Is it best to change the money here in  Bangkok ( superrich ) thai baht or at exchange shops in Sydney, same goes for British pounds, change here or in Sydney. anyone have previous experience where to get best rate . Many thanks  Dave

  2. Yip realise its not everyones cup of tea here in the LOS, but want to gauge where to go for my turkey and RP and all the trimmings on Christmas day,  without breaking the bank, wife and friends in tow. Does anyone have good experiences / bad ones too,  from 2015 that might help me chose where to go this year. ( based on quality, amount, ambiance, cost etc )

    many thanks

  3. I am down in Pattaya at the weekend and promised my Thai brother in law that i would take him to see Muy Thai at the MAX stadium , I understand that its closed due to a fire, but am told they continue to have bouts, is this correct? - If so where ? and are they at the same time ? assume i can get tickets by just turning up prior to the start ?

  4. I have been living in Thailand for some time work ( with WP ) married to Thai lady and have a mortgage on our home in Bangkok. I have on recent occasions been transfering money from my UK bank to our Thai bank here in Thailand just to top up our income. I noticed that the rates i receive are not always the best and are now looking at other options.

The amounts that i transfer each month vary from 500 to 750 and will be looking in the near future to transferring around 60k sterling to help pay off my mortgage here and put a deposit down on a new car.

I have looked at FX brokers and they seem to give good rates but before jumping in I thought I would see if anyone from the UK has any experience in this area where they have used these brokers, and if so are they reliable? or is it best to stick with the UK banks ? any help or advice would be appreciated

  8. Does anyone have experience in renewing their 10 year photo driving license. Mine is due this June and have looked on the website but it is not very clear about those people who do not live in the UK but are not expats. I have a house in the UK which I rent and am assuming that i can just use that as my address on the license? However not sure if my tenants who i never meet would be trusted to post on my new license to me here in Thailand. Also i do return at least once a year staying with friends and hiring cars and would be concerned if I was stopped by the police and have to tell them i no longer live at that address but live abroad

Does anyone have any experience of this that they can share with me ?

    Many thanks

  10. I have decided to install satellite at my house ( actually have the dish which was installed by my landlord and have access to a pirate system , but its so intermittent that i have decided to get it legally. unfortunately i am a football and rugby fan and would like access to both sports - my understanding is that the rugby is shown by True on sports 8 channel ( sentana ) and the PL on CHT - So to access both sports i would have to purchase 2 systems ? is that correct or is there another way around this ?

What are the best deals on both / just one system ?

would like AXN and some fox and other entertainment Movies to keep the missus happy also

So any advice would be appreciated

    many thanks

  11. I usually have a couple of weekends a year in pattaya and stay at the Ibis ( second Road) with the Mrs. Each time I go down I treat myself to an English breakfast and have been going to the above bar as its great value and delicious. Last time a week ago I strolled up and found it gone !!! Does anyone know what happened ? is it closed permanently? moved to a new location ? or closed for refurbishments ?

Any suggestions for an alternative place in or around North Patts for a good quality brekkie not to expensive

We welcome all Welsh people to our society and have many friendly activities throughout the year culminating in the ball.

  13. Off into Bangkok tomorrow and fancy a curry so looking for advice on where to go near BTS Nana - looking for a place that is 1. good food and not expensive - not looking for a posh place just a simple place with simple menu and good review. Not even sure how much curries are in Bangkok so any reviews on this would help

    Many thanks

  14. As said the basic rate only covers the room, everything else is extra. That is their business model.

For information I believe this is the basic room without extras......
