Over 1,000 detained in Thai nominee crackdown on foreign businesses
thairookie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Ministry of Commerce needs to work with the Lawyer's Council of Thailand. The Committee of Professional Ethics must now include a new regulation to suspend the practicing certificates of errant lawyers involved in registering such companies. The lawyers are the ones touting the "loopholes" when there is no loophole to begin with. -

Over 1,000 detained in Thai nominee crackdown on foreign businesses

Can I invite the Ministry of Commerce to go after property agencies in Pattaya too ? It's important that Russians are also represented. Of course, their business cards will not show they are property agents. They are employed as "marketing analyst". 😄 After they have analyzed the buyer they will collect a fee from the seller. -

Thailand Cracks Down on Foreigners Using Thai Nominees
thairookie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They should begin by investigating the law firms that helped register such entities. The law firms would often give assurances that it was fine to have Thai nominees. By removing a dozen of lawyers from the Thai Bar or Lawyer's Council, it will serve as an indication to potential Thai nominees that the Government means business. -
Indian Tourist Assaulted Outside Pattaya Convenience Store

The one from outside must be the motorbike taxi man. They are the unofficial officers of the unofficial Homeland Security Department. -
You entered Thailand with a visa exempt passport, and before your 30 days is up you decide to extend your @ Immigration. Most people go to the Immigration Department to have their extension done, but some people pay the agency to do it. How does the agency do it ? I'm curious because I'm pretty sure the person seeking extension has to be there. Does the agency pay the Immigration Officer for the convenience ?

Police break up network aiding foreigners to stay in Thailand
thairookie replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This scam model could not have worked without the involvement of a lawyer qualified by Lawyer's Council of Thailand. The foreigners sought the advice of lawyers, and it was the lawyers who advised them on the status of law and gave the go-ahead. The foreigners relied solely on the legal advice of such lawyers who were supposed to provide correct legal advice and regulated by Lawyer's Council of Thailand. The witch hunting mustn't stop just at the foreigners. The Thai nominees were willing participants in the scam, the lawyers were directing the scam, and the foreigners relied on the Lawyer's Council of Thailand to regulate the conduct of the lawyers. The lawyers didn't just breach their professional conduct, they were aiding and abetting the foreigners to scam the Government, and they were emboldened by the silence of the Lawyer's Council of Thailand, as silence could be construed as tacit permission. -

They should also arrest the lawyers who helped register these companies and report these lawyers to the Lawyer's Council of Thailand for fraud. The lawyers should be struck off from the Lawyer's Council of Thailand as the dishonesty of the foreigners in setting up these fraudulent companies were aided by the lawyers who helped them with the registration, especially arranging for Thai nominees to form the 51% shareholders. -
