Immigration offices are not obligated to do certificates of residency. There are several that do not do them.

You could check with the local Amophoe or police station to find out it they will do one.

Your only choice is the embassy if they will not do them.

    Thanks for the reply.

So that's it, the only option is to pay 2,300 for the British Embassy to do it. I'll try the local Amphor, but they wouldn't even look into registering my marriage a few years ago, so I hold little hope.

No chance Chaeng Wattana would be able to do it?

  2. Hi,

Im currently trying to get a residence certificate to extend a 5 year driving license. However, Chachoengsao immigration are saying they no longer receive these requests as of last month (April 2018) and I must go to the embassy to get one. I’ve checked twice, Going back with the correct application forms, and called 1111 to check. They all say go to the embassy.

What the hell is going on?

  3. Just to update this, I have just returned from the local immigration office, where they said that Residence Certificates are now only available from your embassy in Bangkok.

Don't know why, can't understand the reasoning. I had all the paperwork in order, but all they would give me is a receipt of notification of residence. I took this to the Land transport office and they refused it for use in extending a 5 year driving license.

  4. Unfortunately, the immigration officers here will not extend a non-b based on an unfinished WP renewal; they want to see a finished renewed work permit. I don't know what the law states, but they say that it is not possible.

Apparently, however, I can apply for a 60 day extension as I am married to a Thai citizen.

To do that I need copies of my passport, my wife's ID card, a TM7 form and a copy of a tabien ban. However, since I do not have a tabien ban, and my wife's tabien ban is for her mother's house in another province, I'm still not sure what to do...

  5. Unfortunately this problem has become more complicated.

I will have to be in the UK around the 20th - 24th. This means that I will probably not be back here in Thailand until 29th at the earliest.

This will not leave me enough time to apply for the renewed work permit before the visa expires as it takes (in reality) 8 working days where I live to get a new work permit.

I guess that this means that getting a Non-Imm B extension is impossible, and I would have to leave the Kingdom and apply for a non-imm B at the embassy in London before I return. However, my work permit would have expired by then, so I would have to apply with a letter of a new job offer and the proposed contract, then I can apply for a new work permit once I arrive in Thailand. Is that right?

Is there a more painless way of doing this as getting to London in the time period will be difficult (and rather annoying).

  6. Hi all.

Due to a death in the family last night, I have to return to the UK asap.

I currently hold a Non-Imm B visa tied to a work permit. The visa expires on the 29th March, so I won't be able to get a re-entry permit.

The visa was going to be renewed as per usual in the next few weeks, but I can't wait until then to return. I don't want to return here on a tourist visa then have to go to Laos, as that is a huge pain in the arse (and I will be quite busy after I return here).

I don't really have much time to search through this forum or go to immigration to discuss my options right now as I have so many other things to sort out. Which is why I am appealing to you all for advice.

I'm guessing I might be able to apply for a non-imm B over in the UK if I have the right documents right? What would I need and how long would it take as I don't want to be in the UK for very long (1-2weeks at the most)?

If I appeal to the immigration officer's better nature, do you think I would have a chance at getting a re-entry? I expect not, but has it been done before or is it a strict requirement to have at least 1 month left on the visa?

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Thanks for the replies.

We have now officially been told that the payments made through 7-11 are the problem.

We have spoken to the manager of the 7-11 in question and they are currently finding the payment receipts for us to sent to Tisco (my wife made the payments and then carried out some spring cleaning).

With any luck, it will be sorted soon. Though if I had luck in the first place, this wouldn't be a problem.

  8. I'm having a serious issue with Tisco over false non-payments for a car I bought in 2012.

I have made all payments on the vehicle. All payments have been made via online banking except 2, which I used 7-11 counter service.

We were first told in April 2013 that I missed a payment in October 2012. We called them and was told that it was an admin error and was no issue. Then a month later we got another letter, so we called and they said the same thing. Then a month later, another letter about the same issue, so call them again and everything is apparently sorted.

Then I was sent a letter in August for a bill of 26k, saying that I had missed 2 payments in Feb and June + fine, so I requested statements from my bank, then faxed them the details of the payments. No reply from Tisco.

I thought that this could have been the 2 payments made through 7-11, but the months dont match, so I'm not sure.

2 weeks go by (I continue paying my usual payments) and I get a call asking about my non-payments and the non-payment in October. I ask them <deleted> they are talking about and they say that these things were explained to us in April. I tell them that they are obviously mistaken, but the previous phone jockey has obviously inputted some bullshit info into their system and it is my mistake.

So I fax them the online transaction statements, and request 2 years of statements from my bank and send them the details of all of the payments made to them.

    Again, no reply.

1 more month, 1 more letter detailing an increase in the fine up to 28k. Another telephone call, a different representative who claims to have just been handed the case and knows nothing about it. More faxing. And no more replies.

This month, 1 letter showing payments made and payments due, as usual, no fines, no non-payments. Happy me.

2 days later, 1 more letter; a bill for 30k.

What the hell do I have to do?!

    Should I contact a lawyer?

Is there anyone here with contacts in Tisco who can help me through this rather painful experience?

Or anyone with any helpful advice?

  9. No answer.

Well, if it's a no, she doesn't have to pay you.

If you were working in an office in the US, Australia, Uk, wherever, and you finished your work for the month, can you just leave without telling your superiors and not return for weeks on end??

While almost all employment contracts will not specifically state this, they will state situations where not being at work without notice is a breech of contract, which is essencially what this is.

My opinion, don't bother taking this further, it will only cost you in the end.

But if the Thai teachers also did not come into work for ANY OF THAT period it kinda negates the argument. Also if after the 1st day of absence !!!!! if they did not contact him, again mutes the argument.

It doesn't mute or negate anything, I don't know where you are getting that idea from.

Plus, you don't know what their contracts state.

You can't base your actions on the actions of other people; it's not going to hold up in court is it smile.png

Also, it's not their responsibility to contact him, its his responsibility to notify them.

I'm not just trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to understand the truth of the situation. smile.png

If the school did NOT give him a schedule for the time they say he should of worked then there was no work.. do you understand?

But that is not necessarily true, is it. Just because he wasn't given teaching hours, does not mean that he can avoid going to work altogether. Do you understand?

  12. I have been looking at enrolling in an international course and the BSM school caught my eye. What is troubling me, however, is that I have as yet been unable to find any neutral reviews on the school by anyone who has completed a course there.

On their site they claim accreditation from the University of East London Global Examinations Board. However, when I Google'd this examinations board, I am led to a site claiming that the board has ceased trading (http://www.uelglobalexams.com/), though other research suggests that they are a group owned by the University of East London.

They claim to offer a particular course I am interested in in conjunction with Northumbria University in the UK, though on the Northumbria University website, it has no information (that I can find) confirming this; but it sounds like a bold statement to make if it isn't true.

Does anyone know anything about this University or have heard anything in the past?
