No, he's Scottish, hates the English

Can't blame him if you look at the history, same goes for the Irish and many other countries that suffered a lot under the English occupation. ???? I'm originally from across the chanel and the UK football supporters (hooligans) have a bad reputation and are not liked as well.

Maybe ask who told you this? Have you seen the movie "Fly Fishing in The Yemen"? Most Thais simply fish the river using trolling lures, or better still, large nets. Much easier and better results.

He is talking about manufactures. Yes, they have a good reputation and produce for export only. I know where one factory is located as I cycled in that area a lot I don't have any contact information. I think it is the one that he knows about. Don't know of any wholesaler, that factory most have a good customers base and does not use (need) a wholesaler.

They MIGHT be genuine tourists who bought and used the goods outside Thailand, in which case duty is not due. Whether or not they plan to take them when they leave makes no difference.

However, there are many cases of people claiming that items are for personal use or have already been worn, but plan to sell them for a profit, in which case the Customs guys are just doing their jobs.

Who are we to know for sure?

But as @Dmaxdan rightly points out, if they're wealthy enough to have these items, then they can afford to pay the tax.

Being rich is not a crime. Yet even the top of the communist parties have more luxurious items and properties than a normal capitalist can afford. If the good are used and for personal use during a holiday than the customs should stay out of it. Yet another government department with a very high corruption rate that tries to scam the people.

This forecast might be correct if you live around CM or other places NW.    Not sure if this massive storm is heading East.  Likely NE.

Where are the "Global Warming" cries!!   Earth is dying! screams.  Save our planet! yells.   This rain is not 100% normal and we must realize it's a major change to the environment and might be the beginning of the end!!!    or not!!    Imagine if it's hot and then cold and then hot?  Who to blame?? Don't worry, I'll fix it.  TVFM to the rescue.   The answer:   Leo Beer

Probably el ninjo would be a more correct answer, happen every seven years or so. <deleted> I don't drink beer in Thailand, am I in trouble now.

Did you mean the guy who stood for election back in 2001, and his party won and became the ruling party? The same guy who won a legal election and was the PM for the 4 year term? The same guy who went to the polls a second time and who won an overwhelming majority in parliament and was removed from power by a military coup? The charges against him were weak and unproven anyway.

Is this the same guy whose sister also went to the polls in a perfectly legal election and won? The guy whose sister dissolved parliament ready for another legal election and who was deposed by what a surprise, yet another military coup? Who was brought to court on corruption charges which, once again were unproven?

If you meant Thaksin Shinawatra then why not say his name.

Do you honestly believe that IF a free and fair election were held and Thaksin and his party were allowed a free vote against Prayuth and the PPRP that Thaksin and his party would win hands down?

Try to remember that Thaksin, Yingluck et al were elected freely by the Thai people, and that every military coup drags the country backwards a couple of decades and proper democracy twice as far.

    Am I supporter of Thaksin?

Not really. But if the choice is the devil you know or the one imposed on you, choose the devil you know every time.

So he did nothing wrong, he must be an angel?

In the real world he would not even been allowed to participate in any elections as he would have been condemned for the things he did.

Net worth 3 billion when entering office, net worth 36 billion when he left. And he even did not pay taxes on the sale.

As you can see I'm not a supporter of him, I liked him a couple months when I arrived in early nineties but that's all. Changed my mind very fast when I found out he is no different from his European colleagues.

Up to this day I still don't have any person in THai politics that I like.

You know Berlusconi (italian politician) well Berlusconi was peanuts compared to this one.

He abused his power over the whole line and mixed his politics with his family business. Democratic elections my aSS, even when they catch them red handed, they still walk free.

As I understand this "X" is separate from Thai AirAsia which does domestic flights.

Yes, but like same same but different. They split up companies to avoid problems like this would ground the company as an whole. Good for tax reason, good for survival.

Just feels like there is a niche in the inter-provincial flight market that may not be viable for the big boys but for a small lean team it  could be an attractive business . I would think that there must be similar foreign business models operating somewhere that could show the way ?

Flying in smaller aircraft may not suit everyone as you are certainly aware that you are flying compared to large aircraft . Two pilots per flight could be enough to repel investment in small , light passenger flights , unless its easy to get a pilots licence in Thailand .

BTW did you see the video of a passenger taking controls of an aircraft after the pilot had collapsed   www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbMoyWukjbs

Pilot licenses in Thailand are expensive (like all over the world) Yes I have seen the latest, it happened before. In THailand the authorities are the main problem way this will not work here unless you have connections. Investments are to high for the risks and the return is minimum because of all the rules.

  8. Title should read" there is little we are willing to do" I love dogs, have two of them myself. They have a bad habit as they bark at strangers and follow passing motorbikes who come in to their small territory. Once they know the new neighbour they will not bark at them anymore.  The grab girls and guys don't need to phone when they are arrive in our soi, my dog will tell them they are there.

Having been in the UK military for over 12 years I have mixed & socialised with all UK accents, I don't need a translator to talk with anyone no matter where they hail from in the UK.

Same over here, after 11 years in the military you pick all different dialects. In my case, I even became more fluent in two extra languages being based in other parts of the country. After working in tourism for almost 30 years I have the same thing with English and French.

Some creativity is needed. Something. Anything. Just one soul thinking outside of an incredibly small box of convention. The level of conservatism and conformity here is mind boggling.

100% correct, example the smaller airplanes I mentioned are allowed for single pilot operating in almost every country, except Thailand. (hence why the operating cost are higher) Took a lot of paperwork to even get them in the air for passengers, the problem was they missed an extra engine. Rules stipulated that in Thailand in order to allow passengers flights the aircraft needed two engines. I fly only in Australia light sport and gliders, ten minutes after arriving at my club I'm in the air (after signing the paperwork) In THailand it takes forever and I probably would not be allowed even to start training.

Even though your post is borderline funny, it reeks of homophobia.

And what if the poster is gay as well? Is it still Homophobia. If I tell a gay joke as a hetero it can be classified as a homophobia, if a gay person tells the same joke, it is still just a joke. One of my former bosses was gay and I had dinner with him and his gay friends, Can tell you they had plenty of (gay) jokes that I would not dare to tell ????. JUst wonder where is the border.

I supposed that would be dependent on which familial clan you speak of, which could go into the numbers.

Yet, as we contemplate influential criminal families and their extensions, there is only one that stands out heads above.

Correct there are a couple of these families, one of Buriram comes to mind. However these kind of families are not only available in Thailand. Many countries have them, politics seems a business for them.
