  1. A women's soccer match between two Sydney teams out rated the wallabies on TV last weekend. Tens of thousands go to world cups. Its the most played sport in the country. Thechook you have been outside of the country too long.

Anyway, the FFA has sent out emails and messages on social media warning Australian supporters to show the upmost respect. Reading the newspaper, the FFA have also organised a fan engagement manager to hand out black arm bands and ribbons.

If I were you, I'd go to Australia. Easy as a young person to get a work visa, so, your money will go a lot further.

Lot of places to see and lots of Asian (looking) women, if that's your thing.

I went out in Sydney last weekend. There is a whole street of Thai pubs and night clubs now to go along with the Umpteenth number of Thai restaurants and massage joints. Pretty impressive.

Why doesn't the OP save enough money for a 6 month stay. Short enough to make it easy to fit back in to western life, long enough to get sick of the place.

  3. Top 2 qualify directly. 3rd placed go into a playoff with the 3rd placed team in group A. The winner of that goes in to an intercontinental playoff with a CONCACAF team.

Thailand and the middle eastern countries will give a good account of themselves at home but I can't see them picking up points in Australia or Japan.

Us (Australia) are better coached and have more depth than four years ago when we scraped through to Brazil. The logistics within the group will be interesting as there a few short turn around. Games in the middles east followed by a game in Japan/Australia 5 days later.

  4. Thai weddings are indeed a strange beast. Everyone rolls in and has a photo with the bride and groom which ultimately takes up half the ceremony. As you say everyone talks over the top of speeches. Come and go when you please.

  5. A visiting friend wants to call on another friend in Perth for a few days and then return to Phuket. Anyone have any info on (low) cost flights availability? Thanks smile.png

Have a look at jetstar they fly direct. Air asia would also be a cheap option however there would be a stop over in KL.
  6. The Nike store had a decent range of shoes but i certainly wouldnt hurry back. Another shopping experience where im left wondering where all the money comes from. The majority of Thais can't afford the 'brand names' (note the lack of shopping bags in hand) and walk around aimlessly taking selfies in the unremarkable arcades, the chinese were nowhere to be seen and i could count the farang with my right hand.
