  1. No answer.

Well, if it's a no, she doesn't have to pay you.

If you were working in an office in the US, Australia, Uk, wherever, and you finished your work for the month, can you just leave without telling your superiors and not return for weeks on end??

While almost all employment contracts will not specifically state this, they will state situations where not being at work without notice is a breech of contract, which is essencially what this is.

My opinion, don't bother taking this further, it will only cost you in the end.

But if the Thai teachers also did not come into work for ANY OF THAT period it kinda negates the argument. Also if after the 1st day of absence !!!!! if they did not contact him, again mutes the argument.

It doesn't mute or negate anything, I don't know where you are getting that idea from.

Plus, you don't know what their contracts state.

You can't base your actions on the actions of other people; it's not going to hold up in court is it smile.png

Also, it's not their responsibility to contact him, its his responsibility to notify them.

I'm not just trying to start an argument, I'm just trying to understand the truth of the situation. smile.png

  3. I have been looking at enrolling in an international course and the BSM school caught my eye. What is troubling me, however, is that I have as yet been unable to find any neutral reviews on the school by anyone who has completed a course there.

On their site they claim accreditation from the University of East London Global Examinations Board. However, when I Google'd this examinations board, I am led to a site claiming that the board has ceased trading (http://www.uelglobalexams.com/), though other research suggests that they are a group owned by the University of East London.

They claim to offer a particular course I am interested in in conjunction with Northumbria University in the UK, though on the Northumbria University website, it has no information (that I can find) confirming this; but it sounds like a bold statement to make if it isn't true.

Does anyone know anything about this University or have heard anything in the past?

  4. After speaking to a mechanic at Honda, he claimed that using gasohol 91 is fine on the old carb model, but I'm still not sure. I've done a tank of 91 now and haven't had a problem so far.

Though I do have another issue.

My exhaust manifold rusted through yesterday and so I went to Honda to source a replacement. Honda want 4200 baht for a new manifold (without silencer), which I think is extortionate. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I am going to visit one of the smaller shops to see what they suggest as I am sure I could get something for much less outside of Honda.

Also, clutch cables, how easy are they to change yourself?

You can get an exhaust pipe for around 1k baht at a bike shop. Honda is expensive because their part are QC inspected to pass government inspections. An after market pipe is your best bet.

If your in nonthaburi then I know a shop

I'm in Chachoengsao, which is a bit far. Thanks anyway

  6. Thanks for the comments.

I'm not really in a position to buy a new bike right now, that option is obviously a last resort (and not one I haven't considered). I can't see how it will ever be "cheaper for me", however. Edit: Ok, rough calculations suggest that it will pay for itself in around 6 years of ownership.

I have tried running it on gasohol, but over time it does eat away at the susceptible parts and last time I tried it the bike began leaking fuel over my drive (though that could have been a poor previous repair job by a local 'mechanic'.). I don't really want to risk it as much as I need to.

I have a friend with a Yamaha SR that has been told you can get conversion kits for his uprated carb, so this is an option I will look into for mine.

  7. I still can't get the benzine 95 here in Chachoengsao, yet, but from what I read it could be on the way, so I will keep a look out...

If your at a ptt just look for the yellow pump.

I asked at PTT here yesterday, apparently they will not be getting it here in Chachoengsao, even though it is available in Bangkok.

Every other source of Benzine has now run out here and I have no choice but to use gasohol 91 for the time being.

Unless... What do I need to convert to allow the bike to run on gasohol?

Would it mean converting the engine to fuel injection? Is that easy/possible?

  8. Hi guys (and girls, if there are any), I have an old carb'd cbr 150 which, as you will all know, should be run on benzene... However, since benzene is now impossible to find, what are my options?

Can I get a conversion kit? If so, how much/difficult/where from?

  9. It is inadvisable to run registry cleaner programs until you have removed the virus or if you know what you are doing, some can damage your system irreparably.

Boot in safe mode by pressing (most commonly) F8 as soon as the computer starts booting up. From there run a full virus scan. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is very good, but you will need to download and update this before starting the laptop in safe mode.

If nothing is detecting the adware/virus then register with a specialist website such as www.geekstogo.com and follow their advice (they are very good at sorting things out for you).

  10. Get a PC with an hdmi output. They usually come standard on laptops but some desktop computers don't have them. Make sure your tv can display at least 1080p and it has hdmi input. Also, buy a high-speed hdmi cable if you plan to display at 1080p.

    Shawn

    Hey Shawn,

Curious about your comment about the HDMI so there is a big difference in quality ? I see some for 500 baht and some as high as 2500 baht.

    Many thanks

There is no difference at all. The cable works, or it doesn't. It's digital.

    Exactly.

Don't waste money on an expensive cable, it is not worth it.

  11. Thanks for the reply.

So I basically have a connection that allows a quicker response time to international servers due to packet priority, but that doesn't mean I have a faster connection. I guess that would probably equate to a better (more secure/smooth) connection to game servers in terms of real world noticability.

After speaking to 3BB today they said that their 9MB package would offer a higher connection speed (to Thai servers) but it wouldn't necessarily be better, the old premier package that I signed up to 3 years ago still allows me higher priority over the standard non-premier package they offer now (currently the only one they offer is a 2500 per month package).

  12. I have been having a read through some of the threads on here but still have a few questions I hope someone can help me with...

Specifically referring to this thread: And transfer speed with 3BB when compared with True.

I have a 3BB package that I signed up to a few years ago, it was when they had the 3 packages available (Indy, Premier and I think the other was aimed at businesses). I was initially signed up to their 599 indy package; the cheapest they offered at the time. However, when I got my PS3 I found that I was unable to connect to any international gaming servers and the requests constantly timed out, meaning that I was unable to play any games online.

So I then upgraded to the 1,100 baht per month Premier package which offered better transfer rates and I was then able to connect and play to my heart's desire with the only issue being the 250ms latency to euro and US servers.

Following on from that I read somewhere that it could have been due to an increase in priority at local servers meaning that while the transfer rates didn't increase that much, I was able to gain a better connection due to the higher priority my latest package offered compared against most other users in my area.

So my first question is, does this make sense and is it likely that this is what happened? i.e I upgraded from Indy to Premier and received higher package priority at the local exchange servers?

The reason I am asking is because 1,100 baht per month is now giving me a router advertised speed of 8mbps dload and 600kbps upload (other sites suggesting 5-6mbps and 450kbps), and I am wondering whether I can get a better/faster connection for my money with a different 3BB package or True (True have very recently begun offering internet packages in my area).

The current offers on the 3bb website advertise packages very different to what my router is telling me I am getting, so I am reluctant to immediately assume that they are 'doing me over' for 200 baht per month more compared to their 900 baht per month package...

The issue I realise I am up against is that my primary use would be online gaming, which is affected mostly by the ping and there isn't much that can be done about the 250-400ms delay in packets from here to the UK, but I also do a lot of file transferring from international sources so....

  13. I have a question along the same lines as this thread. I would appreciate some help with clarifying my situation please.

Ok, bought a Fiesta at 699000

    Downpayment of 69000

Booking fee (including 2000 for the registration) of 5000

Interest rate of 3.8% over 72 months.

What is confusing me is that I am paying 11084 a month in repayments, which doesn't compute (in my brain at least). Is this correct?

TISCO sent me a printout with an initial loan figure of 653,271.03 - But I have no idea where this figure came from. It then goes on to say that I have already paid the downpayment of 45924.30, which again, isn't true. I have receipts for everything I have handed over.

    Am I misunderstanding the paperwork?

Even if these numbers are correct, I have noticed that there are very small mistakes with their calculations in the interest repayments.

It begins with stating that on an amount of 607,346.73, 3.8% interest over 6 years equals 138,492.63, which is actually nearly 18 baht over what it actually is. I know this sounds like a pointless amount but a mistake is a mistake.

  14. I had heard that but it's been steadily getting worse over the last few years. It doesn't really have issues falling out of gear unless I don't change 'assertively' if you know what I mean, it's mainly when changing down, coming to a stop; I have to let the clutch out a little sometimes before changing down again.

  15. Hi, I have an old 150 carb'd cbr that has been serving me quite well over the years. I remember reading through this thread a few years ago and it highlighted a problem on my bike that has been steadily getting worse as the years go by. Basically it is getting more difficult to change into neutral when stationary and occasionally jumps out of gear when moving.

I remember reading on here someone had recognised a similar issue and regularly gets a certain part replaced at their Honda garage every year or so to rectify the problem.

The problem is that I have been to the Honda garage here in the past and every time they tell me it isn't a problem with the bike, just me. I know that is complete rubbish and so I would like to go in there this week and just tell them what part to change without question. The thing is, I don't know what part it is (something to do with the gear selection mechanism?) and I don't know what it translates to in Thai.

Can anyone help shed some light on this for me?

  16. I think I'm going to give up on the Ranger. I need something before Songkran and ideally before the 16th of this month, and I don't think Ford are going to deliver; literally.

Don't like the BT-50, the exterior styling is poor in my opinion (except from one particular angle, which isn't really enough!).

According to the unmentionable newspaper 2100 out of 9600 rangers have been delivered...and "Mr Yuki said orders for the new Mazda BT-50 Pro passed the 7,000 mark slightly more than a month after its official launch, with delivery to buyers of all vehicles expected to take only a few months"

So it sound the bt50 is still a few months away before major deliveries will be made to customers.

Yep, I'm not waiting for that. The D-Max isn't quite what I want, the Vigo is dated, along with the Triton, and the Colorado has an extremely ugly interior (though I think it looks great on the outside in that metallic bronze/brown).

Got a red Fiesta S which I will pick up tomorrow morning.

Apparently they are having similar delivery issues with the Fiestas. I asked when I could have a grey, black or blue one, they said "I don't know, but definitely not soon" So it was either red or orange.

I might get a Ranger in a couple of years, but by then there may be something better to tempt me (and I will probably have had enough of Ford's after sales service by then). Thankfully I now know of (via proxy) the owner of the Ford/Mazda dealerships here, which could help...

  18. After the now famous letters coming from Ford apologizing/notifying that for the Ranger Wildtrak is delayed until June and the letter offer to change to a XLT manual 6 speed or automatic 6 speed if we can not wait. Today we called Ford and changed our order to New Ford Ranger Double Cab 2.2L 4x4 XLT 6AT. They told us the new XLT models will start being available march 1st.

Like I said above the delays are not limited to the WT. Our open-cab XLT hi-rider was supposed to arrive on the 1st March (ordered 3 weeks ago) and now nobody seems to know when it will come. I was told "definitely not March 1st" though. So good luck, but I'm not holding my breath.

I will be taking a trip to Mazda this week though.

  19. So I booked a blue 4x2 open hi-rider a few weeks ago with a promised arrival date of whenever we wanted, so we went for the 1st March.

Got a call this week to say that they had stock delivered so we went in just now to have a look.

They had 2 models, a black double-cab and a true red open cab; no blue open cab.

"So where is our blue one?"

"Are you sure you don't want a red one or a white one?"

    "Yes, I am sure"

"Then I don't know, but definitely not the 1st"

    angry.png

So we then called another dealership and they said that there has been a QC delay and the deliveries were just trickling through to customers with no definitive arrival date for any models. And we should have received a letter explaining this.

Anyone else experienced this? Any current owners had a letter from Ford recently?

To say I'm a bit cheesed off is an understatement.

Edit: Just called Ford Silom and they are saying that there is a delay in supply indirectly caused by the floods.

On a more positive note, the true red hi-rider open-cab I thought looked great...
