Still with this nonsense about the "mutated strain"?
There are MANY strains of this virus but they never found any major difference between them.
Do you really believe in an effective vaccine? It would've been there by now if people could do it. The virus mutates. That's the problem. The vaccine that is developed now could not be useful for the infections happening in a few months afterwords. Same with the flu. There are still many people who get the flu even if they had the vaccine.
So far there's no vaccine for corona viruses. HIV is also a virus that doesn't have a vaccine. It's not that simple.

So riddle me this, if there are so many infections going about, why aren't these thousands that you speak about coming forward? Are they all asymptomatic, or are there not thousands of infected people still about? If there were thousands infected walking about that were feeling any symptoms, some of them would have checked into hospital, correct?
I agree with you. There's no COVID 19 in Thailand at the moment. Of course there were and are some random cases, but to spread them into 67 million population, that's nothing. I live in Thailand and I don't know anyone who has got it even if I could be related to thousands of peope. That's says it all.
The government should restart the local tourism as soon as possible as it hurts people in that business. Their 5000 Baht cash handouts are a joke. People used to make that in a day before the crisis hit. Many people need to pay their mortgages and leasings for their cars.

With such a reduced air travel we still get this news?! Really sorry for those people who lost their lives.
With such news I can never trust air travel. I always feel unsecure while flying,

I'm glad to see the today's report with 0 cases. I hope it stays this way, so we could go back to old normal. I'm really annoyed by this charade.

Ban this, ban that! It becomes annoying. People who want to smoke will smoke no matter what, menthol or not. There are age restriction laws. When people meet the age let them choose what to do. Stop babysitting!

That's common knowledge. No need for a professor to tell us that ????

Why threatened with closure?
By closing one place the crowd needs to move to another place and then it will crowd that place.
Bangkok is a very crowded city where implementing social distancing is very difficult or even impossible. Wearing masks and hand sanitizers should be enough for crowded places. And creating queues for the purpose of tracking does not help the problem.

Actual experts were saying months ago that it will slow down in May. It's almost as-if governments don't want to listen....
As far as Thailand goes, simply too hot for massive spread. That's it. No brilliant management or vigilant contact tracing - just luck and the weather.
I would add wearing masks and the culture of not touching each other while greeting. That plays a role too in the low spread of the virus in Thailand.

What an absolutely stupid comment.
Online learning for young learners engages parents exclusively. That could be a problem because parents have to work, and not all parents have proper skills to teach. Online teaching equals more burden for parents. It is opposite to her statement.

The learning outcome would be: to make sure the students are happy for an English class.
What kind of learning outcome is that? There is no clear learning outcome from this video. She was talking about aches with wrong pronunciation, then chanting about being happy in an English class. Pure gibberish that has no connection whatsoever.

Good luck in tracing those millions in case of an infection. Have they thought before implementing it?

Why concern? Just open the bloody schools. Wasn't it July 1st? Why all of a sudden became a concern about online teaching? Just stick to the plan and everything will be alright.

And this is part due to a "successful" implementation of COVID 19 amelioration.
The government chose and is continuing to choose the destroying of local economy. Tourism industry is being completely demolished.
Even if there are almost no cases of the virus people cannot book hotels or travel for pleasure inside Thailand. Which is absurd. So many people lost their income because of this.
Their 5000 Baht is an insult to those people. Many of them have a house mortgage and a car leasing to pay which is obviously not enough.
Instead of making things easier, the government chooses to make it more difficult for them. Beaches are still mostly shut and national parks are still shut.
However, they chose to open malls that are perfect for the virus spread, especially implementing their stupid rules to track people. It looks that they are not very good with logic, shooting themselves in the foot.

You can lift all the restrictions locally as long as the borders are closed. There is no danger at the moment on a local radar according to official data. Why so much concern? Just open up the local tourism to create the needed money flow. There are way too many people who have no money at the moment and that's a real problem too.

Online teaching has many issues. It is not only unaffordable for some, but it is also a nuisanse for many parents.
International schools teach online and throw all the burden towards parents in educating their children. An online lesson consists of a teacher explaining a topic for about 10 minutes and then giving an assignment that young learners cannot complete independently. The question arises "Why do parents have to pay astronomical fees to end up teaching their kids by themselves or hiring tutors?". Most parents don't have the skills to teach or time. It sounds like a scam. That's what the schools are doing now.
This madness needs to stop and allow physical learning where students spend the whole day with the teacher. Not 10 minutes by an online mini lesson.
I thought the government said the teaching resumes from the 1st of July with the new year schedule. Then why are many government schools starting teaching online now? It baffles me.
With the current numbers of cases being so low the government could've started the real teaching in person by June 1st.

What on earth are they checking? During a busy day there are hordes of people which is impossible to implement social distancing.
In my opinion they should have more trains to make the flow of passengers quicker thus reducing the risk of the virus spread.
With all their super duper smart moves they create more opportunities for the virus to spread such as agglomeration and queues.

COVID 19 has literally the same symtoms as a flu, however it takes much longer to recover and induces pneumonia in many people. Losing smell or taste is common during a cold as well when you have a stuffy nose and fever. You don't have much of an appetite then.

Yes, they do. It's a not a problem now. Just reopen all the businesses locally and wait for the international amelioration of COVID situation to open the borders, so life could go back to old normal.

Their forecast was wrong again.
The Meteorological Department issued a warning of bad weather while it was already raining heavily in many parts of the country on 11th May. Knee jerk reaction?
They predicted bad weather for the 12 May again, however there were hardly any clouds in the sky and hardly any breeze. The weather was calm and sunny in Thailand for the most part of the day.
To conclude, their forecast lacks any credibility. I would suggest an inspection to check the professionalism of the staff working at the Meterological Department as they seem to be clueless in forecasting.

Also these officials come up with absurd measures, such as limited entry points to the markets creating unnecessary congestion and queues that could actually trigger the virus spread. Some of their measures are not very well thought and need to be reconsidered.
Checking temperature is useless and a waste of time. It doesn't prevent the virus spread. I feel sorry for those people who have to stand and take the temperature. They could've done something else more productive.
Wearing masks and personal hygiene should suffice entering a market. No need for long queues and congestions for a temperature check.

After standing in another line for concessions, you found your reclining movie seat, sat down and swung over your tray, put your popcorn and soda on it and reached down to your right to find the plastic buttons that make the seat recline. Your hand came back up to dig into that communal popcorn tub you shared with a date, your kids, or your friends. Up goes that hand, toward your face, and…
Revamping the whole process to ensure safety all around isn't so easy. Plus the big movies aren't being released until starting in July. I doubt most movie chains want to open and may have asked not to have to.
In what way is the logic of Thai authorities inferior to that of US or UK authorities, where theaters seem poised to open as late or even later than in Thailand?
Great response and I completely agree with the risk of the spread you meantioned. However, Thailand's virus situation is not comparable to UK and US. There are just a few cases registered in Thailand that are close to 0. I believe it's the time to lift all the restrictions in Thailand, especially when the borders are closed.

Good decision. A company should be insane not to continue with its normal business as there is no risk of COVID 19 at the moment.
