  1. for the last month i have experienced continuous problems, connection falling down, or going dormant.

has anybody else the same problems or am i the lucky one?

I guess CAT having problems, I experience the same since quite some days and it is getting worse. I use the CMDA WiFi Modem. Sometimes just normal good speed and the next moment death, no traffic, just nothing. Terrible! Amateurs!

  2. what's haad salad like? does it take long to get there and are the roads as bad as peeps make out, i've seen a place there i'd like to stay at.

Had Salad is a nice place, with some "higher budget" resorts and some "normal budget" bungalows, some shops and ATM. Nice beach but low water in the after noon (high in the morning) at this time of the year. Some places have a swimming pool.

Very good and new costal road via Had Yao just finished.

If you like it there, my addvise would be "Salad Hut" with Pong and Katarina, swimming pool included. Nice layout has also "Green Papaya"

  3. Went over for the Sat night showings and left with an overall good impression. They had Stephen Nemeth - one of the producers of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" giving a talk to attendees before the films got started. The locale right on the beach was classic. If I'm around again next year I'll be sure to go. Anyone else here go?

I went friday only but liked the music movie "Laya Project" (2007 India/Malaysia) very much, great sound, great drums, great voices and great cut. Would love to heare some more about saturday and sunday. Anyway great location. Hope we can join the 3rd PFF next year!

    movie here: http://www.layaproject.com/layaproject/index.html

  4. this has been brought up a few times here on TV

also note it is possible to drive a car directly on to the runway at Samui Airport ( at depatures )

hard to take off in a car :P

    :o:D:D :D :D:wai:

anyway everywhere in Thailand it would be easy, there are much more fragile targets then this airport in LOS. There on this airport I can imagine, we are quite safe ;-)

  5. Thaksin should shut his big mouth and let Thailand heal itself. While he keeps making these nonsense calls, he is only making things worse. What a horribly selfish man.

    ....could not agree more.

horrible selfish greedy man...who exploits and cheats his people.

if only the red shirts could see they are just being used....

    and the yellow shirts aren't??

A faint parallel was Northern Ireland: Too many Catholics, Too many Protestants, Not enough Christians.

Some points in this forum are too extremist and vindictive. Think a middle way.

and here it fit with: "not enough walking on Gautama's path"

  6. Saw a sign on the side of the Ban Tai road, just outside Thong Sala saying that George Thoroughgood and the Destroyers were going to play in Haad Yao West at some festival on Feb 12, 13 and 14. Got no details other than that as my husband would not slow the car down so I could have a better look :o

    Anyone know anything about this?

I remember well the LP's from them so many years ago. The guitar was amazing. I remember I bought one at that time.

  7. Hi folks,

Do you know how much I can expect to pay to rent a jeep for a month in Phangan?

I only found a day price of 1000thb...that's the price of a new and nice car in other parts of Thailand...AFAIK the old jeeps go for as low as 10-13k/month in expensive locations like Phuket...

How much can it be in Phangan?

I asked the "My Hut Travel" guy today and he said 15'000 Baht/month and he has 2 brand new jeeps

  8. The new year in Koh Phangan, exactly in Haad Rin, was one of the biggest (maybe the biggest) party of the last 10 years.

Hmm, Christmas was pretty dead, not many around, nice and relaxed... but my friend and I had to leave on the 30th because we could not find any good rooms available for the 30th-1st, so I wondered how busy it got over New Year. That's good news for the locals. So much for all the crying about Thai tourism being negatively affected by recent events.

it was like a tsunami of tourist swaping over the island. I never saw it full like that. Now few days later the wave went back, to coming back for the fullmoon party? Anyway I guess it will be less crowded after the party again. The weather was also not helpful to make people staying longer. Actually it remains the same as every year, just more numbers coming and going aswell.

  9. I saw yesterday an add on the street, that "job2do" give a concert, so I went to the site in Ha Yao, where they usually play to check the time etc.

There is a live concert in Had Yao (outside the village direction to Had Salad on the new street) for Reggae Fans, the famous Job-2-do (local heros) will give a live concert starting 9 p.m. It is always a great atmosphere when they playing live, the crowd (thai and farangs) are singing their songs with them.

  10. I saw that sign too, Ham, didn't realize they were going to show an open air movie. Wonder where since all the shops are right on the road :D

and just so you know, you can catch that guy drumming every night :o

I heard that this guy is making his classes outside of his room. I mean I like drums but I would not like to be his neighbor :D

there is also the big site of one of Limpipongs daughter, a 200 bedroom complex, I guess it is not a quiet place anymore :D but maby many new guests/customer showing up in this area

  11. When driving from Ban Tai to Hadrin short before the steep streets starts (Ban Kai Village), I saw this banner over the street. Some people living in that area (Thai and Farangs together) trying something new on Ko Phangan. It should be a kind of Art Festival I guess. I got some information right at the place from the groupe behind it when stopping there. You can find more info on my website, where I have added the whole information. It seems to be somebodys birthday as well. They have a own website but there is only that banner on the picture below.
