  1. They are all corrupt as each other and if Pheu Thai wins the upcoming election it would be revenge time.
  2. Elections coming up soon so expect more of these jumped up charges against the Shinawatra family. Like the last charges against her they will be thrown out later but it makes for bad PR for them.
  3. The government still needs him to stay in power so he thinks he can do as he pleases.
  4. Funny Thaiembassy.com isn't actually a Thai embassy or even any official site as might seem The law says 1.Taxable Person Taxpayers are classified into “resident” and “non-resident”. “Resident” means any person residing in Thailand for a period or periods aggregating more than 180 days in any tax (calendar) year. A resident of Thailand is liable to pay tax on income from sources in Thailand as well as on the portion of income from foreign sources that is brought into Thailand. A non-resident is, however, subject to tax only on income from sources in Thailand. https://www.rd.go.th/english/6045.html
  5. By law if you live more than 6 months a year in Thailand then you are required to pay tax on any income brought into Thailand but at the moment the law as with many isn't being enforced. The same goes for digital Nomads they can't pay Tax because there's no system in place for them to do so. I only mention it because another Member is accusing people of avoiding to pay income tax.
  6. You talk about avoiding paying Taxes do you think retired Expats should be paying their income Tax in Thailand? Because I think probably 100% don't.
  7. I can imagine there are probably more foreigners working online aka Digital Nomads i.e. programmers, web designers and graphic designers using Paypal services than those doing ecommerce. If they close the doors on them to receive payment they will probably just leave Thailand for more Digital Namad friendlier countries. Thailand will just loose income they bring into the country and spend here. In any case ecommerce will now require a Business account in Thailand even for Thai's so there's no point to prevent foreigners having a personal Paypal account.
  8. Exactly sitting on the fence makes Thailand look weak and without opinions, playing all sides for benifit.
  9. He's supposed to be Wooing China into letting tourists return but Xi not having any of it. First time I ever felt sorry for Prayut! Really NOOOOOO!
  10. What are you talking about 99% where did you get that number? Do you have some source or just like judging others? Next time look in the mirror and judge yourself.
  11. It's not really a good idea to pay for online goods by Bank Transfer as you get Zero buyer protection and Wise doesn't issue Debit Cards to users in Thailand and most companies don't accept BT. Anyway why even use Wise you can just use a Thai Credit Card or Bank to transfer but I think you miss the point as to why Paypal is just more convenient but never mind. P.s a lot of criminals are using Wise to launder cash so I expect Thailand will crack down on that soon.
  12. I don't know any company which accept payment through Wise could please you educate me as to which online companies do accept payment through wise so I don't look like a fool again thank you?
  13. I use Paypal to pay for just about everything online where passable as it's much easier and safer, quicker ( for refunds) than using a Credit Card also many monthly Internet services which are deducted from my Paypal account automatically each month. Can Wise do that? What can I pay for with Wise? Didn't think so. Also with Paypal you have a clear breakdown on what you have spent and what for. Try making sense of a Thai Banks Credit Card invoice if you can. I don't know anything can I? Like I said in my previous post Paypal should allow foreigners to keep there accounts with only the ability at least to Pay.
  14. No same same thing really. Don't have to close Farang account they could just restrict it to making payments and personal transfers. Many Thai's also have unregistered businesses and don't pay Tax.
  15. No they don't I just signed up and it works! No Thai ID required they use Credit Card for verification wow smart idea Eh pity Payal never thought of that. Oh wait I thought they already did? I think Paypal Thailand is probably just being run by less clever people than google.
  16. Well I just signed up for the newly available Google Wallet service in Thailand and they didn't require NDID verification they used my Credit Card to confirm ID as Paypal also currently does. https://aseannow.com/topic/1277989-google-pay-and-wallet-launch-in-thailand
  17. Well lets see if Google Pay will require NDID verification shall we? And I can now confirm Google Pay & Google Wallet do not need NDID verification because I just signed up and it's already working. They use Credit Card for verification interestingly the same as Paypal used to.
  18. Interesting will they also need NDID verification as Paypal does? If so could look bad for Paypal I smell a U-Turn in the works.
  19. As the Virus is seasonal in that there are more cases in Winter than Summer can we assume the Virus prefers Colder climates than hooter ones?
  20. No I wouldn't close your account just make sure there's no money in it they may find a solution yet. I have a feeling Paypal Thailand will be making some more U-Turns soon after all this is the Land Of U-Turns.
  21. It just can't be possible the Thai Government would force a Fintech company to use the services of a private company for account verification. Now if that's what PPT is telling you then I am not surprised they've botched this up. In fact it's been a mess since the beginning of the year when they 1st said only registered companies could have accounts.
  22. Exactly Paypal Thailand would have you believe they have no choice but to close down foreigners accounts but there are other options to verify accounts as with TrueMoney and DeeMoney but they just can't be bothereed,
  23. It didn't! Paypal is just using the services of the private company National Digital Co., Ltd for account verification.
