  1. That option sounded good for me but the app says the recipients name must be different to the senders.
  2. I recently needed to change my booking and found that telephoning them was very quick and easy.
  3. I use 3 banks in Thailand. SCB and Bangkok bank allow the app on more than one device, Kasikorn doesn't. In the UK some financial institutions allow it and some don't. There doesn't seem to be any consistency.
  4. I use google pay all the time in the UK but apparently its not accepted in Thailand
  5. Coincidentally I just received this email from Wise. I might try using them again
  6. My friend was rejected in similar circumstances but was able to use a second bank account.
  7. I'm flying from the UK on Tuesday, I hope, and Thai Airways have emailed me saying that I must have a paper copy of all documentation.
  8. BKK bank, Kbank and SCB all work in foreign ATMs, you have to call the banks first to let them know you are going abroad and for how long. The exchange rate is bad and there is a charge to use the ATM.
  9. The British embassy told me on Monday that insurance was required for the length of my stay in Thailand (as opposed to the length of my visa). So that's what I did, and received my Thailand pass within 4 hours of submitting it.
  10. When I sold my house I went into a kasikorn branch that had an international section and sent the money direct to my UK building society. It arrived in seconds. I was not asked to prove the money had originally come from the UK. That was nearly 3 years ago so I don't know if anything has changed since.
  11. I received this email from Wise today. Paul (TransferWise) Nov 5, 2021, 14:54 GMT+1 Hello Keith, Thanks for getting back to us. Apologies for the confusion. When selecting the purpose of the transfer, this is needed due to how we are regulated we need to know the purpose of the transfer. This doesn't mean it will be sent out as an international transfer. We always send transfers out as a local transfer from our partner bank. Please note we aren't authorised by the Bank of Thailand to issue FET forms. How can you get a FET form? You'll need to ask for a FET form from the partner bank that we paid your money out from. You can check which bank this is on your transfer receipt. To find it: 1. Go to the transfer in the Activity section of your Wise account 2. Click View transfer details 3. Click Download PDF receipt 4. Go to the second page to find banking partner details You can read all about this on our website Guide to THB transfers which we have advised every customer. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get back to us. All the best. Paul | Wise
  12. I'm not taking a chance with Wise anymore, so am opening an account with first direct (UK) who do free international transfers.
  13. It happened to me today where my transfer from the UK showed as domestic. I phoned Wise who said that the option for using Thai immigration is going to be removed from the app. Basically it was my problem not theirs.
  14. I did my usual monthly transfer for 65k for the retirement visa but instead of international it showed as a domestic transfer. I phoned Wise who said that I would have to get a form from a Thai bank to show it was international. I asked what was the point of the Thai Immigration option in the app and was told it was going to be removed. The Wise rep agreed with me that there was no point me using Wise in the future and was happy to let me go.
  15. After using Wise for a couple of years. I just had my first problem. I have a retirement visa based on 65k so I chose the Thai immigration option as the reason for the transfer. Up until now its always shown as a foreign transaction. Today it shows as a domestic transfer. I'm currently waiting for Wise to get back to me to let me know how they are going to put this right. Maybe its time to look at other options.
  16. No. I assumed that logically it would reset the 90 days. But when I went back 90 days after my visa extension I was fined for overstay. That was a few years ago. I now know not to use logic when I'm here.
  17. So it's still not clear if it's 50k of medical insurance or Covid insurance
  18. I'm currently self quarantining in a UK hotel. Whilst here I've had an SMS from GOV.UK and a phone call from NHS Track and Trace warning me I will get prosecuted if I break the rules. Plus a threat of a personal visit to check on me.
  19. Are you at the Holiday Inn Gatwick or Heathrow. I was just about to book the St Giles and saw your comments.
  20. The UK government reassess the traffic light countries every 3 weeks, so the next announcement should be on the 26th. I'm hoping to travel back just before then. Where did you get the information that Thailand is about to move to red?
