It's one thing to search a person's bags for contraband such as drugs and weapons, etc., (which I agree they have the right to do). It's an altogether different matter to search their phones (and computers) for whatever it is they are looking for there.

Still, all of that stuff is none of their business. The right to privacy is a fundamental human right.

YOU might think that you have nothing to hide. But it all depends on what they are looking for. In any case, this is a gross violation of privacy. It is unacceptable.

I use cash for 90% of my transactions - deliberately. The only things I pay by bank transfer are my rent, my internet, and my electricity bill - for MY convenience. I don't object to cashless payments being an option - as long as I get to choose how to make the payment. The obvious intention, though, is to woo us with the convenience of digital payments, then to switch to digital payments being the only option. At that point, we are slaves - because if you are a dissenter, the government can just switch off your ability to use your own money. China is already an example of that. And don't think that every other government in the world would not love to do the same thing.

I grew up in a 99% Jew-controlled country: the US.

Had numerous samsonites, some of them lasted 20+ years, and now on my second American traveller, and I have travelled all my life for sport, work and holidays. Suitcases, duffelbags, carry on/hand luggage, camera/computer bags. So I had myeperience and preferences. Cant go wrong with either Tumo or Samsonite. Amercan traveller not so many years experience yet, but so far looking promizing compared to the price.

Songkran is the only "celebration" that I know of that people (including myself) actually flee a country to avoid.

They should actually eliminate all zebra crossings in Thailand. All they do is give pedestrians, especially foreign ones, a false sense of security.
