How can smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol be allowed if use of pot is not ?
Problem is I believe a higher percentage of people who start smoking pot move onto harder drugs later.
My brother was one who later overdosed and died from a bad batch.

Yes but if you are smoking use your brains because foreigners smoking it in public and on beaches
without a care is a sure way to get it banned very soon.

Quote"We have to remember that wearing masks is not just a preventative measure for Covid but protects people against resipratory and gastrointestinal diseases too", he noted.
I assume he's referring to TB Tuberculosis which yes is still rife in Thailand especially among Taxi drivers and on public transport.
Also wish they would also educate Thai's as why they should use serving spoons and not their own when sharing dishes of food Hepatitis is still a problem in Thailand.- 3

I wonder how long it will be before one has to pay 300 baht to LEAVE Thailand as I had to in years gone by.
I believe that was Airport tax? Now it's included in the ticket price.

Well it's not really Tourist tax is it? it's foreigner tax!
Why not just apply tax to the price of a Hotel stay as in many other countries do then all tourists would pay including domestic tourists? After all they also benifit from the tourist attractions don't they?- 1

Well looks like the laws need changing then!

I might look like a tool but my smokers cough is gone and I have only had one cold in the 5 years I vaped compared to every year as a smoker. It has been helpful for me, no smoking for over 5 years now.
Whilst vaping I could run 5k a day without getting out of breath before on cigs I couldn't even run 100m.

Don't be silly, there is a selection of girly and naff smells, think the last one was like burning strawberry's.
In Thailand it is illegal to use them, illegal to smoke anywhere near an establishment, think 5 metres away.
You probably can't smell them because you are using them, so pleeeeease don't give me all that cr@p....????
I used to vape with odorless E-liquid before I quit.
You can get Tobacco flavor but that tastes like <deleted> like cigs.- 1

That's bad news for anyone who wants to use them to stop smoking as I did 4 years ago.
Some people will start out smoking with them but a very small percentage most want to use them to quit or replace smoking.- 2

NObody likes to pay taxes, but f you make deals and earn a lot it is normal that you have to pay. The tax money will be spend for the country needs, but no paying means that in fact you are robbing the country and its people. Therefor it is a shame that nothing must be paid by him. The court could rule a lower amount, which was better acceptable than no pay at all
But did he even have to pay Tax that is the question?

But, the Singapore company that brought his company ,brought the shears though the Thai stock market ,under Thai stock market law no tax was needed to be paid.
I can remember at the time that is a big loophole that needs closing .
As for the rest of his businesses, of course he tried to fiddle the tax ,might have been legally ,but I suspect it was not so
Yes and the question is what should he have done?
I don't think he expected to become PM but when he won the election and become PM he couldn't let it go and had to sell his Companies as quick as possible. If memory servers me right he was fined because he sold out to a foreign company causing the Country loses for which he was fined?
it's very open law in Thailand and open to interpretation by which ever Judge is ruling.

Thank you for confirming my interpretation. No smoking in public is what I wrote and no smoking in public is what you have reiterated. You can smoke as much as you want as long as you don't force others to do so. Sensible.
If you are looking to Troll or to get into an argument, you failed.
Yea just because he didn't say smoking in private is Ok doesn't mean it is. The government made it clear from the start that Ganja was being made legal for MEDICAL use ONLY and recreational use was and is still ILLEGAL and smoking it is definitely recreational use. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for it and have a couple of plats myself but just watching how this will all pan out as it's still all very up in the air. Many powerful people have invested in medical Ganja and legislation is causing them to lose a lot of profit. I recommend making the most of whilst you can as I don't think it will last.

He owned the companies before he became PM and everyone new it, then of course after winning the election he was forced to sell em off. Guess he was trying to save losing ownership and paying billions in Tax as most billionaires do. There's are always loop holes in Thai laws which are written in way as to leave it open to interpretation for the Judges to decide.

Doesn't say that at all. You just made that up.
The article talks about possible fines for smoking in public. You know, in places where you are likely to disturb and annoy. Then the deterrent is there.
Behave sensibly and no one will disturb you.
If honestly, I personally don't know anyone who smokes recreationally. Everyone I know who does so, does so for health reasons in one way or another.
To help with sleep, anxiety, pain etc
Even from what I read here, some people claim it helps them at work.
I think what they are saying it that they don't want irresponsible people creating negative headlines.
Expats probably already know how to behave in moderation, but some tourists, as you know, like to make the most of their freedom and live life to excess. Drinking, partying etc Not an issue if they know how to keep themselves out of trouble.
It's all there for you, but don't do stupid things.
They want this to be good for everyone, so that it keeps on rolling(see what I did there? ???? ).
People have lost a lot over the past few years; with good intentions, hopefully people can get their livelihoods together again.
Dispensaries with good knowledge can help people choose the strains that may suit them best and charge a premium for doing so. Those who have more time on their hands can do their own research and save a bit by doing so.
Something for everyone. Just don't go to Thailand to abuse it, make a fool out of yourself and make Thailand look bad, is what I think they are trying to convey.
Interpret that as you want but for me it does.
Title = Pot-smoking tourists not welcome in Thailand, says health minister
Quote = But those smoking in public risk facing a three-month jail sentence or fines of up to 25,000 baht ($705.82). -
So you're not allowed to smoke it but can make Tea or consume it in other ways right?
-
He said they are not welcome and will be Jailed and Fined according to CNN so this is kind of World news now.

Believe me the virus is going to be around for a long time and shutting down the economy won't stop it.
