  1. General planing concept on all island's

replanting the arrival coastline in Thongsala with hundreds of coconut tree's and all other places they been taken away. Could be a good learning process for the kids here, and something they could be proud of later.

improve electric system, improve use of solar cell,

improve the research on the archipelago with wise themas through the student's

improve "green Phangan" clear the waste problem, easy to do today!

making walk way's all over the island, with natural learning paths, for tree's and plant's or what so ever! Make jungle treks for everybody to walk, maintain and protect. Attract nature loving people and

create a system of electric car's for public transport on the island's. Something like that could be a hipe for the island's in some years to come!

improve the behavior of the see and fishing staff (and the locals), due to the immense waste they throwing into the sea........

  2. To all you Phangan people out there, should we have a seperate pinned thread for Phangan restaurants or would including it in the Samui thread be ok?

The reason I ask is yesterday my husband and I went out for a late lunch at the Peppercorn in Sri Thanu. Excellent food, good portions for reasonable prices. I had the schnitzel with mushroom sauce and sauteed potates. Delicious and only 180 baht (good sized portions too). My husband had the NZ t-bone steak with blue cheese sauce, baked potato and green salad for 490. Very large portions, good steak, cooked to perfection, the sauce was very good.

So, I would like to add the Peppercorn in there, but wondered if it was worth it start a new thread or not.

What do you guys think? Are there enough restaurants to warrant its own thread? Would we get lost in the Samui thread?

Any decent mexican food on KPNG?

yes, Ando Loco's place outside Thongsala on the mainstreet to Ban Tai, right hand, lot's of plant's. Nice place, nice owner's

  3. long time i had the plan to go to the famous italian restaurant in Chaloklum, everybody talk's about, when it comes to good italian food.

The restaurant is in the old village part at the house row which have access to the beach. Actually many nice places there. But back to the Cucina Italia how it is named with a small board on the small street. It looks like all thai restaurant there. a small garden place above the beach (go through the restaurant's empty room. So have a look out for that board.

We tried Pizza of coarse and other tasty stuff like seafood salad and we were served with a small digestive (local brandy). Gieni (or so ;-) the owner makes really good italian pizza's. They are making the best pizza at the west coast so far. Nice atmosphere! I could even get a nice spicy chilly oil. The "bread" is thin and crispy. Enjoy

    here some pictures

  4. Yes, I've noticed the closures since I got back, our two favorite Laab places have closed (one opp the boxing arena on the Ban Tai road, the other in Ban Tai village) so if anyone knows of a good laab place I'd be interested.

The Indian curry place on the Ban Tai road is gone as well.

the one closed next to boxing (I missing this one too) ....her younger sister has the restaurant at the left, when you passing Limpipong and the "Light" turning right. Very nice and good Issan food under the big shady tree ;-)

    btw, near your place.....

I've heard about a new great place outside Ban Tai, Thai couple making Italian food and the pizza's (and all other served dishes) must have been great said an italian pizza lover friend of mine. The name of the restaurant seems to be "Gondula". They doing a very good job they said. Will check sooner or later my self and comment. But sounds interesting to me!

  5. Last Wednesday afternoon, Dr Pong took her own life. She was in her late 20's.

To those of us who've had the blessing of knowing our friend, it would be difficult to find the words to describe this kind, smiling, softly-spoken soul.

Dr Pong's lies in state at Thongsala's Wat Rad. Her body will be cremated on Tuesday 6pm.

Rest In Peace, my good friend - you will be missed by many souls on this island.

it is so sad, Phong had so many friend's? Why did you not talk? We are shocked! Go in peace! Our thought's are with you.

  6. Thailand has failed??

You know any state that has not failed to reach the goals we could???? Is there not something strange going on everywhere and in every state on this globe? Nobody shall tell me that this is it, as we live on this planet right now with all this shit going on around us!! You name it, the list will be long!

Nevertheless everything is just as it must, the way we proceed. Everything is just a mirror. And as it looks at the moment (particular in Thailand), that the history written right now, seems to be very bad for the future too. A lot of ignorance going on everywhere.

Same same but different, best what comes to my mind

  7. just wait until all the banks that have loaned the money for these failed projects start to go under. best keep your cash under the mattress!

on a totally different subject, has anyone seen that new building project on the beech across from Annada in Wok Tum? and when i say 'on the beach' i'm not joking, it's about 10cm from high tide line. i thought there was a limit of 12m from the sea for buildings

there will be a restaurant for the new small resort with 7 AC bungalows on the other side of the street, just next to the also new builded Hinkong Resort, which serves nice food (little expensive, tasty pizza) but good kitchen. This one is actually on sell if you are interested ;-)

That restaurant is also to near the beach according the local police! Just wait next december storm. I guess people just learn that way.

  8. In Chalok Lam, there are 2 hornbills that visit the Chalok Lam Bay Resort and Wattana Resort.

The birds are wild and fly in when they feel like it but there are a number of strange things going on.

    1. They are virtually unafraid of humans, allowing people to get within arm's length. This is very odd as hornbills are deep forest birds not garden birds. Could be accustomed to humans through tourists and resort workers feeding them fruit but I don't buy it.

    2. They are always together. This is not surprising for hornbills. But you have a male great hornbill and a female rhinoceros hornbill. They are completely different species. Be aware hornbills mate for life. Hybridisation between close species is commonly recorded amongst birds. Very surprising though.

    3. Rhinoceros hornbills are only found in Thailand in the forests of the deep south in Yala, Narathiwat and Satun. It would be amazing if a vagrant found its way to the forests of Phangan and then mated with a great hornbill. Possibly a population of rhinoceros hornbills on Phangan was not previously recorded or it is a true vagrant.

    4. I'm not sure if there is a population of great hornbills on Phangan. This species may be limited to the mainland in Surat. Arguably it's a short flight from the mainland to Phangan.

The point I am making is that in all likelihood, these birds have been brought to Phangan as 'pets' (Rich Thais like to keep hornbills as pets, I have often seen them in cages in the oddest locations.) and then released into the wild. Does anyone know the background? There must be some posters who have seen these birds. They're certainly a big hit with the tourists.

  9. Let's all be honest here. Would anyone report a person for drug dealing or distribution if you had your chance to be anonymous? This is what this thread is all about isn't it?

they (historians) call that "nazi behavor" blackmailing, was a tool they used to implement too in their politics. What a change of a country (or an area) where all started because the drug trail from Europe to Australia those day's or let's say it the real way,the hippie trail. What a awesome time, as one here said about the honesty and trust in those times between locals and travelers some people forget very fast. Or otherwise never wanted to understand!! It is awfull in my mind anyway.

In India was a simmilar "problem" due to this hippie trail, thousands under way, making the Hindus thinking Shiva and Parvaty hanging around everywhere in India :)

  10. There is lot's of Yoga on the island. That being said, even if you go and check out Agama's course and it's not to your liking there are about 5 more places to do Yoga all within a 5 to 10 motorbike ride in the same part of the island. During high season, that is.

As mentioned before there is the party scene and there is a Yoga scene as well. You can find Yoga classes and courses on Thong Nai Pan, Had Tien, Had Yuan, Had Wynam, Had Rin, and the greater Had Yao area.

Samui has a lot as well.

if you looking for a good yoga retreat, i would propose to check "Monte Vista Retreat" near Thongsala! If you like "clubbing" like "Osho" (Guru) Agama is sure the best ;-) Agama is a Tantric Yoga school and very popular.

Near Had Salad you find two cool Yoga schools, Pyramid Yoga (which is on sale or sold already) and the "Yoga Retreat" (Hata Yoga).

If you looking for a Buddhist retreat, then "Wat Kao Tam" in Ban Tai would be the place! Very famous in the Buddhism world. All have websites! Their 10 day retreat is famous. There are many more in the high season as mentioned in an other post here from Seville!

  11. I think the one on the right is the cutest out of all of them, what place did she get? :D:D

This is what I thought! :D

I dream about a society where finally all the races and colors will be mixed, where you don't get jail a professor going to open his house's door thinking is a burglar only because of his skin colour.

Where people stop talking about a perfect english girl to be white.

We need more time, but sooner or later we shall be everybody mixed (maybe a bit chinese :D ) and those problems be finish.

When this happens I also hope that the whole miss- competition is out of the world too... Not only colour is skin deep, but also the physical specs. It only a thin layer.

I didn't think the comment was racist. How would we have reacted as miss Korea looked like a Scandinavian woman? Probably surprised, right? :D

    Greets,

    Miss Tiramisu

(with real pure chocolate rasp on a white creamy layer of Mascarpone. Black & White..perfect combination! A piece of heaven on earth!)

    :)

  12. Miss England takes a break

She will compete in Miss World after her 10-night stay at Santhiya Resort & Spa, on Koh Pha-ngan, Thailand.

looks real english to me :D , anyway she seem to be a beautiful lady and she has a good taste :D

    post-56008-1248686866_thumb.png

    Oh yes.....very British.

Looks as British as the American President looks American :D:)

anyway it was more about fun and that she is coming to KP. She is positiv "British" for me what ever this means to you! She is beautiful and who de f.. cares where this beautiful woman comes from in those days (except her routs maybe), where all is mixed up :D :D :D
