The bottle shop upstairs in Emporium Sukhumvit has a good supply of Malt.
I am sure it would be similar for shop at Siam Paragon.
Emporium, is that the place opp. Soi 33?
More like opposite Soi 37, but yes that big shopping centrte.

Eucalyptus plantations always worry me, particularly if it catches on fire

Thanks everyone, both the girls are in school and normality (whatever that is) seems to be the way now.

Just as an update we got the grant letter today, for both Mother and Daughter. They now have the 801 Partner Visa, which is PR for Australia.

Sorry OP (Princess) - harden up a little.
If you lost your ticket on the BTS/MRT would you make it the Station-attendants problem you lost your ticket or accept the fact that you lost your ticket and deal with it.

There's been several threads on this subject in recent months, have a quick search.
In the meantime, http://www.pantipmar...ducts&id=127985 would be a good starting point
That looks like a 900 Mghz model - Aren't AIS also on and migrating to 1.8G. I am just worried that Somo might buy some obsolete kit.

....Much better to remove that hard drive before you get rid of the old PC and buy a cheap external drive case to put it in.
Totally agree.
You may also be well rewarded comparing Fortune City in Rachada to Pantip

Or... Google Old Siam shopping center Bangkok and click on the map tab. You can ask your driver to park there while you look for exactly what you want.

Today I took delivery of a 4 Door XLT Ranger with the 3.2 Turbo engine. It cost me just under $52,000 AUD or about 1.62M Thai Baht. I am taking the family for a weekend trip, so I will post some pictures when we get back.
The only complaint I have about it is that it gets skittish on very wet roads (lots of rain here) in 2WD mode - changing to H4 fixed that. Everything else appears to work well.
The price is about 4K AUD lower as I asked the Procurement department of my company for a favor and they delivered well.

Overkill? thought I was over killing back ups, have for at least for 12 years put images and documents on 2 other hard drives as well as to 4 re-rewritable DVD's
last couple of years, very 6 months do a total PC Image backup to yet another HDD, did this last Monday took just over 9 hours...
Over the years would have lost everything if I had not done backups...
Maybe of interest........ when I came here I put 2 HDD + my DVD RAM writer in my case with clothes packed around... The DVD's were in the container that came by ship.. New PC here early 2004 added the HDD's from UK would not work, Fried as was the DVD writer., thankfully the DVD's with photos's and Data were fine. just took 6 weeks to arrive..
Have you tried loading the DVD's and writing them back to a disk?
I am asking this because I have found that DVD's after about 5 years become an unreliable archive media unless they are in a controlled atmosphere.

I sync to a separate removable drive. I was thinking of backing up into a cloud environment. Looking at some of the cloud solutions, they are expensive and with over 300Gb of media, I think it would be cheaper over less than a year to buy another 500Gb portable drive to ensure there is a "Backup to the Backup.
There are many times I have heard the primary backup failing.

.... I was told, (I am not a guru on Thai law by the way) that you have to name a farther for kids in Thailand.
No, my step daughter has her mothers maiden name.

......Such a ban in LOS would ruin show business. ....
What the ??? I don't understand that at all.

... some Thai women living with their Australian partners are vicious gossips and can lead to discord in the circle of friends and in the family.
Quite so I have seen this already.

Please tell us how you got into this situation.

@krisb - I woke up this morning a bit disappointed as I don't have a valid excuse to turn off the cartoons as the game finished yesterday.
@kevjohn Yes, citizenship is an important thing, although here the only difference between that and PR is the Passport, being able to vote and not needing the Residents Return Visa. The passport certainly makes travel much easier, particularly to the large number of countries that Australians don't require a visa, or have visa waiver programmes.

As an update;
My wife and step-daughter are just a few weeks away from PR here in Australia. The real time-waster was on my side and getting everyone in Australia at the same time and stop the good-folk at Immi getting dizzy.
I cannot emphasise enough to be honest with Immi and keep all your documents, no matter how trivial you think they are. An example of this being a photo I have from 10 years ago of my wife's name tattooed on my arm. Our case officer was shocked in a happy way to see that when I pulled up my shirt. So what you may thing now as useless trivia 3-5 years later becomes evidence.
So what for you there that want to do this yourself:
The first thing you must do is download this booklet - http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/booklets/1127.pdf read it maybe 3 - 5 times and understand it.
If you have the opportunity to have the 801/820 Visa processed in Australia then fill out all the forms as best you can and ask the Immi Officers in Australia what to do next. They know much more than you and I will ever know and are happy to take inquiries. DO NOT go there with a team of lawyers and tell them what to do.......
If you do the application in BKK, then it will take more time and you will be apart for longer. My advice in this situation is get on a cheap flight to BKK and make another Australian Citizen.....
In summary its a process that needs to be followed; it can be slow and frustrating, however there is a level of certainty in the process - if you are honest

As an observation; for any willing foreigner looking for work and after a bit of research teaching English is a walk-up and start job, therefore attracting a wide spectrum of successful applicants. Potentially more people can do research on the Internet than be "Pillars of Society"

I was told by a well respected mechanic here in Australia that changing the oil and the filter at 1000k removes the pieces of metal and other "Factory Rubbish" in the engine including the odd bits of casting sand from the block. Now that was about 20 years ago and I am sure technology has improved, however, I have always been happy to pay the extra for the new oil and filter.

Just read the OP for the first time.
The topic title asks the question "Where To Live In Thailand On My Budget"
And then says nothing about what that budget is apart from a one off deal on land.
It's a post designed to rattle the cages of the country boys.
Without any further info from the original poster, I'd just ignore this one.
I was also wondering if the Unemployment Benefit for the OP was available in his home country - that may supplement his "War Chest"
