile world famous party event. Incl. live bands and a CD and also others. And I guess the reason are fare more complex regarding this price. I just remeber the last year's media about the island.

Btw, there is already an effect of a little peak (like the big peak, the fullmoon) to see her on the island. I guess also the party "space" will be soon to small, due to it's raising popularity by the real party goer's. ;-)

Fullmoon is more a "Ballermann Scene"

  12. Conditions for the perfect storm.

Yes. So it would appear. The events of the last 2 months, ramping up over the last 2 weeks, and the impending conclusion of the assets case, all point to the possibility of very troubled times ahead in the very near future.

maybe a red airport this time? The timing is "good" all advance booking payments are done ;-). Would they let it happen? I guess they can't. Are "they" all in their own trap? No good at all! There is not much space left, thank to all those "concrete heads"! Climbing high, falling deep, comes to my mind.

  13. Have heard several stories about seasickness and rough pitching about when the seas were rough riding the big catamaran. I agree it looks to be a good design despite these stories, but, I always feel somewhat trapped in there as evacuating the main cabin would be dificult to do rapidly. I think that would be true even under good conditions and even more so in emergency conditions.

btw. Lomprayah is not operating the 7 o'clock boat and the evening boat back to Ko Phangan. No boat this morning, the cashier said since five day no boat for this time. I had to go with old Songserm. When coming back with Songserm the 11 o'clock boat was crossing us.

  14. Can anyone suggest any bungalows on Ao Sri Thanu ? I used to live on Haad Yao beach for 6 months in 1996, and ran a small bar there, the only one on the beach at the time. However I was shocked to see how developed Haad Yao beach has become when I passed through there about 4 years ago. So am looking for something quieter and more basic, as it was back in 93 to 96 when I used to visit a lot.

    Many Thanks

very laid back is the "Golden Rock" (Bovi Beach) back to the 90's and Had Chaopao Bungalows at the Had Chaopao Beach. Golden Rock is near the Agama Yoga school, so many yogi's there. Jinda Bay was cool too, but already split to 2 resorts, since 1 month. The new part is now Benjamin's Hut, at the upper end of the beach. Jinda Bay remain the 9 upper bungalows and the shop.
