  1. IMO the forum today is not the same place as it was when I started on it, and it changed long before the name did. I could spend 4 times as long on it then than I do now, for reasons I can't discuss on here.
  2. My opinion is that it doesn't exist, so according to you that makes it true for me. My philosophy on life is that <deleted> happens, whether we deserve it or not. Is the death of a 2 year old because of a brain tumour karma, or just <deleted>?.
  3. I am somewhat similar, though I think we come at it from different directions. I believe in a creator, because I see nature and I refuse to believe that it just happened from nothingness, by some cosmic accident. We know the stars were born, and will end when their fuel runs out, so to me the only logical answer to how they came to be has to be by a superior force, which I call God. There are often times I wish God interceded in our lives, but the evidence I see says otherwise.
  4. Had you, or seth stopped there I'd agree, but driving full tilt into the weeds loses me. The commonly accepted meaning of "beginning" is satisfactory to me. Before the beginning there was nothing, and then after the beginning there was the universe to be. I don't need more than that.
  5. If that's true, why are my "rewards" so minor and my "punishments" so major? It's not like I'm an evil person, though I make mistakes, as do everyone.
  6. Religions IMO depend on having people believe that they need saving, and they need the men in funny hats to save them by interceding with god, for a price.
  7. Thanks for pointing that out. Saved me the trouble.
  8. LOL. Do you think you know more about Thais than everyone that disagrees with you on here? Respect? 5555555555555
  9. Agree. Seems to me the main people that like getting "offended" in LOS are farangs that think they are superior beings to the locals.
  10. 55555555555555555 It amuses me when posters claim that learning Thai is essential to living in LOS- IMO it isn't, unless living in a village in middle of nowhere ( as I did ). I did make an effort and learned enough of the language to get by. Didn't make any difference to being exploited by the Thai family.
  11. ???????????????? Didn't you say you were dropping this thread a few posts back? But well they seem to Like me now, and me taking my Boys there, like Children, also. ... So well all goes well, and the Soi Cowboy's fall, worked out well at least in my Own Mind, .... So, Yes Fellows, ... I will drop this Thread also now my Self. ...
  12. Seems many are humour bereft. Anyone with a brain cell can see it's NOT about Jesus ( who does feature briefly, but from a distance ), but about Brian- it even says Brian in the title.
  13. Well, given Joe's rather poor record of getting things done, he needs something like this to attempt to get voters to elect him, not that I expect him to win the primaries.
  14. I hope he isn't the candidate, but if he is I expect everything about it to be very interesting. I said that before he was elected and I was not disappointed in the ensuing 4 years. Joe is every bit as bad as I expected and what's worse, he's boring.
  15. I disagree, mainly because I don't think they are well educated at all.
  16. You are correct. No need to invite the bounder at all.
  17. You can buy fridge wheels, but they only go forwards or backwards. No idea if sold in Thailand. You can also cut a piece of ply right size and put loads of castors on it for them to put fridge on. My fridge ( with no wheels on the back ) sits on a DIY wheeled piece of ply for the inevitable times when something falls behind it.
  18. I think the difference between myself and some other posters is that while they believe that God will intervene in our lives, I do not. I don't think humans are of any more concern to God than any other species on planet earth, and if we exterminate ourselves, so be it. IMO if God did care, God would do something to change the insanity that has gripped the human world today, but as was mentioned in the Bible, we have had the prophets, and if we choose to ignore them our fate is of our own making. My only thought as to the future of human kind is to wonder what will replace us when we have polluted ourselves into extinction.
  19. ?????????????? Souls are above present day science to understand. Why do people think present day primitive science knows everything, when it can't even prevent cancer.
  20. Agree. I used to do that much of my life. First time was when I had a Welsh pen friend and I was farming at the time. I couldn't think of a single interesting thing to write about, but I thought that once I joined the military I'd have loads of interesting things to write about. Of course I was wrong- not about the military, which was very interesting, but because I couldn't see all the interesting things to write about farming. PS, she stopped writing to me and I don't blame her.
  21. Why is it that karma seems only to be about punishment for bad deeds? Why isn't it also about rewards for doing good deeds?
  22. Perhaps it is you that is blind to spirituality. Well known quote ( not religious either ) "there are none so blind as those that will not see"
  23. IMO she has no clue at all. Intelligent but zero common sense.
  24. The debate is IMO about whether we are part of God, or separate beings, and I am for the latter ( I may have got that wrong- if so apologies ). So for me higher self is not "God", but our "good side" as opposed to our "bad side" ( lower self where envy, avarice, greed and hate etc reside ). Some people are controlled by their lower self, some are in battle between the two, and a few are totally in their "good side".
