You made this post in another thread:

Any good Thai Language schools near The Mall Bangkapi or Central Grand Rama 9 ?  I live on the top side of Airport Link, and heading south of that is a commute nightmare.

I know of one in RCA but have not heard anything good on it.

So, I am assuming you are looking for a school in that area.   Is that correct?

    That post wasn't me

  3. Not doubting your story but I have not seen it myself, never seen a majority only thai bar in Sydney either

Anywhere past Central on Pitt St, quite a few around.

Thing is I never thought I'd see it this blatent. After living in Thailand it just seemed so "Thai"; my friends could be confused with Malaysian but it was literally an experience I had never had before , even in Thailand. Was really upset for them as they could clearly feel it and for no reason. It was literally like half the bar jumped on the bandwagon, real shame as I hv so many Thai friends that would be embarrassed to do that

    Perhaps it's Sydney...

  4. Hey guys

Tonight I realised how racist some Thais (in a group) can be racist outside of Thailand.

I'm originally from uk but lived in Sydney for the past few years. I lived in Thailand 6 years previous to that. Tonight I witnessed my first blatent Thai racism outside of Thailand.

I went to a bar with 5 Bangladeshi lads who I have studied with (all completed bachelors in accounting & law ) which happened to be a predominantly Thai person bar. After being asked to vacate a table for some random Thais to sit down they then wouldn't allow for us to stand at the bar. After going to the gambling hall they then asked to leave the area and stand outside to which they then locked us out : bear in mind this was our first drink there ; third of the night.

The lads I wad with were dark skinned and observing the way they spoke to my friends I could really see how deep this nonsense goes. In a country outside of certain things we all know is true about the land of smiles , to see that openly was gut-wrenching.

I know it's only a small minority that think like this but bringing it over to oz and perhaps the uk ( to add to what is already there) is quite hurtful. And yes it's everywhere but to see bar and restaurant staff doing this was a bit too much.

This isnt the first time I've spoke to a "Thai" bar in Sydney about this, in fact it's the 3rd, are some "white" Thais really that moddy coddled ?

  5. Can not tell for sure (100%), but very likely: its not possible outside the SEA region.

    Compare with ThaiExpatTV:

Watch UK TV live or on demand in Asia – Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, and Kuala Lumpur. Also serviced in Australia, New Zealand and the UAE.

If you could use that in Europe or USA they would get in big trouble with the license holders/pay tv operators.

Australia and New Zealand is a surprise for me.

    Thanks mate

Id like to confirm that somehow, as I dont want to miss the fight

  6. Ok thx mole but I can't read Thai lol . It does look like the end one in aeng though lol

YOU cannot read Thai... but your computer CAN, its what I did with the words of mole, I did not read but listen to them, can help a lot.

How can you listen to words that are typed and how can a computer read Thai ?

  7. There is no humanitarian visa. There are special arrangements made for refugees's if that is what you are asking about.

I cannot see why a Thai would need that status anywhere.

Regarding the special arrangements for refugees, is that based on individual case?

Are there any links to information on the special arrangements?

  8. In Thailand am I right in thinking that the GMP letters that are quite proudly stamped on many products means the same as it does everywhere else "genetically modified product"?

It's interesting to see GMP certified on so many products. It sold much like organic is in the west , something companies use to help sell their product.

However on the west GMP is something companies definitely try to hide.

It is definitely the same meaning here right ?

  9. I understand now however it seems tua aeng or aeng can be used in similar ways as Kon deeow but not vice versa.

E.g "I lost it myself " cannot really say " I lost it alone " however " I am going by myself"and I am going alone " can be said in Thai

  10. Why would thai rice production be affected ? Surely if more Asian people are moving to Thailand that means more rice is eaten..?

This may sound unread but does ASEAN mean no import taxes between countries ..? If not then Thai farmers would surely make more money rather than less...?

Also the unskilled labour side of things, why would they not employ Thais ? Money? But the Burmese / rural Thais are doing that now anyway..surely they would stick with people who can speak their language and aren't old enemies...?

  11. So why does ASEAN starting mean no minimum wage?

Also does that mean Thailand is supposed to abandon its only Thais for certain jobs ?

    I don't understand why the hi/so's don't want it ... Why not , wouldn't it be good..?

Maybe because money rules? A good example was in Berlin/Germany. The new Bundestag in Berlin was mostly built by Polish and other nationality workers, being there illegally, while many German construction workers were jobless.

A research at Chula university Bangkok about a year ago showed that almost none of Thais want to work/live in the other nine ASEAN member countries, but it's much different to the people from the other ASEAN member countries.

It won't affect the hiso's...just the ordinary folks, as always..

    Interesting points.

But I still dont see why minimum wage will be abandoned?

Will Thailand still have a list of "only thai" jobs...?

Also whats this talk about drug factories being set up everywhere? Why would ASEAN affect that? Are these legal drug companies, if so that would help the "economy"...?
