  1. Richco in Chiangmai has Kreem.

I just did my Dyna tank using Kreem after Thai alcohol fuel ate the factory liner. HD recommends 10% ethanol fuels so it makes me wonder what is really in Thai E-10

Will see how long the Kreen stands up

I hear good things about Bill Hirsch tank liner but you would have to import it from the USA

  2. this vendor on Ebay always has good deals on alloy rims and I bought a set for my Enfield. I now wish I had bought more

Buchannans in the USA is great for custom spokes. I bought the heaver guage SS

    http://www.buchananspokes.com/

I drop shipped the rims to Buchananns to insure that the spokes would fit the rim/hub combo

Any competent (the key word) local shop can lace the wheel

I also bought an Outex kit from Riders Club in BKK to run tubeless tires on a spoked rim

    5000 B for 2 x 17" rims

  3. Is there no easy way from Phuket to Langkawi return?

I see a "fast" ferry that takes 9 hours and the last leg is via a "speedboat".

I do not see direct flights either from Phuket to Bangkok

    Any suggestions would be appreciated

  4. Raising the rear will change the trail and make the bike turn in a bit quicker and reduce understeer - a good thing on a Versys, and common on race bikes

I have a pretty good grasp of frame geometry and currently my rear is 6mm lower than the front due to having ZX6R forks and this lowering link. 6mm will bring the bike level.

I could also gain this 6mm with a 180 rear tire (and new wheel to make it fit) , but that will slow down the turn in so not such a great trade off.

I think that a bit more than 6mm would be the dogs due to trail change hence the search for + 35mm

If I cannot find a suitable lowering block I will make one

  5. I have the original Motowerk (USA) lowering link for my Versys that lowers the rear by 47mm

This is a bit too much for me and I now want a link that lowers the bike by +/- 35 - 41mm. I understand that there is a Thai copy of this Motowerk part. Does anyone know how much it lowers the rear?

  6. No answers in the bike forum so asking here in the hope that someone will know

I am looking for a rectangular tube in 7000 series aluminium. I will design around what I can get but 3" or 3.5" x 1.75" x .095 wall in 7050 series would be ideal

The local specialty supplier in Chiangmai can only get me 6063 in 3.5" x 1.5" x 2mm wall

  7. No problem to buy the kit here in Chianmai at Lanna Tool. Comes in a blue box and you can buy extra SS inserts in different lengths if you wish

Stay away from the brass plugs as the tensile strength insures that you will strip it again, and it usually needs a larger hole

2 weeks of non answers and dodging the question on Facebook and finally they admit that they do not know how to calculate spring rate

Bloody useless for a shock manufacturer not to know who to calculate the proper spring rate for a specific application.

if they dont know how to calculate, how they can make products for specific bikes?

Exactly. Mrs Hoghead has now been speaking to them in Thai and they do not want to have a technical discussion as this "is a secret"

Perhaps you should do the spring rate calculation yourself and let them know what you want.

A plethora of online resources are available.

I would if I could find an on-line spring calculator for the rear shock. Several for front spring rates but nothing that I can find for the rear

  10. To clarify

One can bring in a foreign registered bike on a TIB (Temporary Import Bond) and keep it in Thailand for 3 months. Renewable seemingly indefinably by doing a border run. Up to 6 months without the border run by paying the late fine of 2000 b

This method has been used for years to scam the import rules and avoid taxes and duties.

The TIB is in theory tied to ones passport and you would think that if you leave the country the bike has to go too, but that has not been the case. You would also think that if one is in on a retirement visa for example that a temporary import would not be allowed as one is a resident. That also has not been the case

There are people here for years abusing this rule

Now that back to back border visa runs are not allowed, it would stand to reason that the bike border runs are at risk as well.

Then again reason might not prevail

Now that the bickering is over does anyone care to comment on my OP

  12. Facebook is the way to contact them as the "website is currently in processing for any Inquiries". It must have been in processing for several years as they never respond. Funny way to do business via a public forum rather than ones own website, however if your nose is stuck in the phone all day.......

Or maybe I am just an old curmudgeon

In any case my question is sent and now will see if they answer

The custom thing I want in the shock is a linear rate spring and valving to suit my weight and riding conditions, adjustable length to fine tune trail, and offset eyes to clear the chainguard. An off the shelf shock is a compromise as the valving and spring rate is an attempt for a one size fits all solution. A single model cannot accommodate riders from 50 Kg solo to 2 x 100 KG twinkie eaters and their luggage, while delivering optimal performance.

  13. Per the drawing posted, WM3 is 2.15 inches. I need a WM4 at 2.5 inches. Measurement is specified bead to bead

Also Harleys have 40 spoke rims, and Triumph and most Japanese bikes are 36 hole

Looks like I will have to import these rims but will give LInk a go

  14. I want to buy some custom valved and sprung shocks - anyone have a contact at YSS or a knowledgeable Dealer that can sell these to me

BTW Hoghead I sent you an PM about your 19 rims but you didn't reply! Pot and kettletongue.png

I was not aware that the PM of 3 days ago needed a response as you were to walk down there today

In any case I look forward tot he results of your stroll

  15. YSS Thailand has never responded to my emails or their website feedback form. This is not the first time they they have ignored me
