Do Thailand offer humanitarian visa's to people from Laos, Myanmar, African countries etc or something similar?
The reason I ask is because I was wondering also are Thai people entitled to them in other countries?
-
Ah ok, tbh it was the plot that I enjoyed the most, very original. Lots of undertones which were also very clever.
Ill check out that link thanks, more independent/amateur would be interesting too

In Thailand am I right in thinking that the GMP letters that are quite proudly stamped on many products means the same as it does everywhere else "genetically modified product"?
It's interesting to see GMP certified on so many products. It sold much like organic is in the west , something companies use to help sell their product.
However on the west GMP is something companies definitely try to hide.
It is definitely the same meaning here right ?

I understand now however it seems tua aeng or aeng can be used in similar ways as Kon deeow but not vice versa.
E.g "I lost it myself " cannot really say " I lost it alone " however " I am going by myself"and I am going alone " can be said in Thai

Why would thai rice production be affected ? Surely if more Asian people are moving to Thailand that means more rice is eaten..?
This may sound unread but does ASEAN mean no import taxes between countries ..? If not then Thai farmers would surely make more money rather than less...?
Also the unskilled labour side of things, why would they not employ Thais ? Money? But the Burmese / rural Thais are doing that now anyway..surely they would stick with people who can speak their language and aren't old enemies...?

After watching "The Rocket" the other day Ive really gained an interest in Thai/Se Asian films
The films in Thai I can seem to find are about past dynasties and ghosts. However the blockbuster type Thai movies I dont really enjoy.
Can anyone recommend some decent Thai/S.e Asian movies that have an independant, original feel to them?

So why does ASEAN starting mean no minimum wage?
Also does that mean Thailand is supposed to abandon its only Thais for certain jobs ?
I don't understand why the hi/so's don't want it ... Why not , wouldn't it be good..?

Maybe because money rules? A good example was in Berlin/Germany. The new Bundestag in Berlin was mostly built by Polish and other nationality workers, being there illegally, while many German construction workers were jobless.
A research at Chula university Bangkok about a year ago showed that almost none of Thais want to work/live in the other nine ASEAN member countries, but it's much different to the people from the other ASEAN member countries.
It won't affect the hiso's...just the ordinary folks, as always..
Interesting points.
But I still dont see why minimum wage will be abandoned?
Will Thailand still have a list of "only thai" jobs...?
Also whats this talk about drug factories being set up everywhere? Why would ASEAN affect that? Are these legal drug companies, if so that would help the "economy"...?

Ok thx mole but I can't read Thai lol . It does look like the end one in aeng though lol

The former means 'alone' or 'on my own'.
e.g. มาคนเดียว I came alone.
The latter does not mean 'alone'. It can be used as a reflexive pronoun.
e.g. ตีตัวเอง to hit oneself
or for emphasis
e.g. เขาทำตัวเอง He did it himself.
So in answer to your question.
ผมอยู่คนเดียว I live alone.
Thx
But referring to the subject is it not possible to say " I live by myself",,,?
-
This one seems like there is a very thin line between the two.
if you wanted to say you lived on your own you could use either...?
In English "on my own" or "by myself " are pretty interchangeable , is that the same in Thai ..?

Could the same not be said about its neighbours..?

Hi guys
There are alot of people talking about ASEAN "coming into effect" however ASEAN has been around since the early 90's.
What does this actually mean? And why is it such a big deal to the countries involved?
Can anyone recommend me some simple, low jargon reading to do about it
-
Ah ok now I understand .
I used to do the same thing for my multiple imm, would drive up to Burma on my moped and back the same day.
Those were the days lol

Hi mate
U said its your first visa run to Laos, just checking you're aware that the Thai embassy (if thats what you need) is not really near the border and the visa takes 24 hours to get...?
Anyways mate, hope u hv a great time, Vientienne (if you go) is really nice.

It's playing at House RCA until April 2, if anyone still pays to watch films.
Imo its worth it.
Possibly one of the most original films I might have seen regarding plot, pulled off so well.

Chai mai is closest to "isn't it?" The expectation is the answer will be "yes".
Rue plaaw is "or not?" - there's no expectation of a particular answer. It's often shortened simply to "rue".
Might I suggest you buy a copy of "Thai: an Essential Grammar" by David Smyth? It'll answer a lot of your basic questions. It's widely available here.
I'm not in Thailand anymore actually in Sydney . I looked for an e book of the new edition but doesn't seem there is one.
I can learn more about the grammar online
Thx mate onto the next question lol

Thx guys great work
Regarding rue Blao the fact u use it the same as chai Mai e.g using one of the words for the answer makes it even more similar...
Rue Blao seems very hard to define and I guess it may be one of those things I just hv to learn when it is most commonly said. Chai Mai means yes or no, rue Blao means yes or not... Woo this is harder than English lol
What other ways can u say please , t bh I never used it that much

Thanks for that mate
The sentence " Pom tham arai pit rue blao" means "Have done something wrong or not"?
Is it meant to be that blunt? Or is it just the translation that makes it seem like that?
I have heard ka roo na said quite alot though...is it an old way of please..?
Actually is kor the way to say please??
P.S you can write in Thai aswell if you like, it would probably help me
-
Hi guys
I just wanted to know what the differences are between the following words.
1. Chai mai - Rue Blao
2. Kor - ka roo na
The first one is a question but I cant understand the difference and the second one are used to say please...?
Sorry I cant wirte Thai, I am trying
-
Whoa just got that lol
Thanks guys, perhaps I heard some of the phrases wrong
However this has been really helpful.
What Im starting to notice is that alot of the words I dont know but sound familiar are actually Northern Thai words when I find out their meaning. Makes sense since I used to live up there.
Thanks again

Regarding the special arrangements for refugees, is that based on individual case?
Are there any links to information on the special arrangements?
