All this talk of the girl's safety - can anyone point me to a (recent) report of a punter hurting either a bargirl or freelancer?

Useful thread.
I just performed the 90 ritual in person and was told that some poor UK passport holders had been caught by UK delays in issuing new passports. As a result, Thai Immigration had been obliged to issue hefty fines for those left with an invalid passport combined with simultaneous expiry of their annual visas, i.e. no valid passport -> cannot renew visa.
So...earliest possible application for a new passport was advised to avoid visa renewal difficulties further down the time-line.
Q: Is there any formally-limited period before which aplications for a new UK passport will not be entertained by the UK issuing authorities?

I've tried, but failed, to password protect a W10 folder containing nthing but WORD files.
The method was Folder Properties->Attributes->Advanced->Compress or encrypt attirbutes-> ...etc to the final option Encrypt contents to secure data, but the click square was greyed out.
The folder contains WORD documents.
Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong? My W10 is Home rather than Pro.
Any alternatives I can download? A simple password protect will do fine.
Thanks.

Sad day for those who remember The Marvelettes: lead singer Wanda Young died on 15 December at the age of 78. The Beatles owed them a big favour (first clip), as did The Action (third clip). Shame Tamla didn't invest as much marketing them as it did for the Supremes.

OP:
Bangkok Hospital (BH) in Chiang Mai provides treatment under general anaesthetic or IV sedation. I guess the same options might be available at whichever BH is nearest to you.
Good luck and please post here if you find the treatment you're after.

Thank you Oracle - much appreciated!

The hospital that jabbed me is not a "national or state-level public health authority"

The latest GOV UK Covid circular to expats states:
"The vaccine certificate must be issued by a national or state-level public health authority, be in English, French or Spanish".
Where can I obtain one?

were there any explanation why the transfer took so long? was it done line with their system?
it has been a really good month for me ???? 20K USD in lost transfers from 2 different sending institutions, can't be a coincidence
No explanation yet, and don't plan to push my bank just yet. ( + I'm not sure that HSBC would be too keen to reveal the reasons for the delay). Will post here with whatever emerges.
Hope your transfers appear soon!

Now waiting for a HSBC response to my claim for compensation ...... (breath not being held).
Good luck to those who still wait!

My transfer via HSBC - initiated on 28 October - finally arrived this morning, 18 November.

interesting, just got a transfer from another institution 3 weeks ago that went missing, and I was told it was blocked for "compliance" reasons, for a very small amounts below the 10K. It seems that something is going on with SWIFT in the last 3 weeks, maybe they got hacked, and chasing Taliban's or crypto criminals money ????
Interesting indeed!
My transfer was for a sum much less than GBP 5k.
I'd be prepared to believe in a hack of SWIFT if I hadn't read so many complaints about HSBC on UK, US and Indian consumer websites over the last few days. A prominent theme is the reluctance of staff at HSBC to use anything other than SWIFT for inter-bank communications. And perish the thought of providing a telephone number connected to a human authorised to take action.

My Thai bank has established that my UK to Thailand transfer has been held by HSBC London owing to "compliance issues".
No indication what those issues are or why they have arisen now against a background of many similar trouble-free transactions. SWIFT messages galore to HSBC from my UK bank and the correspondent bank have failed to prompt a response.
Next? Dunno .....????

You bank with Coutts or Childs banks which are now a part of Natwest?
Neither: feel free to have another go! Bonus points if you can provide the name and a live UK telephone number for someone in HSBC's SWIFT transfer department.

Why would your UK bank need to task HSBC to transfer, why can't they do it directly to your Thai Bank?
My bank (oldest in the UK) has no direct Correspondent Bank relationship with my Thai bank.
