  1. Just to add in to this:

I left Thailand to give my wife and children opportunities in Australia.

The questions arise about the difference in Education, Healthcare (Medicare), University opportunity, freedom to travel and a number of other things.

We are not economic refugees and plan to return in the next 5 - 10 years, just what's better for the family.

  2. While I'm sure there are a lot of creative Thai's I have to remember that patent protection begins and ends at the border. It's possible to get a Thai patent on an item that's been sold in Europe or the USA for years. It also works the other way. Probably shouldn't happen, but it does.

For anyone really interested, go to USPTO.gov and do a patent search for patents where the patent owner or inventor lists Thailand as an address.

I'm sure there are European sites to do the same, but I have only searched the USPTO site.

Can you give a more specific URL. USPTO.gov just is the landing page and its very difficult to find what you are referring to.

I think also to strengthen your claim, it would help if you could give us an infographic that shows the total number of Patents for each country and where Thailand sits.

  3. Best thing is a photo of you every 3 months together in the same frame. Its east for the immigration officer to shh the change over the time period.

They understand that Joint Bank accounts leases and bills are not that common, however a Cable TV bill or others sent to Mr Joyeuss in the same time-frame that Mrs Joyeuss is paying the lease, Bank Statements, Phone Bills etc I have been told is acceptable.

  4. There will be many more check-points closer to the major holiday.

My wife once explained it to me that there are many more people in the area and they want to check people actually have a reason for being there, other than being up to no good.

Checking motor-bikes for licenses and insurance etc, we,, in my mind, thats not such a bad thing when you see the alarming number of crashes etc in that area.

  5. Please, oh please ... does some have a photo?

I don't often get down to Phuket ... but this I'd love to see ...

    .

    Phuket?

Rayong is about 50 km past Pattaya when coming from Bkk.

Clearly something 60cm big would be too small to see from that distance, particularly as there is a bit of a mountain range in the way. I would also think that Ranong might also be too far to see from Phuket also.

  6. One thing to be careful of is the partner visa is considered a migration visa and they want the prospective partner to stay in Australia during the consideration period. They are given what is called a Bridging "A" visa which I think from memory is an 020 visa (if you apply in Australia). If you apply in Thailand, I think you will wait up to a year for processing and its over $2500 AUD application fee now. The visa is a 309 until the decision is made - here is a link to it from the Immigration website http://www.immi.gov.au/migrants/partners/partner/309-100/

Yes When you are in Australia, they will grant the odd Bridging "B" visa, which allows travel, however this is not a right of the bridging "A" visa holder.

Thanet; If you have all your paperwork available in the correct order etc, and you have been in a relationship for 10 or so years they will grant both of the 820 and the 801 visa at the same time, which happened to my wife and step-daughter. Our total processing time was just under 13 months and I would guess I was the cause of about 2 of the months wait.
